An Experience Worth Having
Tips: Students should be prepared to self-study. The university offers a good learning environment, but it’s important to manage your time and make the most of the societies they provide while balancing your studies. Adjusting to a new culture definitely took a little time, but I found that people are much nicer there and help is available for anything that you could ask for. Overall, I’m satisfied with my university course. Studying in a new country has brought me new ambitions and helped me become independent.
Likes (Indian Food): Specifically in Leeds, I’ve found that there are multiple options for Indian food that are priced decently, and the portions are good. I prefer eating at home to save on costs, and I found that there are very few south asian grocery stores where you’ll find all the spices, vegetables, and sweets. However, there’s an increase in the number of Indian products that British grocery stores are selling nowadays.
Dislikes (Part time work): There are a decent number of on-campus jobs available on their platform Joblink, however, not all of them are suitable for a student in a full-time course. Off-campus jobs have more requirements for certain skills, and in my experience, the most common/available jobs I’ve seen for students are store clerks, baristas and bartenders. Most people can manage their part-time jobs as uni classes all end around 6 pm, until assignment season comes around. The average payout could range from 8-20 pounds an hour, from what I’ve seen.

Tips: Before signing up for the university, be sure to search for scholarships (as there are several options, look them up on the university's website), and then try to interact as much as possible in the WhatsApp groups created by the University before coming; there are lots of other students who have similar concerns and might be residing in the same place you booked, and you could travel together. This reduces the stress a lot, especially for people traveling alone for the first time. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, there are tons of university resources which most of the students don’t even know about after one year, so utilize this (from LinkedIn courses, counseling services, mentor-mentee sessions, events and project participation, and much more). The city is vibrant and full of desi-owned stores as well.
Likes (Student Life): I think the University of Leeds has a thriving student life, especially at the Leeds University Union. There is always something happening every day, at every corner, and with hundreds of societies to join, I am sure you will find your clique soon. There is a reason Leeds is called a student-friendly city.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): I would say that even though there are plenty of opportunities, now with visa rule changes, it has become extremely hard to find a visa-sponsored role. Personally, I wanted to settle there after my master's, but with the global climate, I didn't feel like it was worth pouring in more money to sponsor a PSW; but if that works for you, great. But other than that, you can get a great degree, and the global market opens up for you. But also, don't just think it's all negative because some students from my batch did end up getting amazing roles right after graduation, it's a mix of hard work and luck.

Tips: The university offers a great student experience, but you have to be proactive and step out of your comfort zone to make the most of opportunities. Have an open mind, and try learning from people and situations to grow personally. Keep engaging in extracurriculars to have many things on your CV!
Likes (Student Life): So many things are going on in the university, across societies and clubs, that you would always have new skills to learn and, more importantly, never get bored. Plus, it's in the middle of England, so no place is too far to go. You will find opportunities to meet incredible people, and it depends on you to make the most out of those opportunities.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The jobs are reducing, and because of that, more students are completing them than ever. You need to have previous experience to get a good job. It's becoming a bit hard to get jobs as an international student because of visa issues, and the situation gets worse with an education in graduate visa duration.

Good uni but no uni life.
Tips: The university has a good ranking but lacks a lot of facilities. Very few interaction activities. Facilities are decent enough, but I would say there are no activities where you could connect with other students across campus. Also, I personally felt 1 year is way too little to complete your M.Sc. You don't get to explore very much.
Likes (Indian Food): The food options are plentiful enough, and in the supermarket too you get almost everything and of the best quality. The city is easy to travel in, as it is not a very big city and mostly students are in the city. You get a good crowd nearby, and almost all the brands are also available. All areas have a supermarket nearby where you can shop for everything easily.
Dislikes (Internships): No internships are available over there, nor any support from the university. There is a student support department, but they could just show you the openings, which are very difficult to get. Post-study, also, the job market has crashed very badly. It's very difficult to find part-time work as well.

Tips: If you're heading to Leeds, you need to show up ready to hit the ground running from day one. You can't just coast through this—you genuinely have to be proactive, get yourself to every single lecture, and take the seminars and mock exams completely seriously if you want to stay afloat. The workload demands that you build a solid daily reading habit early on, otherwise, the massive amount of material will pile up and bury you before you even realize it. Look, it's a massive grind. But if you actually put the work in, it pays off big time and leaves you completely set up for whatever you want to do next.
