MSc Business Analysis & Consulting - Batch of 2023
Offered by University of Strathclyde
4.1
The university was fun, easy-going with lots of things to grasp in very short amount of time.
Tips: The university is good and the city is good, and the people are fairly good, so it’s worth it in the end. Do some research, explore the job market, take as much help as you can from the careers department, and know your syllabus. You will also get a lot of freebies and opportunities for scholarships. There are plenty of Indian restaurants around, but finding one that serves good food is hard, and there are only a few South Indian restaurants in the city. I would rather cook my own food because it's more budget-friendly, and I can save a lot of money doing it myself.
Likes (Student Life): Student life is good. You'll have plenty of events to attend. The student lounge and student union are super helpful during studies. Also, you get lots of freebies by attending events. The staff is good. There are lots of presentations involved, but everyone is easy-going and there's not a lot of pressure.

Good university for practical studying.
Tips: There are many resources available, so utilize them. Glasgow is an amazing city, and Scotland is a beautiful country with a lot to explore. There are also quite a few scholarships available, which are displayed in great detail. It’s a pretty liberal university, and people here are so nice and warm. The faculty members, staff and students are very friendly and accepting. The campus is beautiful and has many hangout spots and places to study.
Dislikes (Internships): It's quite hard working on internships while being a full-time student, but it's not impossible. Some students have a good balance in managing their studies and internships. It also helps in future job prospects and there are quite a lot options available.

The city is very hospitable and the people are helpful and cooperative.
Tips: If you're coming to the University of Strathclyde for your master's degree, be aware that the courses go at a brisk pace. You'll need to keep up with everything going on in class and your personal life. The professors and students are very helpful, so don't hesitate to ask questions. I paid the full tuition without a scholarship, and my experience was mixed. On the one hand, it was a great experience, but on the other hand, I didn't get value for money. However, I did get a lot of exposure to people from different cultures and ethnicities, which helped my confidence and prospects. Do your research thoroughly and do not rely on anyone else's advice.
Likes (Safety): The city is a very hospitable place to stay, and my experience there was very pleasant. The campus security was quite reliable, and I didn't have any concerns about my safety. In fact, I would definitely recommend Glasgow as a great place to visit or study.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The options for getting settled in this country are looking quite slim. I don't believe that any improvement will happen shortly. I would like to immigrate here if I get a decent job.

Modern and practical way of learning.
Tips: The teaching at the University of Strathclyde is very practical, and they have modules that teach you about current trends and job requirements, which is a great way to prepare for the market. If you ever get lost or stuck somewhere, you can just ask someone here. Everyone is very friendly and happy to help out, which is part of what makes Glasgow such a warm, welcoming city. There are jobs available, but it's quite hard to get one, especially if you're studying for your master's degree and have so many assignments. However, it's not impossible. You just have to find the right way to apply for jobs and balance your university work and the job. It's all part of the experience, though. Overall, I am quite satisfied with my experiences.
Likes (Public transportation): Glasgow has amazing public transport. I also like that there is rarely any traffic, even in the very busy city centre. People rarely honk their horns, too, which is nice. I also really like that I can walk anywhere I want to go. The vibe here is very chilled and relaxed.

The career guidance service at the university is quite good and helpful.
Tips: I had to deal with a cultural shift because I had never been outside India. At least I got the basic scholarship worth around £3,000. I needed more support from the University for a part-time job search. It was £8 per week when I did it in 2021. They didn't help, so I had to look for a job myself. It's manageable, but only if you have enough money to survive. If your finances are limited, it's a tightrope walk. And it helps to be good at socialising, or at least trained up for it. Great university and course, and the country is good too. I wish I'd gotten the maximum out of it, but COVID prevented me from maximising my efforts. I am fairly satisfied with the university, and the course was even better than I expected.
Likes (Internships): I got my first job/internship through the university network when they sent out a bulk email to students, but the career guidance service at the university is actually quite good. They hold sessions where they guide you one-on-one. I got my job fairly quickly, but it might have just been luck.
