The pedagogical approaches that faculty bring to the teaching of architectural design derive both from their years of professional practice and from their engagement with design research within the environments at MIT and beyond
The great majority of students enter the program and graduate in 3.5 years. A small number of students who have completed a four-year undergraduate degree in architecture at another school may be admitted with advanced entry to the program and graduate in 2.5 years

The MArch program requires the following academic preparation:

A Bachelor's degree with high academic standing from a recognized institution or, in the judgment of the department, the equivalent of this degree.

One semester of satisfactory study in college-level mathematics (such as, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus).

One semester of satisfactory study in college-level natural sciences (such as, physics, biology, chemistry).

Two semesters of satisfactory study in college-level humanities and/or social sciences.

Students may be admitted with limited deficiencies in 2, 3, or 4 above, but this deficiency must be removed prior to entry into the first year of graduate study in the department. Pre-requisites may be taken at any accredited institution of higher learning, including on-line courses.

Letters from instructors are preferred unless student has been working for several years, in which case supervisors may be included
The application can be submitted with fewer than three letters, but student should be sure to remind their instructors to complete their letters

Portfolio- A digital portfolio is required of all MArch applicants, including those who do not have a previous architecture degree or background. The portfolio file should be exported as PDF for screen viewing. The file should contain no more than 30 pages. Two-page spreads are allowed, but each spread counts as one of the 30 pages.
Statement of Objectives of one or two pages must be uploaded to the application system

Funded Masters at MIT with lots of events and activities.

Tips: Students should know that many MIT Masters programs, including TPP, are fully funded through RAships. You can apply to multiple MIT programs in the same application cycle, and you can also apply for a dual master's degree with other departments after you are admitted to an MIT program. The allowance is almost $45,000 per year, in addition to tuition and health coverage. This amount is sufficient to live in Boston and save some money.

Likes (Student Life): There are lots of fun activities to do in Boston. You can also learn how to sail for free. There are many clubs on campus that you can join for free. Boston is very bikeable so you can bike anywhere within the city. It's very pretty in the fall. People also regularly rent cars to hike in New Hampshire.

Dislikes (Part time work): You will be on a RAship so there is no need for part time for most MIT grad programs except Sloan ones. Taking on additional part-time activities might be restricted by your F1 visa. You won't need additional sources of income over RAship money and you won't have the time for it.
