History
In 1890, Greenwich University was founded as the Woolwich Polytechnic, which was the second polytechnic university in the United Kingdom. In 1882, it received its first CGLI certificate. The university decided to launch part-time day courses in association with the Ministry of War in 1894. The year 1935 saw the Uni of Greenwich introduce the first sandwich courses in the country in partnership with the Ministry of War.
