History
In 1886, Arizona State University was established as the Territorial Normal School. The first graduate degree was offered in 1937. Then, in 1938, the School of Engineering was created. ASU gained its R1 status in 1994 and in 1996, ASU Polytechnic Campus was established. OPT Details
Post-OPT is a work opportunity to get some off-campus work experience and is required to be attained after the completion of a degree program. F1 students are eligible for 12-month OPT per degree level. Those 12 months can be used while earning the degree (Pre-OPT), after getting the degree (Post-OPT), or a combination of both (Pre-and Post-OPT).
With the approval as per the academic unit, full-time or part-time internships are allowed in Spring, Fall, and Summer. Academic justification is required for full-time internships during the Fall or Spring semesters. For UG students, part-time internships are recommended in the Spring and Fall semesters. The internships are allowed for international students at ASU as given below:
- Undergraduate: At least 1 credit hour per internship experience in addition to or included as part of degree requirements
