B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering - Batch of 2029

PEC is going to be great again.
Placements: In electrical engineering, there is a 74 percent batch, that is 120 students, who are placed with an average package of 12 LPA, so I think it's an average placement in which students get placed in Google, Texas, Red Bull, and 70 percent are AI and coding roles.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our course is good and similar to top colleges like IITs, but the hostel is average. The hostel is good, the food is of average quality, and the water is also not too good but not bad. It's good but a little bit more chlorine in it so it's average.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful except for one or two, and all are PhD holders and have good teaching skills. Curriculum is not that industry-ready as it is the old curriculum. Semester exams are of good quality and we can call them balanced. Most of the students passed.
Other: Here, a fest that is both cultural and technical is Pecfest, and it is one of the biggest fests in Northern India.

I mean apart from the old infrastructure and home state quota, other things are good.
Placements: Till 2024, placements were very good, but as of now, it's still good and getting better. Around 80 percent in circuital branches and 60-70 percent in non-circuital. All types of companies visit, for eg. Tech, Non-Tech, and Core. Placements are getting better this year. During the worst placement season, college still offered 70 percent placement in circuital branches.
Infrastructure: College is not that advantageous, it's a little bit old infrastructure with just adequate facilities, not too much. Labs are good, classrooms are ok-ok, old university-like classrooms. Library is good with capacity of around 100 people, Wi-Fi is okay. Hostels are old, mess food is not that much good, just eatable while ranting about it.
Faculty: Some teachers are helpful when they saw that their students are struggling. Teachers are well qualified and knowledgeable, but just like a typical government college, they are not very much keen and enthusiastic about teaching. Course curriculum is relevant. But Engineering Drawing is not relevant, especially for circuital branches. Here to pass the exam and making good CGPA is tougher. Here checking is hard, not polished. Every answer needs to be perfect.

A well-balanced college with strong academics, active campus life, & good opportunities for growth.
Placements: Nearly 65-75% percent students are placed this year with an average of 12 LPA, the median goes around 13.3 LPA, which is good, and the highest is around 52 LPA. The top recruiters are Siemens, L&T, Schneider Power, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs and many more good software companies. Nearly 60% students got internships, mostly in software roles.
Infrastructure: The labs are well-equipped for most of the core subjects like machines, power systems and control systems. Some equipment is new and well-maintained, while a few older setups do feel a bit outdated, but overall, the practical exposure is good. Classrooms are clean, spacious and have projectors, and the entire campus has decent Wi-Fi coverage, though it can get slow during peak hours. Hostel facilities are overall manageable. The rooms are simple but decent enough, and maintenance is okay if you raise issues on time. The washrooms and common areas are cleaned regularly.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful and knowledgeable, and most explain concepts clearly. The curriculum is relevant and gives good industry exposure. Semester exams are moderately difficult but manageable with study. The pass percentage is usually above 90%. It depends on the student anyway.
Other: I chose Electrical Engineering because it offers strong core opportunities and also keeps software roles open. The best things about the course are the solid technical foundation, good lab exposure and the flexibility to explore different career paths. I do wish some labs had more modern equipment and that the course included slightly more practical, industry-oriented projects.

PEC is still good, better than all private colleges and many NITs/IIITs.
Placements: The placement rate is around 70-80 percent. The highest package in the electrical branch 2024-25 is 52 LPA (Official data), and the average is 12.9 LPA (Official data). The top recruiting companies include Flipkart, Microsoft, Amazon, Atlassian, JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, etc. In core, we have Schneider, BMW, etc. Many hardworking students secured internships, and around 25-40 percent got internships in their 4th year. Many students opt for SDE roles instead of core electrical roles.
Infrastructure: You will get all the basic facilities, the Wi-Fi is not up to mark, it works at some places but not at all, the infrastructure is now old, and you won't get the movies type vibe, private colleges like Thapar have better infrastructure, but people come here for college life and placements, and the beauty of Chandigarh. The first year hostels are just okay, but the 2nd and 3rd years are still better and much cleaner. Tuesday is the worst, you won't be able to eat, but all other days are survival, canteen & market are good and cost-friendly.
Faculty: Government colleges' courses are not updated. Talking about any government college or NIT, the courses are old, you need to work for yourself for your placement, the college will just open an opportunity for you. The teachers here are helpful, whatever you ask, they try to help, and they are all educated with M.Tech or Ph.Ds. The semester exams are okay, but the attendance here is strict, below 50 percent, you need to repeat & below 75 percent, your grade is lowered (A to B+). At the end, 99 students managed to pass, though 1 was there who repeated the year.
Other: The crowd that comes here is hardworking and sincere, good peer life, and parents need not worry about all the adult things, students here stay away from them (90 percent are good, still some are there everywhere).

Summarize my college PEC.
Placements: Placements are comparable to many top NITs. Placements are kind nice as compared to the rank you can get here. Almost 80% of students get placed at this college. Top recruiters like JP Morgan, Samsung, Apple, Google, etc., come for placements. Electronics engineer is role offered in my course.
Infrastructure: There are various electrical engineering laboratories that are fully Wi-Fi, ACs in them. There are various hostels in PEC for boys and girls. Food is kind of good and rooms are okay. There are various grounds like athletes, football, and badminton for sports. The quality of rooms is okay and food quality and taste are good.
Faculty: Teachers are qualified from various top colleges like NITs, IITs, and many foreign universities. The curriculum is relevant apart from some old courses such as ed. There is no difficulty in passing the exam. People can pass the exam by studying one week before the exams.
Other: Due to my passion in electrical, I chose this course. PEC organizes PEC fest every year which is one of the biggest fest in North India. There are also many other fests organized including startup fair, summit, trivium, etc.

PEC Chandigarh is better than NIT in terms of its name and the quality of exposure one gets. NIT has the attractive 'NIT' tag, but there is a good legacy with PEC and the advantage can be seen as it is connected more to the industry. Whereas, NIT KKR has not been able to carry its good name.

Yes, you can get the admission. You have a good 12th board result plus you also have to have above 60 percent in your 10th result.

Hi Aman, PEC do not have provision for EWS with seat reservation or Scholarships. You can go through their prospectus to know more. https://pec.ac.in/sites/default/files/uploads/revised_admission_brochure_ug_special_categories18-19.pdf

Yes, you can get admission in PEC with that rank in SC category. Please check the last year's cut-offs and you have a good chance of getting CSE or electronics.
