About University of Melbourne, FEIT
The Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Melbourne located in Melbourne, Australia was established in 1861, 8 years after the establishment of the University of Melbourne. The main campus is located in Parkville, an inner suburb north of Melbourne's central business district, with several other campuses located across the state of Victoria. It is the oldest Engineering and Information Technology faculty in Australia. It was made into a faculty building in 1889. It educates innovators of the future, working with industry, government, and entrepreneurs to solve real-world challenges. In 2011, the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology celebrated its sesquicentenary, and the school developed a large range of events and activities to mark the occasion. The University of Melbourne has 6 more campuses in locations such as Southbank, Burnley, Dookie, Creswick, Werribee, and Shepparton.
The Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology is one of the largest Engineering research institutions in Australia, with a 2010 research income of $90 million. In 2011, the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology celebrated its sesquicentenary, and the school developed a large range of events and activities to mark the occasion. The school conducts leading interdisciplinary research on four key themes – Biomedical, Structured Matter, Information and Communication Systems, and Sustainable Systems and Energy.
It is home to a range of key research centers, institutes, groups and laboratories, including Australian Integrated Multimodal Ecosystem (AIMES), Cloud Computing and Distributed Systems (CLOUDS) Laboratory, Centre for Energy-Efficient Telecommunications (CEET), Centre for Spatial Data Infrastructures and Land Administration (CSDILA) and many more.

The University of Melbourne’s Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT) has begun its applications for the year 2026 intake. For undergraduate, the applications for Semester 1 will typically close by October 2025 and March 2026 for Semester 2. For postgraduate, the application deadline for start year intake will close in August 2025, decision will declare by the end of October and application for mid-year intake will close in January 2026, whose decision will out by the end of March 2026.
Applications must be submitted with all required documentation by the closing date to be considered for that semester. International students can apply at any time prior to the application closing dates, even if they have not received their final results and/or completion statements, provided they can supply a copy of their results to date.
International students apply directly to the University of Melbourne. From Jan 1, 2025, all new direct international applicants are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of AUD 150 (INR 8,384.15) for each application of Undergraduate course. International studentswill be prompted to pay this fee at the end of the online application process.
