Established in 1967, George Brown Polytechnic is a public college of applied arts and technology, based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Accredited by the local Government since 1967, its operations are taken care of by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities Act. During the formation of Ontario's Community College system, George Brown College was established in 1967. The Provincial Institute of Trades was founded in 1951 to offer apprentice training in place of the provincial Department of Labor. Later, in 1973, an expanded new campus in Casa Loma was established, and in 1976, the St James Campus was opened.
