Master of Engineering in Chemical and Biological Engineering - Batch of 2027

Had a good time living here.
Tips: Studying here so far has been a good academic experience. You will be expected to do prep work and go through the presentations before classes and sincerity is a necessity here. Professors are helpful and my peers have mostly been friendly and happy to help out whenever needed. The city is both scenic and historic so it's fun to explore.

Full-Time MBA - Batch of 2026

Great for student life.
Tips: My transition was peaceful and uneventful. In terms of culture shift, there isn't much of a difference as the campus is very global and multicultural. Things can be a bit expensive so you'll have to learn to adjust your lifestyle accordingly. The transportation around campus is quite reliable and convenient even at odd hours. The city is fun to explore and spend your youth in.

Bachelor of Applied Science in Manufacturing Engineering - Batch of 2025

UBC is good place to study if you do it properly.
Tips: The faculty is great but the first year of engineering decides what engineering stream you get to pick. You should focus on networking with professors and peers to make placement easier. At the same time, it’s a party school. A lot of events happen on and off campus that will keep you engaged.
Likes (Public transportation): Convenient and safe public transport. You can access the entire city using buses. Sky trains/ metros can be used to access other parts of the city. A public transport pass is issued as part of your tuition. There are cycles on campus that you can use to commute to and from classes.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The job market is in a very tough state. Very difficult to find a job as an engineer in the city. Many people had to move away from the city or to other provinces. The recent regulation changes have made it difficult to get a visa post graduation. Have to try harder than ever.

Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Engineering - Batch of 2025

Campus is great and everything is on-point to help international students feel at home.
Tips: It was a very smooth ride, as long as you're open to new experiences and new cultures. I got a scholarship after my first year, which helped with my second year tuition. I got this automatically for academic excellence based on my first year grades and my relationship with professors. I'm absolutely satisfied with my university and the country, but the course entirely depends on what you want. If you want something purely software, Computer Science is better. If you like a mix of hardware and software, computer engineering is great.
Likes (Safety): Campus is great and everything is on-point to help international students feel at home and things are very easy and accessible. Campus security is available 24/7 and helps with any needs. Also provisions of safe-walk where the AMS community would help in closer to campus vicinity for dropping people off late at night for safety concerns. The city is great, filled with cops to help protect you. But there are some areas like East Hastings which should be avoided due to the high homeless population and drug use.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Post study job opportunities entirely depend on the individual. Unlike India, there's no concept of college placements so it's all up to the students how they shape their skills and personality during their studies to find their required job. A lot of companies offer visas, but you come out of your degree with a 3 year PGWP (post graduate work permit) which every company is good with to start off. Packages are pretty good, in the teaching field you start off bare minimum at around 65,000 CAD per annum.

UBC is great but could be better.
Tips: UBC is not for everyone. It is a really expensive place and Vancouver in general is a pretty expensive city. Be mentally prepared to work hard be it your studies or your part time work. There's a lot of distractions here however you'll do really well if you just keep working and put your head down.
