Aarhus University History
The university was first established in 1928 and opened its doors for education. Later in September 1933, King Christian X inaugurated the first university building that was designed by Kay Fisker and C. F. Møller. The first five faculties of Aarhus University were established between 1935 and 1942 including Humanities, Medicine, Economics, Law, and Theology.
The student population at Aarhus University had grown from 5,000 to 15,000 between 1965 and 1977. Later in 1992, the Faculty of Sciences at the university was established. By the year 2011, the university that had nine faculties was now reduced to 4 faculties only. The Aarhus School of Engineering was later merged with the university in 2012.
