History
Ghent University was founded in 1816 by King William I and was inaugurated on October 9, 1817. Primarily, Ghent University started with just 190 students enrolled in the university and 4 faculties namely, Arts, Law, Medicine, and Science. The university witnessed disastrous consequences during the two political separations from the Netherlands in 1830.
