Hamburg University of Technology History
Hamburg Technical University dates back to May 22, 1978, when it was founded by its first president Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Hans Günter Danielmeyer. In 1988, the university set up six focal points of research. In 1991, TUHH became a member of the German Research Foundation (DFG). Also, the university's first graduate college on Biotechnology was established in the same year. In 1994, the university became the first German university to offer a bachelor’s study program in Engineering Science.
In 1997, Hamburg University of Technology started offering Master's programs for the international audience. By the year 2003, it became the first university in Germany to offer a dual study program. Later in 2010, project-based learning was introduced at the university. and in 2013, TUHH was awarded founder university status by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. In 2015, the university crossed the 7,000 mark in terms of student enrollment.
