New York Institute of Technology Vancouver Campus was founded in 1955 as a private not-for-profit university located in the State of New York, New York Institute of Technology. New York Technical Institute was first opened in 1910 after being New York Institute of Technology's predecessor. By the year 1955, New York Institute of Technology had opened under a provisional charter granted by the New York State Board of Regents to NYIT.
