4.7
World class research and global exposure.
Tips: I experienced several cultural shifts, particularly in social culture and in how identities here tend to be more individualistic rather than community-based. Trying out different activities and engaging in creative endeavours is highly valued, and it also helps in developing one's personality. It is beneficial to remain open to meeting people from different countries, as this helps expand one's horizons and provides valuable learning opportunities.
I secured an industrial project for my studies funded by Shell. It did not require a separate application. I am very satisfied with my course at Cambridge, as it has given me significant exposure to world-class laboratories and industrial collaborations. I also got the opportunity to pursue new hobbies, such as observing deep sky objects with telescopes, robotics, hiking and more. The UK is a great place to study and to develop one's skills.
Likes (Safety): Cambridge is a very safe city and as a solo female student, I have never had any qualms when visiting areas outside the University. Strict regulations are in place to ensure student safety. That said, for general safety it is advisable not to be out alone after midnight.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): I moved to the UK primarily for its world class research facilities and prestigious universities so immigration was not at the forefront of my mind when I applied for courses here. Permanent immigration is only considered if you are on a work visa not if you are a student or on a graduate visa.

Great learning environment.
Tips: Students should be prepared to adapt to the environment. The biggest adjustment was the difference in culture, food and people. These are some of the differences you'll need to navigate. I didn't apply for any scholarships so I'm not familiar with that process. I am satisfied with the university, my course and the country.

Academic, immersive and nerve wrecking experience.
Tips: Cambridge is a world-class university that is very rigorous academically. If you think getting in is tough, wait until you start studying your course. The professors are genuinely helping and profound in their scholarship. The support provided by the university is also immense but even after all of this, you should be the one who needs to do hard work.
Likes (Value for money): I went to Cambridge on a full scholarship which funded my stay, tuition and airfare fees and therefore, I actually saved some money instead of spending on it. Other than that, I would say that apart from technical and professional courses at any UK university, courses in humanities are always less preferable to spend your money on.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Although I would like to settle in the UK permanently, it is becoming increasingly hard to settle there with tightening immigration rules and the local population's outlook towards immigrants in general. The economy is also weakening in the UK and with the slowdown the chances of getting good jobs are diminishing.

Master of Science in Computer Science - Batch of 2026
Offered by University of California, Los Angeles
3.6
best research experience ever
Tips: If you're eyeing a grad program at UCLA, you need a massive reality check before you board that flight to LA. You have to be ready to study like crazy, network constantly at every single opportunity, and dive deep into actual research. But here is the bitter truth: do not even bother doing an MS here if you aren’t already exceptionally good at something specific in your field. The US job market does not care about your degree alone, and employment is absolutely not guaranteed. There is zero spoon-feeding and no campus placement system like back home. If you don't have the grit to hunt down a job entirely on your own in India without relying on your parents' connections or university placement cells, you are going to struggle heavily out here. Do not make the move unless you're fully prepared to hustle for every single break.

Eye opening and new experiences.
Tips: I initially had great fun when I got here as the campus environment is very happening and welcoming. The cost of tuition and living is quite expensive here and I had to take out a loan. You can do some asking around and see if there are any good scholarship or financial aid options both from your home country as well as the US. Professors expect you to be interactive and classes tend to move at a flow. Group projects tend to get a bit frustrating for me personally.

Learning to live in the unexpected.
Tips: I experienced a lot of growth and changes in myself after coming here. College for me has been a rewarding experience although the job market is very chaotic right now. Things are a lot more unpredictable than it have ever been but if you network here and take the help of your professors, you can possibly buy time.

Beautiful campus with lots to do.
Tips: My first impression was that the campus is full of life and is filled with people from all over the world especially Indian students. The culture is vibrant, accepting yet competitive. Most on campus opportunities are research oriented or TA roles and the campus itself is quite safe at all hours. The cost of living especially rent can be quite high.

Buzz filled campus vibe.
Tips: My first couple of months here were both overwhelming and chaotic as there is simply so much going on at all times on campus and the minute you get accustomed to your classes, the semester is over and you have to move on to the next. This university is much more expensive than other of its counterparts so better make the experience worth it if you plan on coming here. Involve yourself in research and projects as they look good later.
