MSc in Renewable Energy Management - Batch of 2027
3.9
A valuable and practical learning experience at TH Köln
Tips: The experience of studying at TH Koeln proved to be positive and beneficial for me. Firstly, it consists of the interdisciplinary character of the Renewable Energy Management program, combining technical knowledge with economic, ecological, and management aspects. Secondly, the international character of the class allows one to gain some knowledge from representatives of different professions and cultures. Besides, one must adapt to the new environment in terms of the ability to study independently, administrative procedures, and languages. It is necessary not only in daily routines but also at work, even though the courses are taught in English. Access to academic and scientific facilities of the university, along with the prospects of career growth, is offered. There are various academic grants according to individual abilities. In general, I am satisfied with the university and its program and would recommend it to those interested in renewable energy.
Likes (Value for money): The value for money offered by TH Köln, given its high-quality education, infrastructure, and practical classes, is another factor in its favor. It is due to the public status of TH Köln that the cost of studying at TH Köln is low, but one still has to pay tuition fees. The cost of living is likely to be quite high because accommodation in Cologne is expensive.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): International graduates have some prospects of looking into career options and settling in the country once they finish their studies. This could be done depending on the need for work and living arrangements, and depending on how well the individuals would be able to cope with it. Landing a good job is one of the first things that should be done, but this would take some time.

A university that breaks traditional education and builds Skills and Confidence.
Tips: It's expensive compared to the German method of education, and it's not a traditional school where exams mean everything.90% of our work was presentations, working with companies, event management, and networking. If you are someone who cares about marks, then CBS is not for you.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): Because I know the immigration option personally, they may be slow, but they did help me in an excellent way. However, I am not seeing permanent settlement, so that is not to my knowledge. The staff are all friendly, so I trust them. Please research more from people who got their permanent residence from Ku00f4ln.
Dislikes (Part time work): The university will guide you with your career and has its own job-seeking portals, but part-time work is something that does not fall under the university's responsibilities. If u have skills, you will get part-time work. German is very important for part-time work.

MSc in Renewable Energy Management - Batch of 2019
4.9
TH Köln, Renewable Energy Management
Tips: 1. Yes, the German universities are quite easygoing as compared to what we indians generally expect.
2. No, the chances are very rare, as there are no tuition fees.
3. Satisfied in general with the course, the city, and Germany. A little bit of focus will do the job.

Cologne University of Applied Sciences : what to expect?
Tips: The most important thing you should know before joining is that the university is very diverse and liberal. The grading is highly focused on assignments and research papers, concept of lectures and homework is mostly not considered in the grading, but attending lectures is very important.
Likes (Value for money): Cologne has a lot of things to do, and it's one of the most happening places in Germany, you have a lot of international students from various parts of the world. The location of the city is very much in Central Europe, you can go to Paris in 4 hrs, Amsterdam in 3hrs and so forth.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): The faculty is very diverse and highly educated. The faculty have also been at numerous universities or worked overseas, this experience gives them a really great understanding of teaching a highly international group of students. Plus, you can also email them, and they can get you connections for work, a thesis, and advice.

Master of Arts (MA) in Educational Science in Intercultural Communication and Education (In German) - Batch of 2026
Offered by University of Cologne
2.8
Theoretical, Prestigious, opportunities
Tips: I would suggest choosing the University more for its location, being in a big city offers you more opportunities and more international opportunities. University of Cologne is very difficult to get into and has a big name, but the courses are heavily academically oriented and sometimes lack the practical depth required in the job market. But the location is golden, Ku00f6ln, Du00fcsseldorf and Bonn have a huge number of Job opportunities and are very friendly and good for international students.
Likes (Safety): I think you can access most public spaces safely, even at night around the campus. I have not faced any form of discrimination at the campus or at the University as a person of colour. Secondly, as a woman, I have accessed the library at night and come home completely safe.
Dislikes (Value for money): The course was very theoretical and less practical. If you are taking an academic loan and indebting yourself for this course, in my honest opinion, it is not worth it. I studied on a full scholarship, that is why it worked out, but if I had to pay out of my own pocket, I am not sure if I would be comfortable doing it.

MSc in Computational Sciences - Batch of 2026

Good education but not fitting exactly into job market
Tips: German culture is quite different; they are more introverted than Indian students, but they are still kind in most cases, at least in my study program. They are not as welcoming as Indians. No scholarships. Satisfied with university but could have offered or tried more in terms of placements.
Likes (Value for money): Yes, it is extremely low considering the standard of education. There is definitely a lot of effort put into improving the quality of education on a regular basis. The only issue is that the coursework doesn't directly match jobs outside academia.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I usually prefer cooking for myself. Indian food here generally costs around 15 euros or more per main dish at least, and they taste mediocre. I think I make better food, and it's cheaper and healthier to eat at home. If I eat out, it's only because I'm too tired or craving something specific.

Master of Science in Physics - Batch of 2025
Offered by University of Cologne
4.3
The cities are quite safe and friendly in Germany.
Tips: There are plenty of difference cultural, however it is not vast in the big cities. The BCGS scholarship is the best for Physics students coming to Bonn and Cologne. I am quite satisfied with the course and in general, I like Germany as well however finding full time jobs in 2026 is not easy. You should be aware of this.
Likes (Safety): In Germany the cities are quite safe and friendly, and the campus is open; in fact you can choose to go sit in any given class. Outside the university, most of the time it is safe, but in big cities like every part of the world, there are pretty crimes. I felt safe for the most part.
Dislikes (Internships): Finding internships is something that the college may help with only a little, as there is no placement cell, etc. However, there are possibilities to look for internships through friends and referrals, which is the best case scenario, and always try looking for connections.

Master of Science (MSc) in Sociology in Social Research - Batch of 2021
Offered by University of Cologne
3.6
University of Cologne is academically oriented.
Tips: Germans are very cold and serious. I didn't have any scholarship. Overall, I was pretty satisfied with my experience. Job market in Germany is good, but not for non German speakers. Professors and the university staff are usually very friendly and polite. It is better to learn German to better fit into the society.
Likes (Value for money): As it is super cheap compared to British or Irish or USA universities. German universities cost around 1k or 2k per year only. So it is great for value for money. However, not speaking Germany is hard for finding a job and living in Germany. Therefore up to you.
Dislikes (Part time work): Unfortunately I joined during covid so we could not experience part time work or seminars, or any online activities. We did not have the opportunity to experience ordinary student life due to the pandemic. But maybe now it should be better. Most of our classes were offline.
