MSc in Marketing Management and Digital (MMD) - Batch of 2025
3.2
Limited part-time work opportunities.
Tips: The course heavily emphasised the luxury industry, making it suitable for candidates with prior knowledge. Alternatively, students should have a strong interest in the luxury sector. While the course is overall satisfactory, some professors were disappointing. No scholarships were offered. The course provides a decent level of marketing expertise, making it best suited for those with little to no prior knowledge.
Likes (Indian Food): Indian food options are readily available both on and around campus, as well as throughout Singapore. There are good South and North Indian restaurants. Prices per dish typically range from 15-20 SGD. Little India offers a wide variety of Indian cuisine.
Dislikes (Part time work): There aren't many options, and they often conflict with college timings. The college offers very limited opportunities, and the competition is high. While there are a few unpaid student roles, off-campus opportunities are rare, and it's not easy to find one in your field of interest, though a few exist.

Many international events and get-togethers.
Tips: First, make sure you have good German speaking skills at least A2- B2 level. Make sure you get affordable houses. Also, it's optional to study French since the state is near France. The German in Saarland is a bit different to High German (hoch Deutsch). The best experience you can have here.
Likes (Part time work): There are a lot of international students and the support provided by the university is also really good. There are events and a lot of meet and greet and also an international council.
Dislikes (Student Life): The university has a great atmosphere. The student and faculty are very nice. Also most of the facilities are available in the university for example gym, library and the rest of the sports ground. They provide many IT related courses. It's well known for the Cyber Security course.

Master of Science in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence - Batch of 2026
Offered by Saarland University
2.8
Limited part-time opportunities.
Tips: The coursework syllabus includes some in German and others in English. The university is mostly theory-heavy and research-oriented. There would be a lot of the latest theoretical concepts that would be a little math heavy. If you are looking for industry oriented experience, this is not the college for you.
Likes (Public transportation): The Deutschland ticket makes it easy to travel anywhere and since it's included in the sem fee, you can travel anywhere in Germany. You are going to pay for this ticket in the semester fee, which allows you to take all buses and local trains in Germany. This is true for most universities in Germany.
Dislikes (Part time work): Availability of part time is limited but still abundant depending on language requirements. Here there are a lot of jobs depending on what you are looking for. You can find technical jobs within the campus and there are several other jobs within the main city.

New opportunities, hard work and determination is a must.
Tips: Students should know which course they want to study before joining the university. The courses are tough, and it’s better to be fully motivated before you start studying. I am partially satisfied with my university and my time in Germany. However, there is still hope for new students who are thinking of joining. The German language is also critical. It will be difficult to get a job without it.
Likes (Student Life): Student life is really great at Saarland University. The lectures are mostly in the afternoon, and we can arrange our own schedules to give us free time. There are also many free events organised for international students every week, so there’s always something for us to do in the evenings or on the weekends.
Dislikes (Value for money): There is no tuition fee as it is a German public university, but the program is more theoretical and research-based. It is a 95% research-based course, so I believe corporate-level practical skill sets cannot be gained just through the program. It's the best university if you want to pursue a Ph.D. afterwards.

Amazing experience with lots of opportunities.
Tips: The course requires your attention; you can't just study one night before the exam to pass. You need to study regularly and attend the lectures and tutorials in order to pass the exam. It can be tough at times; some of the subjects are really challenging and might require more in-depth research and knowledge of the topic. The faculty is super helpful, especially for international students. Try to often engage and interact during classes. The best university in Europe for CS programs. Internships are available, but since Saarbrücken is a small city, most roles require German language fluency.

There are a lot of opportunities and work is very flexible.
Tips: It is really important to attend the lectures. I have received one scholarship. The course and staff are really good, the teaching is also really good, the country is a bit hard to navigate, adapt to, and understand, but it’s really good once you start learning the language. Feel free to reach out to the professors if you have any doubts or uncertainties. Also, try to participate and engage as much as you can.
Likes (Value for money): The value of the education is high because I am paying only 300 euros per semester, which is very affordable compared to other countries like the US, the UK, and Canada. I don't have a lot of financial stress, so I can just focus on my studies. The cost of living is also very low here. I think the value for the price is worth it.
Dislikes (Part time work): There are a lot of opportunities. Work is very flexible so we can work and study at the same time and it will not affect our grades. The average payout is 15 euros per hour but it totally depends on where you are working and how much experience you have in that work.

The university is research-oriented and provides us with lots of potential resources.
Tips: It is really research-oriented, so you can attend most of your classes without ever having to code in them. However, some of the subjects are really challenging and might require a more in-depth knowledge of the topic. For instance, if you took a cryptography course at your previous university, you may find that it is usually harder at Saarland University.
Likes (Value for money): The university is really good and a super value for money. The money you pay goes towards the public transport, which is valid throughout the rest of Germany, so I believe it is really worth it. Also, some of the money also goes towards the student club, which helps organise events and conduct voluntary events.
Dislikes (Internships): Internships are available, but since it's a small city, most roles require German language fluency. This limits opportunities for international students, but with enough experience, you can find something. But it might be harder to find specific jobs, and you need to be more open to other possibilities.

The course is very much theoretical. It is good for research purpose.
Tips: There are a lot of cultural changes here. I had to do everything myself from the paperwork to making appointments. I had to cook my own food which wasn't at all like what I was used to back home. There are a lot of things that are different and I think it's really helpful if you can get a good understanding of German before you come. If you study the language before you get here you'll have a good advantage when you start looking for a job.
