Kingston University London - beautiful student life with healthy academics but find your own job
Tips: You have to be ready for everything. The cultural shift took some time, as we lived in our indian mindset where we adjust to everything. In the UK, nobody judges you, nor does anyone really care about you. They are kind people, but still, you know it's not your home country. You have to stay independent all the time. No one will be there to rescue. You will learn a lot of survival tricks while staying there. Overall, the UK journey was a roller coaster where I was working hard for the degree and for the finances. I had high hopes that I would get sponsorship, but it didn't last for long. I was very disappointed knowing that I didn't get that scholarship. It was 5000 pound aid, and it slipped out of my hands. Later I came to know it was highly competitive for an indian to crack that. There are a lot of aspects to it. I was satisfied with the curriculum but not with post-internships or placements. It was a bit worrying as we have an uncertain future after the Master's. So, in short, we need to find our own place in the UK job market.
Likes (Public transportation): The university has its own college bus. So it is easy to commute to the university if you are staying in the same town. There is a public bus or university bus always available for everyone. The bus is very affordable when compared to other modes like Uber or Yulu rides. The underground tubes are the best way to travel in and around London.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): For me the PSW renewal felt too much. Being a student who has already spent a lot in tuition feels, the visa feels should be much lesser. I had to come back due to personal commitments. But if given a chance I would definitely settled in a town like Kingston Upon Thames. It is a very pleasant place to live in with kind people around you.

Finding a job in the UK is very difficult due to high competition and limited opportunities.
Tips: While the university is good, know how to get take most out of it. Attend lectures, talk to professors, and take guidance from them. In addition, start applying for jobs at least 3 to 4 months before the end of your course. Employers take time to reply, and there are many applicants.
Likes (Value for money): The university is amazing and has free bus transportation. Also, the student accommodation is good, where you share the kitchen space but can get an en-suite room. You can access a common room to spend time with your friends and do your assignments. Overall, Kingston is an amazing place.
Dislikes (Internships): Finding a job in the UK is very difficult due to high competition and limited opportunities. To succeed, you have to tailor your CV, talk to people, and be active on LinkedIn. If you are seeking part-time employment, you must carry your resume with you when you visit random stores and ask if there are any available jobs.

No big companies hire interns, especially students.
Tips: Use your network of important people, as that is the only way you are going to get a job. Forget big companies and go wherever is going to work best, save what you can, and travel if you have extra money. One thing that I regret not doing was travelling while I worried about jobs and everything. Just live life and you'll figure it out.
Likes (Public transportation): Great transportation as there is connectivity everywhere and it's way economical and convenient, as Uber and a car cost as much as people’s groceries for a week. Be aware of areas you should not visit, especially by public transportation, as those areas are very unsafe. The rest is great. Get a student Oyster card, as it saves 40% of the cost. Don’t use a bank card, as they don’t have a spending cap. A 40% discount is a lot; that’s about 1,000 pounds per year.
Dislikes (Internships): No one gives internships. No big companies hire interns, especially students, as they do not hire students who are only allowed to work 20 hours. And guess what, we are not allowed to work more than 20 hours. That is something you need to understand before you go. It's not demotivating, but it's a taste of reality.

College provides a portal where you can see and apply for internships.
Tips: Make sure you have relevant experience; otherwise, you'll struggle to find a job post studies. I saw that most students were coming to the UK without having proper preparation. Those students struggle a lot with part-time and full-time jobs. If you are not planning to work in the UK, your purpose is only to complete studies, then it's okay to come to Kingston.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transport was easily available. Even college has its own buses, which makes commuting very easy for students. You can apply for a student Oyster card to make your travel cheaper and faster. My personal monthly expenditure on transport was below 100 pounds.
Dislikes (Internships): Internships were not offered, and the one that I managed to find on my own was not suitable with my visa restrictions of 20 hours a week. College does provide a portal where you can see and apply for internships, but those internships are very restricted because of the visa restrictions.

The university is good, the faculty are sweet yet unpredictable.
Tips: The college offers scholarships to students with financial difficulties. I wasn't qualified for it, so I didn't apply. But my time at Kingston was a life-changing experience. I transitioned in a lot of ways, not just because I was at Kingston, but because it's a new country of living for me. So from independent living to studying and figuring out everything on my own, I changed as a person in my thoughts and personality and gained more confidence, plus learned a lot about the Western culture as well.
Likes (Public transportation): The campus has its own bus service, which is great. There is an app for it, and one can see its schedule. The bus connects the campus to all the important city centre places and to the other campuses as well. It's free, hygienic, and a service that not many other universities provide.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): The faculty was approachable and accessible only during work hours because one can have queries anytime. The teaching methodology is good, with a mix of theoretical and practical work that provides good exposure and mental stimulation to prepare you for the real world. However, I thought the faculty was not very diverse in terms of nationality. There were Indian professors and some of Indian origin, but apart from the local British faculty, there weren't many others, or perhaps my department didn't have many.

I feel that Kingston University is a platform to upskill your career.
Tips: I suggest the students first make sure to apply early so that you will get the offer from Kingston University early. I also recommend to choose the student's campus accommodation in the University itself which is safe and cheaper rather than apartment.

This University has given me a platform to be successful in life.
Tips: I recommend the students to find the accommodation early as soon as they get the admit from the University. The on-campus accommodation is a good choice without any hassle. If your preference is on campus accommodation then book it as soon as possible without being late.
Likes (Part time work): I must say the quality of life in the campus of Kingston University is amazing. We can do lots of fun activities apart from classes. We do have many activities to do and all the international students from different countries share their thoughts and are friendly.
Dislikes (Student Life): The quality of faculty at Kingston University is really amazing and I would rate 5 out of 5. The faculty is research oriented and they teach the syllabus in an understanding manner. The way of faculty here is research and practical oriented and they also help students in many aspects.

A good college and recommended college for engineering.
Tips: You never have to look back once you join the field. There are no caste discriminations.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): The state offers you a high paid salary job and offers you to stay and work there. You get paid high with all the accomodations for free. Less hours of job and salary.
Dislikes (Safety): I felt to give 4 star because every one has their own opinion. There are no such activity that concerns your safety. Everyone is busy with his or her own life no one cares about other.

A Valuable UK Study Experience with Great Career Opportunities
Tips: That said, the adjustment is real. The way universities teach here is different. You’re expected to think critically, challenge ideas, and form your own arguments rather than reproduce what you’ve been taught. Assessment styles can catch you off guard if you’re used to a more structured system back home. Nobody is going to remind you to attend, study, or submit — that responsibility lands squarely on you.
So does everything else. Cooking, budgeting, managing a house, figuring out why the boiler makes that noise — it all becomes yours to handle. London, in particular, is an expensive city, and the gap between what you budgeted and what you actually spend has a way of widening quickly. Finding accommodation early isn’t just good advice — it’s the kind of thing you’ll wish someone had told you more firmly before you arrived.
City University itself genuinely delivers on the academic and professional side, especially through the CS course. The industry experience component is worth taking seriously — it’s one of the things that meaningfully separates your CV from someone who studied the same subjects somewhere else.
The careers side takes effort though. Use the career services, show up to networking events even when they feel awkward, and start looking at internships and placements earlier than feels necessary. The competition is real, and the students who land the best opportunities usually started six months before everyone else thought to begin.
Likes (Safety): In general, I feel secure living and studying in London. The university takes security measures, and public transport makes it easy to get around the city. However, because London is such a big city, students need to stay alert at all times, especially when traveling late at night.
Dislikes (Internships): It is possible to obtain valuable work experience in the UK, but internships are quite hard to obtain, particularly for foreign students who might need visa sponsorship for their future graduate positions. Some assistance is provided by the university, but it is up to students themselves to search for, network for, apply to, and interview for these internships. There are indeed internship opportunities available to CS students.

Excellent faculty, practical learning, and great student life
Tips: But before joining the university, it is necessary for a person to be ready for the cultural shift in the culture that is expected at the university, especially when living alone in a new place. The reality is that even if people at the university are highly hospitable, it does take a while to adjust. But the point here is that I have not been offered any scholarship at the university, but there are partial scholarships available to apply for.
Likes (Quality of faculty): It is also important to add that the professors in my department are very friendly and do not lock their doors at any point in time; therefore, it becomes easier for one to contact them whenever one has a question outside lectures. The style of teaching applied by them is very practical in nature and includes both theory and case studies along with group discussion, thus creating an industrial environment.
Dislikes (Part time work): It is never an easy task to get employment as a student since jobs are scarce and competitive. Yet, outside the campus, there are a lot of job opportunities in shopping stores and restaurants for a student who wants to start looking at an early hour of the day. It is very difficult to balance studies and work for twenty hours; yet, it is doable with proper management. The pay rates range from u00a310-u00a312 per hour.

Interactive, social and high supported university life as a student in London.
Tips: Joining City has been a smooth transition from high school. I have found the university to be quite supportive when it comes to the different facts of student life in London. I did not avail of any scholarships as I applied through Clearing. However, the City does have academic scholarships for post-final exams wherein a certain part of tuition is cut off if you are within 10% of the highest scores. I have enjoyed my journey at City and London both. It has been a life-changing experience which I can positively say would have a great impact on my life in times to come.

Satisfied - worth the money
Tips: There are a lot of Indian students, so no big cultural shift. There was one scholarship from the university of 2000 pounds which was provided to most of the international students. Very satisfied with the university - better than many higher rank universities at various levels. We get good support from the university.
Likes (Indian Food): It is very easy to get access to Indian vegetables and groceries within London. Though there are a lot of Indian restaurants, the cost of living in London is so high that it is not affordable to eat outside regularly. Cooking is a must - you may eat outside once or twice a week.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): At present, the job market is not that great in the UK where the demand is less while the competition is so high. Especially it is very difficult to get a job with sponsorship. India seems to thrive better. There is a 50% chance for me to settle permanently in this country.

There weren't any internships given by the college.
Tips: There are scholarship opportunities available; you just need to inquire. I was fortunate to find a great opportunity, and with a good profile, I was able to secure a bursary from the university, which greatly helped with the transition and made me feel more comfortable.
Likes (Indian Food): Indian food is almost everywhere in London, and it is easily available due to the population. As London is quite a diverse place, food from other parts of the world is also worth trying, as it is more inclined to suit most palates. But yes, I preferred cooking at home.
Dislikes (Internships): There weren't any internships given by the college. You need to go look for them. The guidance was great in terms of understanding the course, the practical application. I'm glad I chose the City as it gave me good exposure to industry experts through guest lectures.
