Master in Finance - Batch of 2027
4.3
Highly academic oriented and multi cultural.
Tips: There are many Indians, and the other national people are friendly as well. Scholarships are available, but I did not avail myself of any. I can give 7.5 out of 10 for the university and course. And 8 for the country. The weather can get crazy sometimes, and it will take time to adjust.
Likes (Public transportation): Getting around Munich is insanely easy since the trains, trams and buses run pretty much everywhere all the time. The only real issue is that the tickets are getting pretty pricey. The campus itself is super close to the city center, so the overall connectivity is solid. Just don't expect a ton of food options or cheap places to eat right around the college—the selection nearby is honestly pretty weak.
Dislikes (Internships): The university gives good guidance on internships. However, there is too much demand and also the language barrier; the skills alone are not enough. There are a good number of job openings, but also there is too much demand for each role. Knowing German definitely helps.

Strong Finance Program and Positive experience at Munich Business School.
Tips: If you're coming straight from a job like I did, just know that adjusting back to university life is going to take a minute. Flipping that switch from working a full-time routine back to sitting in classes was a total reality check at first, and it took me a while to get used to the pace. The whole learning style here is definitely a bit of a culture shock but it’s completely manageable once you find your rhythm.
I actually lucked out and got a scholarship too mostly just from applying super early with decent grades—so definitely check the uni portals for that kind of stuff. But yeah, even with the initial hiccups the course turned out great and living here has been a wild ride.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Professors here are super chill and honestly really easy to talk to. Zero reason to hesitate if you need to pop into their office or ask a quick question. Plus, the teaching style is pretty hands-on—none of that just reading off boring slides crap. They just break down the complicated stuff using everyday examples and random discussions. Honestly makes everything way easier to digest.
Dislikes (Internships): Landing a job is honestly a massive headache if you don’t speak the language, since pretty much every local company expects you to know German. But if you actually put in the work to learn it and build a solid resume, things get way easier. The uni does have a career support team and some job portals to point you in the right direction, but at the end of the day, you still have to do all the heavy lifting yourself.

Munich Business School is a great opportunity for someone who wants to learn from industry expects.
Tips:
Before joining this college, check the curriculum and faculty, and get in touch with students who are already taking this course. I would also recommend checking with the university to get details about your classmates so you can better align yourself and learn from the best environment. Public transportation in Germany is very feasible and convenient. You can get transportation from anywhere within a 10-15 minute walk. Transportation such as trams, buses, S-bahn, and U-bahn are very easily available. And the best part is that you can use all these transportation options with a single ticket, the Deutschland Ticket.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The job market is a bit tricky these days and companies in Germany are playing off people as well. But it depends on a lot of other aspects such as your course language skills and past experience. Networking opportunities could be easily available if you are open and willing to go to events and like to meet new people.

University that transform students to be globally minded, innovative and responsible.
Tips: Very expensive but if you learn and make use of the opportunities then it's the best value for money. Moreover, the professors are directly from the corporate world and you learn real-time lessons about what is useful in the professional world. The business project was very useful for me at the beginning.
Likes (Safety): No racism. No gun culture like in the USA. Even at mid-nights there‘s public transportation and anyone can freely roam anywhere across Germany. Most Germans are friendly and supportive. Personally never had any concern regarding safety in last 3 years.
Dislikes (Part time work): You need to know German language for working outside. But there are plenty of English-speaking companies offering working students internship roles, you need to work a bit on your profile and skills for getting those. Due to the hourly limit strictly being followed, you cannot earn more.

Good decision to come here if you have high expectations.
Tips: You should know that only some courses have option of internship in Semester 3 so look for those. Other courses have compulsory programmes.
Studies are not so great but they are good to integrate professionally into the market.
It is a multicultural university.
Great array of course choices available.
Likes (Public transportation): Munich has excellent transportation system with buses, trams, bahns and regional trains. Very easy to move around and walk. Will not miss having my own vehicle. May be a good decision to get a cycle. Google maps are very good and handy. All timings and route options are accurate.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): The professors are not so great and the studies were average. There is an option to get a German degree and legally find a job. German students tend to stick together so difficult to get into their groups. Simple exams, nothing compared to the toughness of Indian education system.

Practical Learning Experience with Good Career Opportunities
Tips: Before coming to FAU, the biggest reality check you need to prepare for is just how radically different the German university system is compared to India. Back home, you're used to a lot more structure, clear syllabi, and professors keeping you on track. Here at FAU, you are entirely on your own. The professors are definitely knowledgeable and will give you the basic roadmap during lectures, but they will absolutely not spoon-feed you. You’re expected to teach yourself the actual depth of the concepts, stay on top of massive reading lists, and take full ownership of your assignments from day one.
There are no internal marks or constant quizzes to force you to study throughout the semester. Everything usually rides on one massive final exam at the very end, which catches a lot of Indian students off guard. If you slack off at the beginning thinking you can just cram in the last two weeks, you will fail. Procrastination is a death sentence here. You genuinely have to build strict self-discipline and micromanage your own time right from the first week just to keep your head above water.

Multicultural university in a beautiful international town
Tips: The university is full of opportunities, but you have to find them out. The course is very helpful. Choose your internships and projects intelligently with a proper future plan. Important advice: In Germany, German language skills are very important. Without language skills, it is easy during student life but becomes difficult to crack the job market in German industry. So, take it seriously and improve your German level up to B2 or C1 over the course of your studies.
Likes (Value for money): There is no tuition fee for this course or for most of the courses here in this university. You have to pay a small amount for semester fees (120€ - 130€) for the student union and discounted public transport. Regional public transport (and DeutschlandTicket) is included in the semester fee.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Job roles offered are good. But the problem is current job market is down. Sometimes industrial internships help moving to full-time industry jobs, but that is also not guaranteed. If someone wants to stay in academia (pursuing Ph.D. and further), the options are more than industry jobs. In addition, the university funds are also being cut down due to overall economic crisis.

Transitioning into Progressive Academia
Tips: There is definitely a cultural shift, but Germany allows you to be more professional and efficient with work-life balance. I had the Max Planck Scholarship, the Femtec Women Career Scholarship, and the graduate last semester scholarship. I am quite satisfied with my course, especially since it is quite rigorous. The country is fine; it can vary personally how your expectations align with what the country has to offer.
Likes (Indian Food): Erlangen and Nuremberg have a lot of Indians, and therefore we have a lot of options for restaurants and grocery shops where you can get almost everything that you can think of, except for endemic spices or ingredients. The pricing is usually 20-30 euros per person in. Outing, and for groceries, it can vary a lot based on how much Indian cooking one prefers. I prefer cooking for myself, and my monthly Indian food grocery bills are usually 50 euros.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The companies can sponsor the visa; that is not a problem, but for international students, the market is not the most permissive since it requires language eligibility as well as specific skills that a lot of students struggle with. Within my course, most people opt for a Ph.D.; therefore, academia provides them the umbrella of staying employed and continuing post-master's.

College was good and fun.
Tips: I transitioned a lot. I changed my week of studying and a lot of cultural shifts. I did not avail in his scholarship and I am satisfied with the university, course and country though the course curriculum could be a little better but it's fine.
Likes (Indian Food): They had an Indian week in the canteen and Indian food was much wanted by everyone and even if not an Indian week they had enough options for food which were budget friendly and healthy. The food was tasty and many canteens were there.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The job market wasn't supported at all in teaching industry-required skills. They said skills change every five years, so it's up to you. There were no placements from the university, either part-time or full-time.

The university is very big and professors are very kind and helpful.
Tips: It is not necessary that you settle here. There are multiple factors. You need to have a good job and have good knowledge of German too. You need to find a job by yourself and the university will not help in this case so you need to be independent.
Likes (Indian Food): There are lots of options to eat but in the veg section. You will find something that has an Indian taste. But all the foods that I have tasted were very good. They are also cheap for students so you can buy them at a less price. But in the supermarket, you find multiple options and also there are lots of Indian markets.

FAU is a research-heavy and interdisciplinary university.
Tips: FAU is a research-heavy and interdisciplinary university, apt for those who are self-motivated and want to deep drive into niche areas of Science and engineering. The structure is more flexible than rigid, so students need to be independent learners. Also Erlangen is not a big city, so be prepared for a quieter student life, especially if you're used to the buzz of metro. That being said, Nuremberg is just 20 minutes away. I did receive two scholarships, DAAD PROMOS and the FAU Graduation Scholarship for short-term academic mobility (for my thesis). I applied through the university portals. Both were one time payment scholarships. The freedom to choose modules switch focus areas and be part of research projects has made a huge difference. The pros are approachable, and there's plenty of support for career development. Materials Science and Engineering at FAU offers both depth and flexibility. I have worked on everything from corrosion to electrocatalysis and even dipped my toes in ML for energy materials. Germany isn't perfect, but it has given me academic freedom, affordability and a sense of self I wouldn't trade for anything.

Decent college. But going for TUs is advisable. Also should come with some professional experience.
Tips: The course lets you specialize in the field of your choice. It's very flexible. Machine Learning is very popular at FAU. Also they are good at Robotics. If these are your areas of interest, joining the course would be recommended. These topics have lots of research and work opportunities within the university.
Likes (Indian Food): There are really good Indian restaurants available, and also Indian stores are there. The pricing is decent. A meal will cost you between 15 to 20 euros per person. I prefer cooking at home, like most of the students. All the groceries that you need are available at the supermarket or Indian stores.
Dislikes (Internships): It is really competitive and not so many internships are available as there are many students. There are a few big companies in the area, but they prefer students with work experience. Also German Language is highly desired by recruiters. Not much guidance is available. They are relevant to the course.

University is known for its best research across Germany.
Tips: The cultural shift is very important in Germany. You have to accept what they are doing and follow the rules and regulations properly. I haven't applied for any scholarship yet as I am managing my expenses through my part time job and I am satisfied with the university's work ethic and supportiveness.
Likes (Student Life): I spend my day in lectures or the library at the university. Many seminars, which are important for post study jobs and innovation, are organised in the university but I prefer online seminars only which are available in English. I am not currently involved in any community or student club but if one wants then there are clubs available for it.
Dislikes (Part time work): Currently, part-time jobs are hard to get as there is are many of competition for them but after getting one, you can get around 12.80 euros - 14.53 euros per hour as per the job field. Jobs are easily manageable as you have to set availability 1 week ago and if you have lectures, you can set availability for the evening or else you can leave that spot for others who are free at that time.

FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg is generally well-regarded.
Tips: Before joining FAU Erlangen, students should priorities applying for necessary visas or residence permits, securing accommodation in or around Erlangen and understanding the cost of living and financing their studies. They should also familiarise themselves with the semester date and be prepared for the language requirements of their chosen degree programme as German is the primary teaching language at FAU. International students need to apply for the appropriate visa or residence permit for Germany and ensure they understand the regulations for their home country. Find accommodation in Erlangen or the surrounding area. FAU offers a service to help find housing, and students can also look for private rentals. Research the cost of living in Erlangen and explore ways to finance their studies, including scholarships and student loan. Be aware that German is the primary teaching language at FAU, and some degree programs may have specific English language requirements. Familiarise yourself with the semester date at FAU, as they determined when classes start and end. Attend introductory events and pre-semester courses for your degree programme, and familiarise yourself with the support services offered by FAU. Understand the enrollment process, including re-registration for each semester and registration for examinations. Utilise the Student Advice Centre for guidance and support throughout your studies.
Likes (Post study jobs): At the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU), job roles range from research and teaching positions to IT, administration and facility management. Salary packages vary significantly based on the position and experience, with some roles offering annual salaries in the range of 46,000 to 1,10,000 others like Associate Professors, may earn up to 1,53,092 per year.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Nowadays cafes and restaurants are everywhere, and a lot of people like to eat there. But other people prefer to stay at home and cook for themselves, and I am one of them. I am sure cooking at home is much better than eating out. Firstly it is safe. If we eat in a restaurant or a cafe, we do not know exactly how the meal has been cooked. We cannot see the cooking process and what products the meal was made of. Secondly eating at home is cheaper. All we need is to buy ingredients for the dish. Moreover, the cooking process is really interesting and exciting. On the other hand, some people claim that eating out is more suitable for busy people who do not have enough time to cook at home. It makes sense, but usually cooking a meal does not take much time. Many dishes can be made in half an hour. Furthermore, I think that if a person wants to eat healthy food, he or she must be ready to spend some time cooking at home. Health is much more important than career or business.

The faculty are welcoming and our university has many research-oriented jobs.
Tips: From 2024 onwards, the recession significantly decreased part-time and full-time opportunities, especially in the Automotive domain. Universities have many research-oriented jobs, which are called HIWI, and Erlangen has Schaeffler, Siemens, Adidas, and PUMA companies. The average salary is 12-13 euros per hour which is the minimum wage for internships, for working student jobs it is somewhere between 17-21 euros per hour depending on the company. I did not avail of any scholarships and with an educational loan, I did my blocked account and was able to pay it back in 2 years with my part-time job. Since ours was the first batch I would say I am not completely satisfied with the course however it's improved now. Everyone will experience a different environment and cultural difference.
Likes (Public transportation): With the Deutschland ticket, which is 58 euros per month, with a student discount, I pay 29 euros per month, and it covers almost all kinds of transportation except the ICE, NightJets, and other High-speed trains across Germany. The bus connections across Erlangen and to the university are very good.

Friedrich Alexander University is a wonderful place to study, engage in college activities.
Tips: Before my master's education, I worked at Reliance Industries Limited as an Electrical Reliability Engineer, which provided me with valuable insights into the nuances of Electrical Engineering. Availability of scholarships was difficult since I didn't know about the opportunities. At present, I feel content with my university choice.
Likes (Value for money): Friedrich Alexander University, Erlangen is a public University where the semester contribution is nominal, as per the German Education System. The quality of study is excellent and hence the semester contribution is justified. The reason for selecting 5 for value for money is the ratio of educational quality to semester contribution is very high.
Dislikes (Part time work): It has been three months since I joined the university. The current focus area is on studying the concepts and securing excellent grades by grabbing the learning opportunities. The quality of study is excellent at Friedrich Alexander University, Erlangen.

Great research opportunities
Tips: Visa process and course content for which they are applying and the desired course should cover prerequisites of the course. Always check course requirements. Apply to the university as soon as possible if you want admission. Immediately start looking for accommodation once accepted.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): Easy PR process. Minimum 2 years of tax contribution required. After completion of study 18 month work visa can be provided. The salary for post graduate student after completion of course is high. Lower unemployment rate and wide opportunity for professional career.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Not enough Indian origin food options in city. There are 2-3 Indian restaurants which provide all types of Indian food but the price is high. Instead of eating outside, I prefer cooking by myself. Egg is almost in every grocery we buy. So less options for vegans and vegetarians.

Tips: That University has very knowledgeable and affiliated professors and the standard of master's studies is quite high when we compare it with India. Students might feel that they have to bridge a huge gap between their Bachelor's and Master's. The university is really good.
Likes (Indian Food): There are a lot of options around the university and in the university's Mensa menu. Several Indian restaurants are in the vicinity of every campus of the university.
