M.S Transportation - Batch of 2026

The Indian Community at NJIT is amazing and very diverse.
Tips: I believe there's not much that students must know before coming here. The college handles everything really well, and you get accustomed to the university really quickly. You will only have to worry about your academics, and apart from that, it's just a hill time at NJIT. The faculty is helpful. You can reach out to them in case of any doubts or queries.
Likes (Safety): Safety is not much of a concern at NJIT. The campus is pretty safe for students, and people take care of each other very well. Although I didn't have many safety issues at NJIT, I've heard stories. Overall, I'd say there's not much to worry about if you're with the right people and take care of yourself.
Dislikes (Student Life): Student life at New Jersey Institute of Technology is quite decent. People are cool here, and they are very helpful. The Indian Community at NJIT is amazing and very diverse. There are a lot of events that one can attend, so you can learn new things and move forward.

The cost of living is high and part-time job pay system is messed up.
Tips: This is a very costly college and they are very strict about academics. You have to spend at least 50-60L for graduation here. Apart from that, it is a fine college. The neighbourhood is very costly, with high competition for part-time jobs. 80% of the time you can't speak English.
Likes (Indian Food): I like the pizza on campus. It is delicious and affordable. There's also some sushi, but that's about it for food options on campus. There are some nice restaurants in Jersey City, but most of them are Gujarati, so the food is bland or sweet. Good south Indian food is hard to come by.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The college doesn't have many on-campus recruitment opportunities. After graduation, you're on your own to find a job. Newark and New Jersey are places where you can find work, but there's a lot of competition for part-time jobs. The areas are expensive, and the college is expensive.

Extremely enthusiastic experience.
Tips: Personality was developed, new learnings were attained, and cultural development occurred here. Management is very helpful, and faculty members are always available to help and support you in the projects and assessments given by them without any partiality.
Likes (Indian Food): Playing games with my classmates and sometimes going for nightouts and playing football, doing extracurricular activities, making new recipes, and always asking my foreign friends to try some new indian cuisine. I was in the music club as a pianist.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Experience was great, and valuable learning was given by my faculty members. They always promoted and inculcated the josh type feeling among all the students and ensured that none of the students lag behind in their academics. They also promoted us in the play.

Overall this college is a good choice.
Tips: Before joining one should check how financially strong they are and also depends on one's area of interest and aim in their life. But on overall basis it is the best college. People nearby are mostly Indians and especially from Telugu states hence it will be good choice for women if they are having any safety concerns.

Research and good academic potential.
Tips: You will be expected to give your best as the academic standard here is very high, so if you're passionate about research and academia, this is a good option to consider for your post graduation mainly. Labs are well funded but the cost of tuition can be very high for some so come prepared as it will be a big investment. Accommodation shouldn't be a problem as there are numerous options not too far from campus and the administration is helpful when needed.

Good place; highly underrated.
Tips: The semester doesn't really wait for anyone and I was thrust into the middle of classes, assignments and research work from the beginning. This can also be because my programme is one of the most challenging ones and requires consistent research. The facilities are great and so is the reputation. My professors are very wise and the city is friendly and welcoming.

Great for academics and student life.
Tips: The campus is quite friendly and very academic as well. The course selection is diverse and you can truly learn a lot by simply exploring and attending lectures. Professors are passionate, which helps. I would say there are some areas that can be avoided after sunset as well. Tuition is expensive here.

A beautiful campus with rigorous research work and wonderful opportunities.
Tips: WashU is a great campus for studying, often regarded as the hidden Ivy or Harvard of the Midwest. But apart from this, it holds a strong position in engineering branches, especially in Biomedical sciences, due to its highly reputed M.Ed campus. This is a great college to pursue higher studies, if you can manage expenses well and get some good internships or part-time jobs, as it's a private university, so it is expensive like other private universities.
Likes (Student Life): WashU's student life offers a lot of opportunities, be it in terms of choice of interesting courses, projects and mentors to work with. Apart from rigorous academics, it has a variety of student clubs, some of which work on serious projects like WashU Racing and the Satellite club. It has a world class play field and recreation centre with a good gym and indoor playground.
Dislikes (Safety): The WashU campus is pretty safe. It has not only campus police but St Louis police patrol around the university. Near campus, there are a lot of emergency phone pillars to reach out for help. But, there are a few areas in St. Louis that are considered unsafe, especially near Delmar Station or beyond Delmar Loop, so it is always advised not to roam alone in dark hours.
