MS in Computer Science - Batch of 2024
4.1
Academics, campus life, and transition.
Tips: Before joining NAU, students should know about the weather, campus resources, and job opportunities. Transitioning here involved adapting to a new culture, academic system, and independent living. Nau also offers scholarships to students.
Likes (Student Life): I balance lectures, TA work, and self-study at NAU. I enjoy the learning environment and interacting with peers and professors. I participate in tech events like hackathons and career fairs and engage in AI, cybersecurity, and coding clubs to build skills.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Post-study job opportunities for NAU international students depend on visa sponsorship, which is often competitive. Some companies do provide sponsorship but require work authorization. NAU's Career Development Office and ISSS guide job search, employment authorization, and career planning.

Firm support, but career growth takes effort.
Tips:
NAU offers strong academics but adjusting to the weather the cost of living and internships can be challenging. The transition involved a cultural shift in learning style and interactions. NAU also offers merit-based aid.
Likes (Public transportation):
NAU is well-connected to Flagstaff through the Mountains Line Bus System, which is free for students and covers key areas. The Lumberjack Shuttle provides on-campus transportation. Public transit is affordable and reliable but has limited routes and hours especially late at night.
Dislikes (Internships): Students must search externally NAU provides resources like career services, job portals and Handshake. Guidance is available through resume workshops and advisors, but industry connections are limited. Internships relevant to computer Science exist, but securing them requires proactive networking beyond NAU.

4.4
A rewarding journey with new challenges and opportunities.
Tips: Before joining NAU, students should know about the cold weather, high housing costs, and the importance of securing financial aid early. The transition can be challenging due to cultural and academic difference, but joining student organizations and improving communication skills help. I availed of Federal workstudy (FWS) through FASA, which provides financial support based on work hours.
Likes (Value for money): NAU offers quality education, experienced faculty, and strong career support at a comparatively lower tuition fee than many other U.S universities. The tuition fee is justified as the course structure includes hands-on projects and access to search opportunities.
Dislikes (Part time work): While on-campus jobs are available through Federal work-study, they are competitive and limited. Off-campus jobs are mostly restricted for international students due to visa rules. Balancing work with academics is manageable.

Northern Arizona University offers good education, qualified faculty and good facilities.
Tips: Northern Arizona University offers a very good education from qualified faculty and has good facilities. International students can also expect $7,000 scholarships every semester. Plus, there is a good Indian community here to help you out if you're an Indian student. The faculty is very friendly and always willing to help students, even going so far as to hold office and tutoring hours every week to answer student questions. All the faculty here are very well qualified and do an amazing job at explaining complicated concepts so that everyone understands them.
Likes (Safety): NAU is best for student life because the campus is located in Flagstaff which is a beautiful place surrounded by snow-capped mountains with beautiful views. The campus is very big with lots of cultural events happening every week and there are also lots of sports events happening on campus.

The faculty is very supportive and always ready to assist students.
Tips: Northern Arizona University is a very good college for Indian students to study for a master's degree. The faculty is very supportive and always ready to assist students. Additionally, students receive a good scholarship, the location is superb both on and off campus, and it's close to a plethora of sights. There is generally a good amount of guidance available for finding and applying to internships through career services and faculty connections. Most of the internships are relevant to our study and offer practical experience and opportunities related to our field of study.
Likes (Student Life): In college, my day revolves around attending classes, studying, and engaging in extracurricular activities. On campus, various events are organized, such as workshops, cultural festivals, and sporting activities. There are a variety of student clubs and communities, ranging from sports teams and cultural groups to volunteering organizations.

Life at Northern Arizona University has been challenging yet rewarding.
Tips: Northern Arizona University is a good university for international students. The education is good, the tuition fee is reasonable, we can easily find part-time jobs, the faculty are friendly and supportive, and it is located in Flagstaff, which is an amazing place, which is surrounded by snow mountains, and it is very near to many visiting places.
Likes (Part time work): It is not so tough to find part-time jobs on campus, and there are a lot of part-time jobs. and students are fewer, so anyone can easily find a part-time job on campus. There are a variety of part-time jobs, such as Teaching Assistants, Research Assistants, Front Desk, and Sodexo, etc.
Dislikes (Internships): In the US, college plays no role in finding an internship. It is all about your skills. It is very hard to find an internship in college. You can use some online platforms to search for internships. For a CS major, it is hard to get internships compared to others.

A balanced academic and personal growth journey.
Tips: Transitioning to Northern Arizona University from another country can involve a cultural shift. I personally noticed a more informal and interactive classroom environment than back home. Professors encourage class participation, independent thinking, and collaborative projects. The faculty is approachable, the campus is beautiful, and there are many opportunities to get involved. My course content is relevant and hands-on, while there are challenges like homesickness and budgeting. Student life is very good. The experience was rewarding, and I would recommend NAU for students looking for a balanced academic and personal growth journey.

The university is good so take your time to explore.
Tips: My time here has been enriching both personally as well as academically as the university offers a lot of resources for its students, especially international students. The Indian Student Association is also particularly helpful and will help you feel a sense of familiarity as well. The faculty is very understanding, and helpful and has industry experience. There are lots of events, seminars and activities to participate in and build connections.

Better jobs and clean environment
Tips: I think students should learn to manage their time and schedule if they want to work part time as well as attend the college. The food situation is good on campus but they should always bring their own food just in case the food in college isn't available.
Likes (Part time work): There are a lot of jobs near the college which will help with a passive income. It's very easy to work part-time but on the other hand the college schedule is very tight so I have to manage the time accordingly. But, the jobs give a fare income which is very helpful.
Dislikes (Student Life): I gave it a low rating because sometimes there is just too much stress between your part time job and college work. Its hard to handle both of them at the same time, so I have to work my way according to time. The schedule is very tight and hard to manage at times.
