Focus on you goal and you find unlimited opportunities to learn
Tips: Germany is a cold country and when it comes to people. They are cold too. It's hard to make friends from this nation but as a student you will find and many group from our country. So student life will be joyful. Obviously one will face many culture shocks, food, punctuality, and planning everything.
Likes (Value for money): There is no tuition fee and the registration and student membership and transport fee is minimal. If one is interested to learn about different subjects you can take subjects from other course too, no body stop you from learning. Professors are helpful and you can do research and find student job under them.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The city is small and you find very less industries in and around the city. You have to move to other cities to find, internship, or full-time jobs. So it will be obvious that you settled in a different city. People often move to southern states or even West to find career opportunities. But, overall you will definitely find a job and find your chance to permanent settled here in Germany. Unless you don't stop trying. One who doesn't give up will find a good opportunity to settled here. Remember patience and perseverance is the key here.

Supportive campus environment.
Tips: It was a bit easier for me as my cousin was also staying in the same city as I was. So I was ahead in everything and was aware of what to do, when to do and how to do. I haven't availed of any scholarships. I am liking this country in many ways but I still prefer my homeland. If given a chance, I have to settle down somewhere else besides India; it surely will be Deutschland.

Compared to Indian Institutes, German Public Universities are far better.
Tips: There are a few scholarships that are available. We can apply for them and get financial aid. I am very much satisfied with my university, with a very good number of International students, sharing cultures, etc. If you have a chance to come, then you can definitely choose Germany.

Overall, it's a university with the best ROI in Germany.
Tips: Finishing a degree in 2 years is very rare. Everyone takes more than 2 years to finish the degree. It is not easy with a job and all. But I was good at tech so I found a full-time senior engineer job before finishing my course. The course is very good, there are some restrictions and guidelines pertaining to degree buckets. You might have to study some courses in order to just meet the degree requirements, even if you are not interested.
Likes (Student Life): Magdeburg is very affordable. In 300 Euros, you will find a room even in 2026, the cheapest among all the cities. The university organizes job fairs and other events. You can't ask for more for the price. IKUS is a community funded by the university which organizes various events. But there are no part time jobs available without German language.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): The faculty are great but their teaching style is very different from India. Don't expect the same. Faculty uses the slide theory method which bears very basic information, but the real learning happens from Ubung classes. The teaching faculty is pretty diverse but students are mostly Asian.

Research oriented, and supportive.
Tips: Knowing the German language is always helpful to survive and have a good social life. It's also easy to get a job based on language proficiency. Before starting this study course, it's also good to know programming and its basics. There is an option of scholarship; however, I did not take one.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transport connectivity is good for daily travel. Ticket prices are included in the semester contribution. Now the monthly pass to travel with regional transport all over Germany is also possible, the price of which is also included in the semester contribution.
Dislikes (Part time work): Part time options, in general are limited to language proficiency. If you are able to speak German then there are more options. As a student, 20 hours per week in part time is quite manageable. The studies are more demanding as it's a technical university.

OVGU always welcomes a big group of international students and takes care of the academic forum.
Tips: Students should know about document formalities, city registration and everything related to documentation. No racism exists. It is safe for day and night, people from not just India, but other countries too can roam safely with no hesitation. They can make friends and enjoy their time here after prioritising their studies and academic growth to get a job.
Dislikes (Internships): Students get proper guidance. There were different e-job fairs to attend and get exposure to our field. Also, there were consultancies to work with. But, the German language is really very important to study at all times, including at least B2 German.

Rediscover yourself! Study in Germany.
Tips: What might be interesting is that one needs to take care of the initial days until one gets their own accommodation. Often, there are situations when people don't get accommodation until the first weeks of arrival; this is something very normal for candidates studying in German universities.
Likes (Value for money): The study is free for students from abroad. So simply speaking, in the tuition fee, the public transportation is included. So one doesn't really pay anything for education. The only expense is accommodation and food. This is true basically for most of the German universities.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Less vegetarian options and the food is unfortunately very tasteless, so you need to prepare your own food. For Indian taste, it is a very problematic situation. So it is suggested that you have your own cooking skills and cook your own food. This makes life easier.

Tips: Cultural shock as East Germany is not as developed as West Germany. Scholarship opportunities are low as there is no mandatory need from the course pov. There is great exposure within the institutions. I am very satisfied. Obviously, culture and language are difficult but that’s manageable. Just needs a lot of dedication.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Best quality teachers since affiliation with the Max Planck and Fraunhofer institutes. Faculty is approachable and very research oriented. They hail from diverse countries and have a great opportunity to become good engineers, and also create job opportunities.

International student-oriented college that respects international students and embraces diversity.
Tips: Specifically for Digital Engineering, apart from 2 subjects, all other subjects are electives. So you can choose to take subjects according to your liking like take subjects like FPGAs, Embedded Systems, if you are into the embedded side or take AI related subjects if you want to pursue your career in the AI field. Moreover some subjects might be offered in German only, but you can talk with the Professor and give the examination in English. Professors are mostly friendly. I don't know about any scholarships. I'm satisfied with my university course and Germany. In Magdeburg, very few people speak English. So it's best that you know German at least A2 to manage and then you can learn on the go. The university also offers German courses.
Likes (Safety): There is a student council that ensures Student safety after discrimination or any kind of safety concerns. You can easily reach out to them via email and there was a QR code as well during my time, which you can scan and give your grievances anonymously.
Dislikes (Student Life): There are some regional student clubs run privately with WhatsApp groups like the Kerala OVGU group. And there are also WhatsApp groups that were organised based on semesters like Winter Sem DE. So you get a lot of information from those groups and can get your queries answered. You don't normally have classes from 9 to 4 as in India; rather, you would have classes based on the subjects you take. It would be something like 4 hours on Monday, Tuesday free, Wednesday 2 hours, Thursday 6 hours, Friday free. Something like that, it all depends on the subjects you take. There are many events organized by the Student Association in OVGU and it's nice.

A World-Class Education in a Pocket-Friendly, High- Growth City
Tips: You definitely need a solid grip on your prerequisites before you get here, and honestly, don't even bother if your German isn't at least at a B1 level. The deadlines here are no joke, and you really have to stay on top of the paperwork and all those formal admin hoops they make you jump through. It’s not just about the grades, though—you’ve got to be ready to put yourself out there, make some friends, and stay motivated on your own, or you'll probably struggle to settle in.
Likes (Value for money): I’d say the tuition is worth it for the most part. You get access to some really solid labs and the coursework actually feels relevant to the industry, especially with all the focus on AI and automation. Plus, there are plenty of chances to get stuck into internships and research, which definitely helps when you're trying to build up your CV. That said, it really comes down to how much effort you actually put in—the resources are there, but they won’t do the work for you.
Dislikes (Internships): There are definitely internships in my field, but the competition is just insane because there are so many international students all going for the same few spots. You’ve got people from everywhere applying, which really pushes the bar high. The language thing is another massive hurdle, too—a lot of these roles basically require you to be fluent in the local language, which makes it a real struggle to get your foot in the door if you're not a native speaker.

A great personal experience studying in Magdeburg.
Tips: Transition was smooth. Received help from the senior and the Indian community here in Magdeburg which made the cultural shift easy. I did not avail any scholarships. However, there are opportunities for students to avail themselves through the university. This is awarded once or twice a year to students with exceptional academic and volunteering achievements. Very satisfied with the university, course and the country I am in right now.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transportation is free for students as it is included along with the Semester Fee. Students also receive the Deutschland ticket along with this for travel across Germany. Available modes are Trams, Buses, Flix Bus, and National Trains which run all across Germany.
Dislikes (Internships): Internships are not directly available from the University. Students must apply for them as per their profile. There are different agencies through which students can get an opportunity to work in companies in Magdeburg for an internship. The German language is a huge advantage for any internships and working student jobs.

Best public university for student life.
Tips: Be ready to accept changes. The college will provide you with new opportunities and chances but you'll have to put yourself out there and make yourself available. The more connections you have, the more opportunities you have for your desired future.
Likes (Public transportation): It's always on time and very spacious and comfortable. There's always a place to sit and the temperatures are also very manageable. You get special assistance in case you are disabled and the announcements and LED screens provide you with all the needed help.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Eating outside is an option but the costs are relatively cheap when compared to other German cities. Can cook food at home. You'll have to find Turkish markets that offer you groceries at cheaper rates. There are many Italian, Turkish, and German restaurants but eating outside every day is not feasible.

Tips: Very multicultural and inclusive. I did not avail a scholarship. The course is very theoretical but great even for students looking for a corporate job. The syllabus is well-formed and extremely useful. There is scope for a personal project and guidance throughout.
Likes (Public transportation): Trams and buses are all well connected. All trams and buses pass through the University. It is very affordable. The Deutschland ticket is included in the semester, so the students do not have to worry about the ticket cost.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Mostly Turkish, there are student bars, but people travel to Berlin. But you'd also find Italian and Asian restaurants. Since options are limited here, we cook at home. There are plenty of grocery stores, and prices seem low.

Dynamic and multicultural university.
Tips: Managing your things by yourself. Taking care of your health is your first priority, because getting a doctor's appointment is not easy and takes days. You cannot simply walk into any doctor's office to get the treatment. I didn’t get any scholarship. I was very satisfied with my university, moderately satisfied with my Integrated Automation department, very satisfied with my course, and moderately satisfied with the country.
Likes (Value for money): The tuition fees for my course were less than 100 per semester, which includes the city public transportation. Apart from that, there were no other fees. Depending on how many semesters you complete your course, the average is five semesters and the fees are around 500 which is totally fair.
Dislikes (Part time work): Part time jobs within the campus are very selective. You can work with the professor in your department for research related activities, but very limited such jobs exist. For off campus jobs like working in a pizza place, bread factory, in Hermes for truck loading/unloading, at Domino’s, or delivery jobs are available plenty, but since every student is looking for part time it’s not guaranteed that you will get one easily. But you have to keep trying and visiting job agencies every week. Part-time job is totally manageable as one can work two days weekly, 7-8 days monthly to manage their total monthly expenses. But working part time in the first semester is not recommended at all.

Good education and a safe environment, but challenging job opportunities for international students.
Tips: Before joining this college, students should know that the education system is quite self-driven. You need to manage your time, attend fewer classes and focus more on independent study. Basic German skills help a lot in daily life and job search. The transition was manageable but came with a cultural shift. Things are more structured and punctual here and social interactions can feel format al first, it takes time to adjust but you get used to it. Overall, I am moderate satisfied with my university, course and studying in Germany. The education quality is good and affordable but job opportunities after graduation are challenging for international students.
Likes (Safety): Honestly, I gave it a 5 because I've always felt super safe in Germany. Magdeburg is a pretty quiet city with a low crime rate, so you don't really have to worry about catching a tram or walking around late at night. Aside from the security on campus at Uni Magdeburg, the street lighting is decent and you can tell the police systems and emergency services actually work. Even the student dorms feel secure with their keycard access and everything. I’ve spent plenty of time out and about in the evenings and haven't had a single issue so far. Obviously, you still have to keep your wits about you in quiet spots at night, but that’s the same anywhere really.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): I rated 1 for post study jobs because the job market is quite difficult for international students in Germany, especially as an immigrant. Many roles require strong German language skills and there are fewer English-speaking opportunities. Due to the ongoing economic slowdown, things have become even tougher, with fewer opening and higher competition. Its not easy for an outside to penetrate into the German market and things are getting saturated and companies are getting shut down slow and steadily.

A transforming experience at Otto-von-Guericke-Universität.
Tips: At least basic language skills to get through daily interactions. The education system is very different, so being open and understanding the student rights early. Scholarships are available if one contribute to society and excel in their discipline.
Likes (Safety): Got to know about some incidents where a few students experienced racism out of the university campus. However, university conducts awareness drives and offers strong support in such circumstances. There are services at university where one can get counselling in studies as well as to improve mental health.
Dislikes (Internships): You have basically got to know what you are actually after and have the drive to match otherwise finding an internship is a total nightmare. Depending on your specialization, the pay and where the jobs actually are can be all over the map. You can't really afford to be picky with location and if a decent opening pops up somewhere else you have just got to go for it. Staying stuck in one city isn't going to do you any favors if you are serious about getting your foot in the door.

Good Engineering Education but Better Career Opportunities in Bigger Cities
Tips: Honestly, you get a lot for your money here, and the engineering programs are definitely solid, plus the international vibe on campus is great. Just a heads up though—don't expect to find amazing internships or high-paying roles right in the city. You’ve really got to be ready to look elsewhere and maybe even move cities for work. The transition is a bit of a shock at first, especially with how much they value being on time and having a direct way of talking, but you eventually find your feet. I didn't actually get any scholarships myself, but I know there are a few merit-based ones if you've got the grades. Overall, I’m really happy I came—the course quality and the life in Germany have been a massive win for me.
Likes (Safety): I went with a 5 for safety because Germany, and Magdeburg specifically, is just a really chill place to be a student. Aside from the campus security, the public transport is super reliable even if you're heading home late, and you just feel like the system actually works. Even the police are actually helpful and not intimidating. Like, a mate of mine lost his passport once and went to report it, and he actually got it back pretty fast—which just goes to show how organized things are here. I haven't had a single issue or felt unsafe since I moved here, so it’s been a really positive experience overall.
Dislikes (Internships): I gave internships a 2 mostly because the competition around Magdeburg is just ridiculous right now. Whether it’s a standard internship or a Werkstudent role, you’re basically fighting an uphill battle. There are jobs out there, sure, but if your German isn't great or you don't have super specific technical experience, you’re going to struggle to get a look-in. The uni has a career portal and some basic services, but honestly, it’s all pretty generic and not exactly hands-on. You’re pretty much on your own when it comes to the actual hunting and networking side of things. It’s tough getting shortlisted since every single opening gets flooded with applications, so it feels like a bit of a lottery sometimes.

Can complete your studies here, even on a budget.
Tips: A lot to learn as Germany follows strict rules even in everyday life. I did not receive any scholarship. Pretty satisfied with the course and the country. The difficulty of the subjects completely depends on the course taken. My course has pretty easy subjects but there are courses with difficult subjects.
Likes (Value for money): The city is located in a state that has one of the lowest rents in Germany. So you will save a lot on rent. Also transportation across the country will be free, as the ticket is included in the semester fee. Not technically free tho as the fee is added to the semester fee.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Not many good Indian restaurants in the city. There are many Arabic, Vietnamese and Turkish restaurants nearby which are cheap and where I occasionally eat. Other good restaurants are there as well but not as cheap. I normally prefer cooking myself but 2-3 times a month, I eat outside.

The paper is set in a way that only after understanding concept one can pass or get good grades. I am very satisfied with my decision to choose the country and also the course.
Likes (Internships): There is always a competition. I personally didn't approach any professors for it. But maybe if asked to professors may get guidance, not an issue. Should be well prepared in terms of what direction you need to go in order to choose an internship, and should be flexible to move to other cities.
Dislikes (Public transportation): There is not much transportation after 10 pm, and also on public holidays and weekends, there are no buses. With the student ID card, public transport is used for free. The university card will cover a radius of 100kms and it gives good coverage. Very useful.

A great learning environment with strong academics and smooth adaptation.
Tips: Students should know that the university offers strong academics, great research exposure and a very supportive environment, but they must be prepared for a highly independent study culture. After coming here, the biggest transition was adapting to the cultural differences. People value personal space, punctuality and direct communication. The shift is positive but takes some time. I did not avail any scholarships, as the education is already quite affordable and part-time work is enough to manage expenses. I am very satisfied with the university, my course and the country. The learning environment, professors and facilities make the experience worth it.
Likes (Value for money): The education system here offers excellent value for money because you hardly need to invest anything in tuition fees. The university charges very minimal or no tuition, and the semester contribution is also reasonable. As long as you do part-time work, you can handle your living expenses comfortably. Considering the quality of education and the facilities provided, the course feels completely worth it and financially justified.
Dislikes (Indian Food): The food quality here is good, but you don't get the authentic Indian taste even in restaurants that claim to be Indian. Most dishes are made slightly sweet or adjusted to the local palate, so it doesn't feel like real Indian food. There are many restaurants in the area - Italian, Turkish, German, Asian, kebab shops usually costing 13 - 15 per dish, but none match the spice profile or flavour we are used to. Because of this, I often prefer cooking at home rather than eating outside.

The university is good and friendly.
Tips: Your skill set as well as adapting to new exam conditions and the German Language as well as one must also be prepared for exams because it's like a competitive exam where you get 1.5 hours for 100 marks and the paper is always tricky so understanding the concept is ideal to pass them.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Because with faculty you can get job opportunities that are called Hiwi and you can get a technical expert with them so you can select your course and score good marks by attending their courses and then you can also secure a TA teaching Assistant role under the same professor.
Dislikes (Indian Food): You can get all types of restaurants but to getan Indian restaurant in Kaiserslautern it is a bit difficult. But other places have different cuisines like sushi and Mexican food but I prefer cooking at home because that is more cost effective for me and I can cook meals as I like as per my taste.

Friendly but make sure to focus on studies as it is not that easy.
Tips: There is not that much significant cultural shift, you will find people from your origin country but there will be cultural shift in specific places such as clubs and different things but mainly in university and shops, there are no specific differences.
Likes (Public transportation): The buses are good and they are on time. The majority of the time, there are direct buses from bus stop to the university stop and the pricing for that is very good and it is included in the sem contribution so it's literally zero for the price of public transportation.
Dislikes (Indian Food): The restaurants in the area are mostly non-vegetarian but the prices are reasonable for that kind of food. Since I am vegetarian there are some vegetarian restaurants which have good prices but the food is just okay. I usually ask for extra spice as it is a bit bland. I mostly prefer cooking my own meals.

An amazing multicultural university with quality studies and peaceful life.
Tips: I am very much satisfied with this university because of the city being very student friendly and also the university itself being very academically focused with big cities like Mannheim and Heidelberg very close by which is good for job hunting.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are no good Indian restaurants, hence it is much easier to cook food at home. Also eating outside is not efficient financially. There are a few indian restaurants but the food does not taste good with hefty pricing for eg. Matter paneer for 12 euros which is insane.

Technically driven competitive college.
Tips: Students should know that RPTU requires strong academic dedication, so maintaining good grades and staying consistent with coursework is important. The APS certificate is essential for many applications in India. So preparing this early helps. Life here also requires being independent.
Likes (Student Life): Student life at RPTU is very well balanced and enjoyable if you make it. There is a good mix of academics research opportunities and personal time which makes managing studies much easier. I enjoy spending my day in the labs and libraries or attending classes and there are many sports facilities and cultural activities and events that keep the campus lively. RPTU also hosts job fairs and career events welcome weeks tournaments and international meetups.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I prefer home cooked meals because most food available here doesn't fully match the Indian taste. There are a few restaurants that has international cuisine but authentic Indian flavours are little and often adapted to European preferences. This makes it harder to find meals that feel familiar so I cook at home. Also as a student we are on a tight budget.

Welcoming city and campus.
Tips: Take part in the IntClub trips and ESN activities/parties, take your time to explore around if you are a trek/hike person. You can explore places near city centre, and obviously, as a vegetarian, you will find options, so don't stress about food but it's always good if you know how to cook.
Likes (Student Life): They have everything in the college as well as the city, which offers such a welcoming energy, except for the cold winters. It gets dull but if you have good company of friends close to you, I think you can still manage to fight this gloomy weather.
Dislikes (Indian Food): From where I am living which is exactly near the uni, I have to take a 5-minute bus to the city center which is quite near to buy from Indian food stores. Sometimes it feels a little far when the weather is really cold but normally you can shop all at once, at least for a week.

The faculty is easily approachable and always there to help international students.
Tips: Just choose your specialization wisely. You will transit here over time. There are a few scholarships that are available for international students like DAAD Stipendium, Erasmus. I am very satisfied with the university and course, also the city is cheap.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): Here we have good work like balance. You can choose your exams in each semester; modules are flexible. You can easily get a part time job here, like I used to work in a restaurant, due to which I was able to save enough and live my life comfortably.
Dislikes (Public transportation): The faculty is easily approachable and always there to help international students. Along with your studies, you can do a part time or minijob in your respective department, which helps to cover your expenses. The faculty gives the opportunity to participate in conferences.

Great university, big campus and nice courses.
Tips: TU Kaiserslautern is a very good university, especially for computer courses. The University campus is awesome, big, and well-structured. The Mensa or canteen is also very nice. There are 2 scholarship options at the university, the Deutschland Stipendium and DAAD Stibet. You must be in the top 5 students in your course in the 1st semester to be considered for the scholarships.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The University is very popular in the region, and offers good exposure to several companies for full time job opportunities. As an engineer basic salary starts at around 40-50k Euros per annum. Work visas are generally not sponsored in Germany, they can easily be taken from work council.
