Master in Chemistry International Track - Erasmus Mundus - Batch of 2020

Experience of a lifetime.
Tips: If it's an international master's degree, language is not an issue. But it is always better to know the language if you wish to stay. The university, course, and the country are all quite good. Paris can be very expensive, so I would not recommend coming here if you cannot find a scholarship.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): It is easier to settle in France, and you can apply for citizenship if you have a higher education degree (master's degree) from France. I would prefer not to live here, as I am more inclined towards an English-speaking country. Again, language can be a turn-off.
Dislikes (Part time work): Since my course was fully funded, I never needed to work part-time. Time wouldn't really be a hurdle. However, knowing the language will increase your chances of finding one. The opportunities are plenty, but you need to stay motivated to keep applying as the applications get rejected a lot.

Where Science Meets the World: My Paris-Saclay Experience
Tips: I'm very satisfied with Paris-Saclay and my course, especially the strong research opportunities. The transition was initially challenging due to language and cultural differences, but I adapted quickly. I also received an IDEX scholarship of around €1,000/month. Students should plan accommodation and transport in advance.
Likes (Internships): Internships easily get a 5/5 because Paris-Saclay sits right in the middle of a massive scientific research hub. Doing a Master's here practically guarantees access to top-tier research labs—CNRS, CEA, and university facilities are literally on campus. Professors and course coordinators actively help connect you with projects, especially if you're in materials science, nanotechnology, or chemistry. Having a built-in 6-month thesis internship (stage) tied directly to your field makes finding a solid placement way smoother.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Indian food gets a low rating because finding vegetarian or vegan options around campus is a real hassle. The area around Orsay and Massy has a few international spots—Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and a couple Indian places—but plant-based menus are super limited. French food culture relies heavily on meat and dairy, so eating out as a vegetarian means paying high prices for basic salads or side dishes. I ended up cooking at home most days after buying spices from Paris or local Asian markets.

A great choice to study in Europe and the world
Tips: Student housing at CROUS is competitive, so it's important to figure it out early. I had an Erasmus Mundus scholarship, which covers the tuition fee and offers 1200 euros per month. I am very satisfied to be a part of Erasmus Mundus SERP+ at Paris-Saclay. It was a career-defining path.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): It is a very reputed university in Europe, and as a result, many big firms are willing to hire students and graduates. Work visas after graduation are quite common. Many students end up pursuing PhDs in institutes on the Saclay Plateau, which is the hub for quality research in the world.

Challenging and worth it
Tips: The master's degree at this top university is very demanding; be prepared for an immense academic load; it's not going to be easy. Yes, I had won the Erasmus Mundus scholarship, 1400€ per month. The process to apply for the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship Master's is through their website; the application is free of charge and is done completely online. I am 10/10 satisfied with the master's program.
Likes (Internships): Usually the masters culminate with a thesis, so the students are allowed to choose internship projects inside and outside the university. There are plenty of labs and projects open every year for master's students in the university, and as per the rule in France, the students get paid a minimum stipend of 600€ per month if the internship period is longer than 3 months.
Dislikes (Indian Food): The university has its own cafeteria (CROUS) where the students usually have their snacks or lunch, which is at an affordable price. However, the options are limited (Indian meals are not served); there will be vegan, vegetarian, and non-vegetarian meals available each day. I preferred to cook my food during my master's.
