It's a bit challenging to find part-time work in the first semester.
Tips: Come to the university 15 days before the semester starts and look for part-time work. Try to secure one, but if you can't, that's okay. After the semester begins focus on getting an internship. Reach out to seniors to learn how to apply for internships and connect with people on LinkedIn. It will be a bit stressful and overwhelming initially so try to manage your time. Concentrate on internships and jobs. It's very important to surround yourself with ambitious friends as word of mouth is key the more you talk about internships and jobs, the more you'll learn. So get involved mingle with people and attend university events especially during your first year. Distributed Systems is a good course but it's demanding. If you're truly interested go for it, otherwise, maybe not. However if you take the course learn it thoroughly and showcase your projects effectively the market for Distributed Systems is currently strong.
Likes (Value for money): This is the best and most affordable school in New York, but the room rent is high. If you have a part-time job, around 90% of your earnings might go towards rent. The tuition fee is approximately 35,000 dollars. Part-time jobs typically pay around 16 per hour; consider seeking Research Assistant positions, as they often offer higher pay.
Dislikes (Part time work): It's a bit challenging to find part-time work in the first semester, but if you keep searching, you might find something by the second semester. If not, that's okay; you'll likely find opportunities in your second year as seniors graduate. Having a part-time job can significantly reduce your financial burden.

Amazing with great career opportunities.
Tips: It's tough to get in as the acceptance rate is 42%, but once you do, you will be able to enjoy scholarship opportunities, a cooperative university, and competitive academics. You will also enjoy overall well-being and no stress, as well as a stress-free, accommodating campus. Job opportunities are high as there is a renowned hospital on campus, which provides hands-on experience. On experience for pupils in courses of healthcare/public. Health and also have a GSU curriculum other than the core curriculum, so this helps a lot when considering fees and expenditure.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): In the USA, immigration is really strict. There are a lot of rules about which visas qualify for permanent residency or citizenship. Because of this, it’s tough to get permanent immigration status on an F1 student visa. Working on campus is only allowed for 20 hours a week, so you should plan accordingly.

Public Research University.
Tips: I had the dream of coming to master in USA from a young age after seeing my relatives and others come here. After my undergrad, I did a job for 1 year as SDE and decided to go for Masters. I applied to many universities and the best I got was at Stony brook university MSCS so I decided to pursue my MS in this university. The acceptance rate is an average of around 48%. I have just done my 1st sem. Did 3 subjects and got good grades. There were medium to hard subjects but done with them somehow. Prepare hard for getting into the University as it is getting tough to get into. Consult students who are studying here. It is good for your future. I am satisfied with the university, course and country.
Likes (Indian Food): The Stony Book university is in the middle of New York and there are lot of Indian food here. From South to North every option is available. The restaurant owners are Indians also. The Indian population here won't let you miss Indian food. I prefer cooking myself because New York is so expensive and I still eat outside on weekends. So there is no problem with food options in our country. You'll see a lot of options for Indian food outside Stony Book University.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): This University is good and it's well recognised. Many MNC's visit for placements but due to the current scenario, it is tough to get a good table job after studies. Applying for 100's of internships but getting rejected for all, as situations are bad at present for current job situations. The package varies from degree and it's one of the best universities in New York, so there are a lot of options for Post-study jobs. It will take some time for everything to come back to normal.

Part-time jobs are less but tuition fee is also lesser on comparison.
Tips: Stony Brook University is one of the highly ranked university in the US and also the no.1 public university in the state of New York. It can be challenging at times with academics but put in the effort and it should be manageable and one should be able to adjust to the fast paced life as to not fall behind on academics and internships. When it comes to part time, the options are very low for the graduate student and getting one can be considered lucky, so this is not the college if you want to rely entirely on part-time. Tuition fee is low compared to other colleges but housing is expensive. Assistantships are also tough to get if you haven't been offered one on admission

Value for money university
Tips: Culturally very accepting, super easy on students, especially Indian origin has a good community to live on campus, and good diversity as well.
Relatively tougher, but students do get RA positions with tuition funded and a good stipend.
I am totally satisfied with the university and with the country.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): US is a tough place if you are concerned with permanent settlement, but the quality of education and industry exposure is top-tier. Very few other countries would provide this experience with such minds to collaborate and this is super important for personal growth.
Given a chance to permanently migrate here, I would not choose to.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Middle eastern and Indian food available are relatively good prices.
There are a few canteens, marketplaces and dining halls which provide diverse options and fairly standard prices. Some options are mac and cheese for 2.5$, salad bowls for 4$, full course bowls for 10$

Rigorous and smooth administration
Tips: Rigorous study environments, relaxed international community, good number of international students and professors. There we have healthy competitions and great exposure to different social events to build all round developments. Indian students are good in numbers here.
Likes (Safety): Very safe on campus community. Campus police departments is well-staffed and trained to ensure the safety of the student. The university has strict policies and procedures in place to prevent crime and respond to emergencies. Stony brook university also has a number of resources for students such as 24-hour emergency response team.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Not many options for economical Indian food nearby. There are only a few restaurants which can give Indian food. The lack of demand for that type of cuisine may be one reason for that. Along with that, there are separate bodies which provide only American food.

Cheap and affordable education.
Tips: The university is one of the cheapest in the US and you will be able to find a good network of people who stays with you on-campus. It is located in the Suffolk County on Long Island in New York state. The grocery stores are very far but you can get shuttles to go there.
Likes (Safety): The university is situated in Stony Brook, Long Island which is a very sparsely populated city in Long Island, New York. So the university is very much isolated from the rest of the cities. There is no concern about mugging and other crimes which usually happen in cities. So it is very safe.
Dislikes (Part time work): Part time work is difficult to get on-campus and we are not allowed to work off-campus during the semester. There is a lot of competition as everyone wants to get part-time job to lower their burden on tuition fees and get some funding for their living expenses.

Thoroughly research before committing.
Tips: Please make a decision after you've done research, spoken to seniors and most importantly, taken into consideration everything going on in terms of international student regulations. You'll be on your own for most of the real stuff such as work and opportunities and paying off student loans is no joke. But the exposure and growth you gain as well as the networking you can do can be helpful in the long run.

Tips: Everything here is deeply technical and detailed, and even if you don't get an opportunity to work in the USA, you can find something decent and take back a lot of exposure with you. But come prepared, and if you have a scholarship or some form of financial aid, it makes sense to come here. It's just not worth it if you are forced to make a big sacrifice.

The university provides great amenities that can be fully utilized by the students.
Tips: The living costs are crazy high, so you'll have to budget like a pro just to get by. You'll learn to be very self-reliant also, so to do well, accountability is a must. The classes here are very industry-relevant and practical.
Tips: The classes here are very industry-relevant and practical as well. Since San Jose is a tech hub itself, you will get the opportunity to network and be a part of some very passionate and well-versed individuals here, including your professors, as some of them have even worked in Silicon Valley. I have learnt a lot so far and had a good time overall.
Dislikes (Part time work): There are limited options available when it comes to working part-time, mainly because of the regulations in place. There are some on-campus opportunities, and you can try to look for a research position or a teaching assistantship. Other than these, there's not much available.

The university campus is vibrant and diverse.
Tips: My best decision was coming to study here. I have enjoyed every minute I spent at SJSU, and I would be remiss if I didn't mention the city as well. San Jose is a beautiful city, and I'm really glad I got to study here. I really recommend that anyone planning to study here do some travelling in the surrounding area. I should've applied for the scholarship. I think I'd have had a pretty good shot at getting one. But the scholarships probably didn't have much impact on what I was learning, so I don't think missing out on them affected my studies too much. All in all, San Jose State University is a good place to study.

Great university to study at and greater opportunity to grow professionally.
Tips: Be prepared for a dynamic journey at SJSU. Right from class schedules, to assignments, to exams, quizzes, and much more, it will be a wholesome experience in your academic journey. Not only studies, but there are a plethora of opportunities to build other skills with their rich opportunity for various clubs and sports. Above all, networking opportunities are excellent around the Bay Area.
Likes (Public transportation): There are well-connected bus and train services around the campus, and they cover a fair bit of the city around the campus. For students, it is free as well. In addition, for students, there is an option for Baywheels (electric as well as normal) cycles to go from place to place.
Dislikes (Part time work): Being a state public university with a relatively smaller campus size, the number of available on-campus job opportunities may be limited compared to larger institutions. However, there are still provisions for students to apply for positions such as Teaching Assistant (TA), RA, and various other departmental or administrative roles.

Truly a unique place to be in and learn.
Tips: Things came across as overwhelming at first, but once I was able to better my schedule, I was able to really adjust to living here. People are friendly, but they also appreciate their space, so you might have to get used to that. I also received a scholarship for 6,000 USD, which made things more affordable for me. The coursework can be hectic, and the environment is not exactly stress-free, but it does pay off, I feel. Professors and faculty have been helpful as well.
Likes (Safety): The environment both on and off campus is pretty safe, with very few incidents and crime reports. When you are near San Francisco, you need to be more wary about pickpockets and such, which can be avoided if you are careful with your belongings in public spaces.

Tips: You will need to balance your academics as well as your co-curriculum to the best of your ability while somehow managing living costs all from the first semester itself. Our faculty is very dedicated, and they are more than happy to hear us out.
Tips: I did not expect to enjoy my major and campus as much as I have so far. This university truly gives you a glimpse of Silicon Valley life, and the professors are more dedicated to our classes than we deserve. They are on the ball to assist in research and/or assistantships. On the downside, the cost of tuition and other expenses remains high, and even though scholarships have reduced, you can rely on professors for roles in research and assistantship.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Our faculty is very dedicated, and they are more than happy to hear you out. San Jose State University is quite expensive as compared to other colleges.
Tips: I have had a pretty decent experience at this school. However, I should also add that it's more expensive than many other schools where some of my friends attend. But this is mainly because of unavoidable factors such as lack of time and groceries, which have risen in cost. A meal plan can help save you time and increase convenience if you have a tight schedule like mine. The city is beautiful, and once you come here, you will have a hard time leaving. Since I am still studying here, I cannot say much about the job prospects, but so far, the situation does not look promising.

Good learning experience for shaping the career.
Tips: Students should come to college early, at least a month before starting college. Starting to apply for part-time jobs as early as possible helps to land part-time jobs easily. Reach out to professors for TA's and RA's both directly and over email, as it helps a lot in boosting your experience academically and helps a lot to build your profile. Attend a lot of networking events, talk to people, seek referrals, know about the tech, work on personal projects, attend conferences, join clubs, hackathons and build person branding form the beginning - all these helps a lot in shaping one's future and bring you lot of great opportunities and improves confidence. Internships, coding and job applications keep doing from the beginning.
Likes (Indian Food): I mostly cook at home and rarely eat out. Groceries from various countries are easily available, and the city offers a wide range of quality local and international cuisines. Although the cost of living and rent are slightly high, the college supports low-income and in-need students by providing food essentials such as vegetables, fruits, milk, and pulses through its pantry, which greatly helps students.
Dislikes (Safety): The college is located downtown, where there is a noticeable presence of unhoused individuals in and around the campus and even in the library. They sometimes cause trouble. As a result, walking around the campus for necessities can sometimes feel unsafe, especially during certain hours.

Absolutely great college with amazing infrastructure and diverse campus.
Tips: This college is well-reputed. The main thing is that, as you go for the feels option, they give us the option to pay fees monthly. This is convenient for those from middle-class families. I would not recommend making this your permanent home as you should always try new things. While the college is fine for staying in long-term, the campus is not that interesting. I'd also say this place is a good place to study and grow as a person. Campus security is good and it is really safe here. Everyone is friendly, so nothing to worry about. You can absolutely feel safe here. The teachers are caring, and all other staff are good, so security is great. I am satisfied with the college.
