The job market is not good at the moment.
Tips: It all takes time adjusting. Must look at the job market and types of jobs for the industry you are aiming for since sometimes the study might not be the best for getting a job. Need to be very vocal; otherwise, bureaucracy rules might affect you negatively, but overall amazing.

An enriching experience at the UoA.
Tips: There has been an assimilation with people of different cultures, and an introspective identity communion. The understanding of a bigger picture mentality when you interact with students from all lands and walks of life, one means that you learn more than ever. No scholarships availed.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Very approachable faculty with an extra effort to resolve difficulties. The teaching methodology was fool-proof, academic and meticulous focus on an analytical and research-based curriculum, leading to very investigative and intrinsic learning of concepts. Very diverse from all content.

Amazing course and great professors.
Tips: Coming from India where I felt the assignments were really easy and could be done in a day, it was a difficult transition because here it is difficult to complete the assignments in even a month. You need good background knowledge, and they aren't gonna spoon-feed or teach you everything from scratch. Before coming here I was told this master's study is going to be IIT level, and it is almost the same pressure. Europeans in general have far better coding skills than us, so it is a constant pressure to keep up with them too. I didn't get a scholarship but I have friends who did, they cover the entire tuition fee. The Netherlands also has a housing allowance, so the government gives back almost 30-40% of the rent each month to support internationally.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The teaching faculty here is really nice and helpful. They had a lot of knowledge about what they were teaching and very well-designed course structures. Mostly all the professors I had were European, but I did see a lot of Asian professors too. They curate the assignments really well so you get to learn a lot just from a single assignment.

Friendly people and great transportation facilities.
Tips: While there is indeed a cultural shift, people are friendly and will help you acclimate smoothly. Although I did not apply for a scholarship, they are available for students with a strong background. The government provides subsidies on certain expenses. I was quite satisfied with the course, the university and the country.
Likes (Student Life): The University assists in finding student accommodation which is generally safe and reliable. Public transport in the area is both excellent and secure making it easy to get around. Amsterdam being a popular tourist destination benefits from significant government efforts to ensure the safety of both residents and expats.
Dislikes (Part time work): Due to the short duration of the course and the requirements to complete a thesis within 3 months it is challenging to secure part-time roles like teaching assistantships. Managing a part-time job is possible, it largely depends on how well a student grasps the course material. Since the curriculum is less demanding students generally have enough time to balance both work and academics. The primary obstacle in finding part-time work is the language requirement since most jobs require proficiency in Dutch.

Embracing growth and balance in university life.
Tips: The course is challenging and requires a lot of self-discipline and time management. However, the faculty is great and very helpful, and there are lots of activities and events held on campus that you should take part in to understand the industry better. Make sure you're ready to put in the work and hours to really make the most of your course. But also make sure you maintain a work-life balance because Amsterdam is a great place to get to know yourself and develop as a person.

UvA is a very good research focused uni for AI with amazing profs and top notch course material.
Tips: Very good transition. Felt positive cultural shift. Your opinion is valued irrespective of your gender or race. UvA is very research-focused. With really hardworking students and professors. I love it here. Scholarship for UvA might be competitive and you require a good research profile for it.
Likes (Safety): Safety is not an issue at all. Amsterdam is generally an open welcoming city. And in university too you shall feel safe and accepted. Nobody treats you differently or in a racist manner. You are exposed to people from different backgrounds and cultures.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Qualcomm, Booking. Com, ABN Amro, ING. are some of the places we get recruitment. Job roles such as machine learning engineer, data scientist. Package - 3k to 7k euros per month. Thesis fair is a good way to get connected to the industry. Good socially focused startups are there too. You can apply to companies outside Netherlands too.

Great experience. Unique courses, fast paced, difficult but worthwhile.
Tips: There is always a cultural shift moving abroad but it was better here since it is such a diverse city and language barriers are minimal. Education level is higher and fast-paced than expected. Lots of learning and a great city to be living in according to me.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): You get an orientation year visa after completing your Masters to look for a job and once you do get one, you have the option of getting a PR within 5 years of living in the Netherlands. And 2-4 years post that, you can apply for citizenship in the country.
Dislikes (Part time work): Limited options on campus. There are multiple options off campus though, depending on your requirements/class timings etc. it is manageable to do it over the weekends. Tougher in the week but depends on the course. The average payout would be 12-14 euros an hour.

It is an amazing University, but Amsterdam is not so great to live in!
Tips: It is hard living alone in Amsterdam, more than the pressure from the University, the municipality and the cultural differences are vast. Like there are a lot of taxes that you would have to pay even though you are an international student. There are no on-campus houses, it is all off-campus but UvA helps you to get a house only for the first year. Earning from part time is a must, since living cost is extremely high.
Likes (Public transportation): The law school campus is in the middle of the city with both Tram and Metro connectivity. Still, bike (bicycle) is the preferred mode of transportation for all students. Public transport is a little costly, but still, there are options provided by the GVB (Public transport company) to reduce the cost, which works like a subscription plan.
Dislikes (Internships): The internship board of UvA doesn't provide with much options for non-dutch speakers, and the job market is very strict towards Dutch language proficiency despite the fact that there are many MNCs and English-speaking work environment. The internships for law are very less.

Studying at UvA - Challenging yet rewarding
Tips: The UvA administration can be a bit lax so it can get frustrating at times but in the end, getting into the university and studying in Amsterdam is worth it. The education is top-notch and challenging. The culture is quite different from Indian universities. One is tested every week in the form of assignments and every month through exams. It is common to spend hours in the library with classmates and preparing assignments but if time is managed properly, it is possible to have fun too. I have learnt a great deal about time management after coming here. The economics course is very practical and challenging. Each assignment was designed in a way that challenged the students to think out of the box and was really rewarding.
Likes (Safety): Netherlands is a very safe country, for girls as well. The crime rate is quite low compared to other European countries. The student housing is pretty safe. I bike back home at 2-3 a.m. at night confidently. People and the Police in this country are also very helpful.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): One has to wait for 5 years to get permanent residence and also give the Dutch language exam. Hence, it might not be ideal for some people. The chances of permanent settlement after completing five years and taking the exam are not difficult at all. I would consider it.

Academically fulfilling but hard to make friends.
Tips: It was an easy transition in terms of cultural shift since my university is very international, perhaps a bit too international since it’s actually harder to make any Dutch friends. I’m content with the university, I wish there were more university spirit and stuff like sports games, etc. and more opportunities to meet fellow classmates
Likes (Safety): Amsterdam is a very safe and liberal city; of course there can be bad experiences like any place. But mostly public transport is safe and ubers are available. Public transport runs till like 1 am and people are always biking. It's just safe.
Dislikes (Internships): There’s CV guidance and stuff, and there are student run career fairs, but for my course specifically there isn’t a lot of emphasis on career fairs and also if it is, then it’s mostly for the locals. And other than these things, the university will never directly help in finding internships. Plus internationals can’t work more than 16 hours per week besides in certain periods of time, which is very inconvenient since very less companies are willing to hire someone who can work that less.

BSc in Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics - Batch of 2025

Friendly and welcoming.
Tips: There are a bunch of cultural shocks and shifts you may experience, for me food was one of the biggest ones. I felt the impact of it over time, it is something you have to adjust to since ordering it and eating out are not very cheap of options. The university offers different scholarships; do your research in time to be able to apply for them in time. I enjoyed the campus atmosphere a lot when I moved here, as well as the city overall. The nightlife is very exciting.
Likes (Safety): The city of Amsterdam in general is quite safe. Certain areas during certain times are not as safe as they would usually be; this is something that you grow to learn by hearing about it from others and through living in the city itself. But as a woman I would say that the city has been very safe for me, given I have always been aware of my surroundings.
Dislikes (Internships): Study advisors, job boards and networking events every once in a while. But getting internships is something that you have to independently figure out. LinkedIn and other similar job portals are there to explore internships. The competition differs depending on the field you apply for, over all you need to do your own research.

The education is good, but not the quality of life.
Tips: I have become very responsible and massive respect grew towards all kinds of people who do all the odd jobs. Started to see my life in a different perspective which I wouldn’t have if I was in India. Going abroad will make you only a stronger person. I had an amazing experience in the United Kingdom. I have learnt so many lessons after coming here. The education is good, but not the quality of life. The cost of living is too expensive, and not everyone can afford it. Coming to the life experiences and lessons, it’s totally worth it.
Dislikes (Safety): People in Huddersfield are mostly like thugs. They are little racist apart from that, I would say everything else is manageable. It’s always better to not go out after a certain time anywhere. If you keep this in mind, I honestly don’t see any other problem.

Public transport is affordable, and you’ll find buses and trams all over Huddersfield.
Tips: I always had a very comfortable life back home. Living in the UK gave me a whole new experience. My perspective towards life changed. Respect towards people has grown. And I honestly feel everyone has to move out to different countries to explore themselves. You'll only become a better person if you do this. I faced quite a few issues with young gangs in a few parts of Huddersfield. I heard and saw a decent number of news headlines about it. It's a nice place to stay, but after a certain time in the evening, it's always better for girls, especially, to stay home and really engage in unknown group activities. Public transport is affordable, and you’ll find buses and trams all over Huddersfield. This means you can easily get around without worrying about the time it’ll take. Every route has regular buses, making public transport a huge plus.

A good learning but very fast paced experience.
Tips: Students should know that scholarships are available and can check on the university website. You need to join on time otherwise there might be a problem with your studies and catching up with the syllabus. Teaching and knowledge are good but the country is not that good and very bad weather most of the time. Indian Food is very limited and you have to cook daily so that you control your expenses.
Likes (Student Life): Nice atmosphere, a good library, helping teachers and clubs. I spend my days going to the lab and working on my final thesis. All functions are celebrated in university and different student unions do that part. I don't participate much as I have to go to classes almost every day and complete my assignments.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Not many companies hire freshmen, and also there is racism prevalent. Many different companies are available that offer sponsorship, but you should have experience. They offer mostly around 29000 to 50000 Pounds. You can check on the UK government website for sponsorship companies. New rules have come which require more salary to have sponsorship in the UK.

The college is very cooperative and excellent for business studies.
Tips: I have been more punctual as the assignments have to be submitted on accurate timing. If we are late we fail or have to redo the whole assignment in another topic so we have to prepare it again. I had availed scholarship worth £2,000 every year so I was able to save around £6,000 on my studies.
Likes (Internships): The student life is the best life to live over here. As we get all the facilities and it feels very safe because of excellent security and is highly clean in roadways and has easy transportation. It is easy to reach the campus from anywhere which helps a lot.
Dislikes (Value for money): Best faculty and they are very approachable and easy to handle. You can also get your things done very fast and in an easy manner. The staff is also very understanding and very polite. They try their best to make us understand the whole technical specification.

This is very good university but we have to study on our own and have to attend classes regular
Tips: Students coming here should focus on upgrading basic skills like communication and all. Practice to study on your own and develop research skills as they will definitely be helpful, especially for Masters students. Focus on a particular area in which you have an interest. Make an account on Indeed Application UK.
Likes (Safety): Safety is the most important key here. Everywhere fire sensors and alarms are installed to detect smoke and fire and student safety is of utmost importance. At traffic signals, rules are commonly followed by everyone. Additional NHS services are also good, you can make an appointment at any time.
Dislikes (Internships): In UK, companies are expecting UK experience for internships. Try to focus on acquiring a technical or field job. You can work a part time job, it is easy to find but you have to apply at more places even you can try on Indeed. Indeed is a good option for finding internships and jobs.

Tips: I am satisfied with the opportunities provided by my university and it could help in improving my skills and perspective towards life. University outlook is itself impressive when compared to my country and the quality of education and the chance to interact with people around the world.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transport is very good. It is accessible to everyone. There are many buses and trains. But it's hard to get up very early morning and sleep late at night. Sometimes cancellations are also observed. The cost is high compared to my country but the service is good.
Dislikes (Part time work): Nice experience being a student. Better living conditions and better education. Part-time job finding is the hardest part. The rest of the things are fine. Liberal, ample growth opportunities and best learning experience.
Tips: Be prepared for an experience of a lifetime and bring your A-game. Have to be consistent and focused on the lectures, dissertation, and practicals. Attendance is to be kept on priority and timely submissions would help. Also, cultural differences would be one thing that might bother initially but adaptability is the key.

Also, part-time jobs are easily available which helps to cope with costs. I really like the freedom and open opportunities provided in the UK.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Many corporates provide support and assistance for post-study jobs. Companies that offer are from dynamic sectors like pharma, IT, hospitality, and automobile.
