Excellent Academic and Research Experience
Tips: Moving to Bremen was a positive experience, and I adapted well to the multicultural academic environment. Overall, I was very satisfied with the University of Bremen, my Ph.D. studies in Software Engineering, and the opportunities Germany offered for academic and professional growth.

A Challenging and rewarding Experience in an International Environment
Tips: Students should know that before joining the education system is quite independent and needs a good self-discipline. Professors are there to guide, but students are expected to be independent, take care of their studies and be responsible for meeting deadlines. Also it is very useful to know some German for the daily life.
Likes (Value for money): The university offers an open, international, academically stimulating environment. My day is usually spent attending lectures and seminars, doing assignments or projects and studying in the library. What I like most is meeting students from different countries and having chances to work together with them.
Dislikes (Student Life): The professors and lecturers are very knowledgeable and helpful. They are, on the whole, open and friendly, and students can usually get in touch with them during office hours or by e-mail if they need academic advice. The teaching method is a mix of theory and practice.

Friendly university, good campus in Bremen
Tips: In the initial few days, it will seem very hard, with all the documentation. But you will breathe some fresh air and instantly like the feel over here. People are softer, there is less noise, and every place seems very clean (Other than Hauptbahnhof, of course). But the grey weather is something that I really hate. Although over time it will get better. Just enjoy the master's life, make some friends, study hard, and you will enjoy it here.
Likes (Value for money): Value for money because, in terms of fees, I only pay semester fees, which cover the transportation cost on public transport as well. Bremen's public transport is really good; trams are clean, and buses are on time and spacious. So, I don't mind paying around 400 euros per semester for this.
Dislikes (Part time work): Honestly, there are very few options regarding part-time work. Odd jobs are available, but the demand is increasing day by day, and it is even getting harder to get a part-time job alongside studies. I have contacted multiple professors at the university to ask if they need any student assistants, but they mostly said they don't have funds to hire me. Although I have a minijob, which pays me 603 euros per month at a 15.20 euros per hour rate.

Masters Program at Bremen: Worth It, With Some Adjustments
Tips: There is a real cultural shift: Germans are direct and formal, which took some adjusting to. The weather is grey and rainy most of the year, so prepare for that. Admin tasks like visa and registration are very slow, so start early. Overall, I am satisfied with the programme and the university.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transport here is genuinely one of the best things about living in Bremen. The tram and bus network (BSAG) connects campus to pretty much everywhere in the city; the buses/tram come frequently, so you are rarely waiting long. As a student, the semester ticket covers all public transport, so I don't pay anything extra to get around, which honestly makes a huge difference for the budget. It is clean, reliable, and easy to navigate even if you are new to the city. Whether it is going to the supermarket, city centre, or just exploring on weekends, I never feel like I need a car here.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Honestly, Indian food options here are pretty limited and expensive. There are a couple of Indian restaurants near the city center, but eating out regularly there costs around 12 to 18 EUR per meal, which adds up fast on a student budget. There is no proper Indian grocery store super close to campus either, so I usually take the tram into town to get spices and lentils from an Asian store, which is a bit of a hassle. Because of this, I end up cooking for myself almost every day rather than eating out, since it is way cheaper and I can actually make food that tastes like home. It would be great if there were more affordable Indian or South Asian options closer to the accommodation.

Cool college to study in
Tips: Uni Bremen is honestly a solid spot to study. The campus layout is super convenient, professors are actually approachable, and the overall student culture is very laid-back. The Mensa food gets the job done, but brace yourself for grey Northern German weather and rain most of the year. As long as you don't slack off on coursework early in the semester, living and studying here is a great experience.

An intensive but rewarding international law experience
Tips: Coming from Pakistan, the first few weeks felt a little unusual because Bremen is quieter and people generally keep to themselves, but things became comfortable once I made friends and understood the routine. The Translational Law program is only one year, so it moves quite quickly, and you need to keep up with the reading. I did not receive a scholarship and managed my expenses myself. Overall, I am happy with the course, especially the international classroom and different legal perspectives, though knowing some German definitely helps outside the university.
Likes (Public transportation): I rated public transportation a 5 because Bremen is easy to travel around using trams and buses. The university buildings, city centre, and Hauptbahnhof are well connected, so a car is not necessary. The semester ticket also makes regular travel free for students. Services can be less frequent late at night, but for classes, shopping, and everyday travel, the system is convenient and generally reliable.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I rated it 1 because proper Pakistani food is quite difficult to find in Bremen. There are some Indian, Turkish, and Middle Eastern restaurants, but the taste is different, and eating outside regularly becomes expensive, usually around 12 euros to 20 euros for a meal. I mostly prefer cooking at home because it is cheaper and I can prepare food the way I like. Hall meant that spices and other basic ingredients are available in Turkish and Asian grocery stores.

My college is very goooood
Tips: Moving to Germany and starting at the University of Bremen definitely comes with a sharp learning curve. You aren't just adjusting to a different lifestyle and culture in Northern Germany—you also have to adapt to an academic system that demands total self-reliance and independent time management.
That initial transition can feel overwhelming during your first semester, but it's 100% worth it. One huge advantage here is the internship setup. Because the campus is right next to the Technologiepark—and Bremen has massive industry ties in aerospace, logistics, and tech—finding relevant Werkstudent (working student) positions or research internships is very doable once you settle in. The university provides a solid platform, provided you're ready to embrace the culture shock and take charge of your own studies.

A great place to learn, grow and explore
Tips: Moving from India to Germany is a big transition, especially adapting to a new academic system and more independent lifestyle. Communication style between professors and students is more friendly and equal-colleagues-like than a superior-inferior dynamic, and routines are more chill and easy-paced than how courses are usually in India. Over time I became more comfortable and particularly like the work-life balance here. - I did not avail of any scholarship. However, DAAD and other such sites do provide good scholarships especially for international students (NOTE: they can be quite competitive so it is important to research and apply early) -Overall. I am quite satisfied with my experience here. I particularly appreciate the research-oriented environment and the opportunities to gain practical experience. Also, Germany has given me a good balance of academia along with independence and building a good career & life.
Likes (Public transportation): For a city that is not as metropolitan as Hamburg, the city connection is pretty good, with trams and buses working through the night as well until 1:30 a.m. The next connection starts from 3:30 a.m. on weekdays and weekends. The city is well connected through trams, buses, and regional trains, and there are also e-bikes and e-scooters available for shorter distances. - Public transport is free if you have the university semester ticket or the Deutschland Ticket (50 euros) and is affordable and very convenient.
Dislikes (Internships): Guidance for finding scholarships depends on mentors. It is not always necessary that every department faculty member be enthusiastic about mentoring regarding this matter. In most cases, searching for internships falls on one's own shoulders. However, networking through online sites like LinkedIn and amongst colleagues always helps. - Available internships need to be researched throughout Germany, as just within the city of Bremen is not enough. However, I did find relevant internships here and across Germany.

Worth it. Not easy. I like it, you might not if you're aren't rigorous and intense yourself
Tips: Freedom of choice (a bit too much). Offices and bureaucratic processes were delayed and understaffed. Scholarships available but very rare. Depend on social or local political contributions, which require a high German-speaking level. I am satisfied, but not everyone's cup of tea. Don't risk it just for the sake of it.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Approachable during lectures. Very busy otherwise. Great structure in teaching. Use examples from your own field of work. Sometimes boring and repetitive within different modules. Everyone has a different style. It is not easy to score high grades. All faculty are Germans or, at the maximum, Italians.
Dislikes (Internships): You have to get the internships yourself; nobody is going to guide you to them. Also, it is technically illegal to work full-time while being a student. No provisions for internships within the course. Can only do so for the thesis. Moreover, there is a lot of competition for few positions; it's a good idea to have German-speaking skills to be able to work with technicians or support staff.

Freedom, flexibility, figure out on your own
Tips: Expect taking longer to finish the degree than expected. University offers a lot of freedom and flexibility. There would be a lot of international students in your class; Germans usually take courses provided in the German language. Overall being proactive and organized will make things work your way.
Likes (Public transportation): Very well connected to anywhere in the city even on weekends and also to the other nearby cities with regional trains. Also, night connections to your home anywhere in the city. Not just one but multiple connections to the university from your place of residence.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Not many Indian stores. Even if there are, they are small and mostly international and not specifically Indian stores. Although you might find most of the stuff you need, it's not as good as the Indian stores in other cities. Not many cheap varieties of restaurants either.

Welcoming university and friendly city Bremen
Tips: The cultural shifts were expected, as I knew before coming, but still adapting to those was a little hard initially, but as time passed, everyone adapted to them. Germans are very direct in conversations and very punctual. On Sundays, supermarkets are closed, and probably it was the biggest shift that I had to learn. Usually in India, on Sundays, people go out to buy things. I did not have any scholarships, and I didn't apply for one as well. But, anyway, I am very satisfied with the university; students are friendly, and everyone minds their own business without judging others. Although studies are expected to be totally self-sufficient. But adapting to these becomes easy within a few months. 100% recommended.
Likes (Public transportation): The public transport in Bremen is far better compared to other similar cities in Bremen. The tram/bus is frequent and well connected to every location. Even during nighttime, the N-buses are available throughout the city. Thanks to the semester ticket, we don't have to pay separately for tickets, so it's easy on the pockets. But the semester fees have increased too much in the last 2 semesters.
Dislikes (Safety): I had some bad experiences in Bremen regarding safety; I lost my phones, and even after knowing the location of the phones, the police failed to recover them. Although it is not the university's fault and it's not like everyone had the same experience, it is what I felt. Apart from campus security, there is a student union called Asta, which helps in several issues.

A welcoming university with good student life
Tips: Coming from West Bengal, the biggest adjustment for me was getting used to the quieter lifestyle, colder weather, and doing everything independently. It took some time to feel comfortable, but meeting other international students and joining university activities helped. I did not receive a scholarship, so I would suggest planning finance carefully and checking scholarship options early. Overall, I am satisfied with the university and course, although learning some German makes everyday life and social interactions much easier.
Likes (Public transportation): I gave transport top marks because getting to campus and moving around Bremen on the BSAG network is super easy. Tram 6 drops you directly at the uni, and as a female student, I feel completely safe riding trams and buses alone—whether I'm heading to classes, grabbing groceries, or meeting friends in the Viertel. The student semester ticket covers everything, so you don't have to worry about individual fares. Late-night N-buses run a bit less often, but daytime service is super reliable.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are a few Indian restaurants in Bremen, but proper Bengal food is quite difficult to find. Eating at Indian restaurants regularly can also be expensive for a student, with a meal generally costing around 12 EUR to 20 EUR. I usually prefer cooking at home because it is cheaper and allows me to prepare familiar Bengal dishes according to my taste. Indian and Asian grocery stores make it possible to find most of the basic spices and ingredients.

Review for Universität Bremen.
Tips: Your experience at Uni Bremen depends heavily on your specific degree, but knowing German is a massive advantage—even for English-taught programs, having B1/B2 German makes daily life, administrative paperwork, and finding student jobs ten times easier.
The academic structure revolves around Bremen’s focus on research-based learning, meaning you won't be spoon-fed information. Professors expect you to drive your own research, manage assignment timelines independently, and dig into literature way beyond the lecture slides. If you're passive, you'll struggle, so taking the initiative from week one is essential.

A good university with an independent study environment
Tips: The biggest thing to know before coming to Uni Bremen is that nobody will hold your hand academically—you’re completely responsible for managing your own study schedule, assignment deadlines, and exam prep. The initial transition can be rough between getting used to the German language barrier, dreary Bremen weather, and dark winters, but you build a routine after a few months. I self-funded my degree without a scholarship, so budgeting carefully before landing in Germany is non-negotiable. Overall, I’m happy with my choice—you just have to take initiative and actually put yourself out there.
Likes (Public transportation): The University of Bremen is very well connected to the rest of the city through trams and buses. Public transport is frequent, reliable and makes it easy to reach the campus. The semester ticket also makes traveling quite affordable for us. Overall, transportation is convenient for attending classes as well as exploring Bremen and nearby places, which is why I rated it 5.
Dislikes (Part time work): I gave part-time work a 2/5 because finding a decent student job in Bremen is really tough if you don't speak fluent German. Most mini-jobs or Werkstudent roles—even basic customer service or café work—require at least B1/B2 German, so English-only opportunities fill up instantly. While I still want to settle in Germany long-term after graduation for the quality of life, finding part-time work to cover monthly expenses right now takes months of endless applications."

Tips: Moving to Germany was a surprisingly smooth transition for me—I honestly didn't deal with much culture shock at all. I’m not on any scholarship currently, but there are plenty of options like the Deutschlandstipendium or DAAD grants if you apply early. Overall, studying at Uni Bremen has been a great experience. Good exposure and fun university.
Tips: Yes, there were cultural differences; acceptance and patience help. Change is good. No. For my course, 6.5/10, other specializations could be included in the course; the course is more learned towards robotics. They could include more computer vision and other domains of GenAI.
Likes (Safety): It feels safe; everyone minds their own business, and be mindful of your surroundings. I've had friends who have gotten robbed in the city, so always be aware of your surroundings; don't make an absent-minded mistake. No bad experiences in the city.
Dislikes (Part time work): It is difficult to find. Depending on the place, it varies from €13.90 to €16.00. A referral helps a lot here; use the bulletin board from the university. You need to reach out and be out of your comfort zone, mail professors, or go ask restaurants for open positions.

Liberal Open and Friendly
Tips: Moving to Bremen definitely comes with a bit of culture shock, but the key is putting yourself out there from week one. Germans value direct communication—people aren't being rude, that’s just how communication works here, so don't be afraid to ask questions or speak your mind clearly. If you stay isolated in your dorm room, settling in becomes ten times harder. Join student initiative groups on campus, attend orientation events, and make an effort to talk to classmates in lectures if you want a smooth, enjoyable transition.
Likes (Public transportation): It is top-notch and frequent, and availability is very good. Since you have access to the semester ticket, the trams and buses and the trains become easy. Since Bremen is well connected, you won't be facing connection issues, so yes, being on time matters, and the rest would be a cakewalk for you.
Dislikes (Internships): Guidance during internships is comparatively limited because interns are expected to work independent and take ownership of their tasks. There is very little scope of easy opportunities. Less spoon-feeding, so you need to be positive in understanding the requirements properly for it.

German University at it's best.
Tips: 1. Every class has a lecture class as well as a tutorial class, and tutorials are taken by Ph.D. students. Deadlines are important, and late submissions are not considered. 2. No, I do not have any scholarships. 3. Very satisfied with my university because the university organizes so many events to interact with everyone. The course is difficult, but seniors and tutors still help a lot. The country is very nice, peaceful, and relaxing.
Likes (Indian Food): I usually prefer cooking myself, and almost everything is available in German supermarkets and Indian stores. The restaurants have few Indian foods, but we learn a lot by cooking ourselves. Restaurants are both costly and affordable; we get rolls, pizza, burgers, and we're done.
Dislikes (Internships): Not much guidance is available for internships. Everything should be done on your own. Internships are there, but you need to search a lot. People need to search for the job opening on company and research institute websites or directly approach their professors.

Quality education with Great Student Life
Tips: If you're coming to Bremen for AI, the degree quality and research projects are great, but you need to prepare for life outside the classroom. Learn as much German as you can before landing—you can survive on campus with English, but basic German is a lifesaver for supermarket runs, admin paperwork, and finding student jobs. Also, start spamming WG-Gesucht for accommodation months in advance because the Bremen housing market gets crowded fast.
The academic system here requires total self-discipline. Professors won't babysit you, so balancing self-study for AI project work alongside cooking and cleaning takes real effort. Culturally, the strict punctuality and German respect for personal space felt a bit distant at first coming from India, but after a couple of months, you adapt. I didn't get any scholarships, but landing a HiWi job on campus covers my monthly living costs just fine. Between the strong AI research focus, reliable BSAG public transport, and high safety, it's definitely worth it.
Likes (Public transportation): Getting around Bremen is really easy; the university is well connected by trams and buses, and there is usually a connection every 5-10 minutes. As a student, it is also affordable because the semester ticket covers public transport. Compared to other cities, Bremen's tram/buses are clean and very convenient as well.
Dislikes (Internships): Guidance is mostly self-driven. There is no strong internship support system at the university, so most students end up relying on LinkedIn, personal networking, and emailing professors or companies. But Bremen has decent options through DFKI, Fraunhofer institutes, and local startups for AI/CS students.

Life at RWTH Aachen University
Tips: Students should be aware that they've to be independent as much as possible. There's no spoon feeding like India. Professors/ college do the basic/ primary work and mostly its the student who have to shape their path. They've to be very much responsible and accountable.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): Mostly attending classes, part times. I enjoy the free time and going to mensa. Since RWTH is once of the biggest technical Universities, there's always something on the late. There are clubs varying from technical to cultural. Events are organized almost everyday. But one should not forget why he or she is here for.
Dislikes (Public transportation): The faculty is great. Professors are approachable anytime. The methodology is very different that from India. And the cohort is diverse which helps for individuals holistic growth. I personally love the facility the university has. The student just has to recognize the opportunities and should know that patience is the key.

RWTH Aachen- Computer science
Tips: Please learn German for integration and also to get better job opportunities. It also gives you more opportunities to join student clubs and socialize with others. Finding Werkstudent jobs and full-time jobs requires German up to a certain level and gives you more options.
Likes (Value for money): The method of teaching is through a practical course- mostly assignments. Practical problem-solving is emphasized; there are some open-book exams, so learn the concepts well. All faculty are European. Main interaction is with the Ph.D. students and sometimes with professors after the lecture period.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Since it is a small student city, not many Indian restaurants are available. However, there are 3 Indian grocery stores where you can buy almost all the things we get in India, including exotic Indian vegetables, packaged items, and spices. Some Indian restaurants are there, but not very authentic. So get ready to become a chef.

Great experience. Learned a lot.
Tips: I was an exchange student as a DAAD scholar. The city and college are both very friendly to international students. I had a DAAD scholarship and used to get a monthly allowance of 992 euro also, tuition fee are wavered. Also, we used to get house rent allowance and other benefits. I had a great experience there.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty were very knowledgeable. And I learned a lot from them. They held seminars each week and were very helpful. The labs were great and had top research facilities. We also held monthly meetings to discuss what could be improved, and this approach helped us to learn a lot.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): I stayed on research internships for 6 months. For this short period of stay, there aren't many options afterwards. Post-study jobs are available generally for who stayed for a longer duration and have German language skills more than B2/C1. I don't have much knowledge about post-study jobs.

Competitive yet reasonable
Tips: Do not come if you are not ready to put in the hard work. None of the professors will go easy on you. You have to earn every single mark. You will obviously experience a cultural shift that you are not ready for. The weather also takes a toll in the beginning.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The professors are some of the reputed individuals in their respective fields. They are as accessible as you would expect a university professor to be, but the assistants are even more accessible. They are available to answer your doubts and advise in office hours.
Dislikes (Part time work): The ratio of the no. Of available jobs to the no. Of students trying for them is very skewed. Since it is a student city (RWTH alone has more than 40k students enrolled - at least in my first semester), the competition is very high. You get paid the minimum wage according to regulations.

M.Sc. Materials Engineering (International Profile) - Batch of 2026

4.0
The ideal platform to upskill, learn and grow, provided you know the rules.
Tips: - Personally, for me, the transition was not that difficult since I grew up in an international environment. I guess for indian students, the greater deal is, will I find a community I can interact with and share common interests with? The answer is always a resounding yes. - Generally, in Germany, scholarships are not that easy to secure since the tuition feels is quite low. - Before joining a TU9 university, it's important to note that it's going to be highly research- and academically oriented, so be prepared to put in the hard miles. - I am satisfied since I found the right channel to develop my skills, the right jobs, and academic positions to pursue my interests further.
Likes (Safety): The city is pretty safe, apart from a few junkies on the street. - Knowing German helps you assimilate better and learn local culture, and that directly helps with safety. - I never felt unsafe during the wee hours of the day since everything was accessible and secure. - I just never had any bad experiences, but that's only a personal thing.
Dislikes (Internships): - The university has a career center that is always open to international students
- Finding internships and jobs is more dependent on your profile
- Networking with industry experts at career fair, or through the university alums, does land some positions
- right now, Germany isn't doing the best in terms of jobs especially for fields like software, IT, or core-engineering/natural sciences fields like Chemistry mechanical engineering etc. Yet, there is a rapid rise in computational-based roles.

RWTH Aachen Computer Science
Tips: Please learn German before you come, it helps you integrate with other students. When you want to socialise or participate in student clubs, for many activities. If you want to find Werkstudent jobs, German would be essential for that as well. Later, for finding a full-time job, you open up many opportunities if you have a good level of German.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The method of teaching is through practical coursework- mostly assignments, practical problem-solving, open book exam for some courses where understanding concepts matters more than memorising. All faculty are Europeans. You would be mainly interacting directly with the Ph.d. professors are accessible just after lectures.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Since it is a small student city, not many Indian restaurants are available. However, there are 3 Indian grocery stores where you can buy almost all things we get in India, including exotic vegetables, packed items, and spices. Some Indian restaurants are there, but not very authentic. So get ready to become a chef.

Lesser known facts of RWTH Aachen
Tips: The cultural shift is definitely there but also understood that you need to study regularly in order to perform well at the University. There is no restriction that you have to finish your courses in a limited number of semesters (4 for master's or 8 for Bachelors). You can take more than the desired count to plan your studies according to your comfort and priorities. Scholarships are there and you can avail them before coming and if you perform well in the first semester then afterwards as well. It usually range from 700-1000 per month. The University is world class and is nearly 150 years old with a lot of amazing professors and intellectual. The opportunity to work while studying is definitely a big bonus and can you help you understand both the industries very well.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Faculty members are always approachable, and there are also multiple student assistants who can help resolve your problems. Most of the courses have both technical and practical lectures, however, the courses are more research-oriented rather than industry-oriented. The teaching faculty is also diverse, and you can find Professors from all around the world.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Germany has good job opportunities in the technical domain and data-related fields. Roles such as Data Scientist/Engineer/Analyst and AI Engineer are available. Packages depend on prior work experience, the state you will be working in, and the size of the company. Visa sponsorship is generally not a major problem for graduates.

RWTH Aachen: Top tier engineering, tough but rewarding
Tips: RWTH Aachen is an incredible place for anyone serious about engineering, but students should know that the academic pressure is real and the learning style is very independent. The university expects you to manage studies, handle German bureaucracy, and adapt to a fast, demanding pace. Knowing basic German makes daily life and admin work much easier, even if your programme is in English. The campus is spread across the city, so you'll walk a lot, and Aachen's cold, rainy winters can be tough at first. But it is all worth it.
Likes (Value for money): Indeed, in effect, you will get access to one of the finest engineering universities in Europe, the best labs, and world-class professors. The university collaborates with some of the finest companies like BMW, Ford, Continental, and others, thus creating chances for internships, theses, and jobs paying good salaries.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are barely any Indian food points available here, which is an issue but not a deal-breaker because you can always rely on either donor or pizzas to bail you out. You can always make food at home because of the availability of various Indian shops selling Indian masalas.

MSc SSE at RWTH, Spelled Out
Tips: I can say I had a fairly smooth transition. For me, it was a different experience to sit and learn among students from different nationalities. Also, it makes you more competitive and striving to be among an elite set of students who rival your intellect. The course is excellent, offering a variety of subjects from very experienced and knowledgeable faculty.
Likes (Safety): The safety, as such is pretty good. There has been an incident of women in the university a year back, but it is commendable that the university took quick and strict action against the offender. The city as such is decent, people are generally friendly, and you seldom find racism issues. Junkies do exist in some isolated areas, but they mind their own business and are rarely a problem for the general public.
Dislikes (Internships): The guidance is decent if you enquire about it. Unlike India it is not served on a platter for you. Internships are not mandatory for SSE although you could do one and it definitely boosts your CV. There are many companies in and around Aachen. Cologne and Du00fcsseldorf area, also fully remote options.

M.Sc. Software Systems Engineering at RWTH Aachen University review
Tips: The course is really theoretically heavy and less practical than you would want if your goal is to gain a job in the field. More oriented towards a PhD. Type education. There are career events where you can go and speak with multiple companies and try to land part-time or full-time opportunities. If your focus is getting a job, then you can choose this university, but make sure to look for student jobs early on to gain experience in your field.
Likes (Public transportation): The transportation is great because the university is spread out across the city and you can get there easily by bus. There are only buses available within Aachen city. Sadly, there are no trams, but you don't really need them in such a small city like Aachen. The semester fee also covers transportation costs for one semester, so it's a great value for money.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are a few restaurants that have Indian food, and they are decent, I would say, but I would prefer more restaurants and better quality. They also don't have a lot of Indian cuisines, so you can mostly get North Indian stuff easily, but you'll have to go to Ku00f6ln to get good South Indian food. I usually prefer to cook at home and eat out less.

Theoretical and time-intensive but reputed university
Tips: It's very theoretical, and 40% who start don't end up graduating because of that; the exams are quite difficult, and you have to study a lot for them. But tuition is very low, just 320 euros per semester, and it's a top German university, in the global top 100. If you have plans on working in Germany, note that a lot of positions, especially in German companies like Bosch and Siemens and the car companies like BMW, expect almost fluent German skills.
Likes (Public transportation): Good connection by bus and train except to the Informatikzentrum. The bus ticket is included in the tuition fee, so it is practical, and you can even go to the Netherlands and Belgium with it. So it is very nice for traveling in your free time to get your head off of work and studies.
Dislikes (Internships): You can go to the career fair and business talks, but otherwise there is not that much focused recruiting. It's definitely possible to do internships like at BMW, Mercedes, or Siemens, although you will usually have to relocate to southern Germany for that time. Otherwise, in smaller companies in Aachen.

An International Student’s guide in Germany
Tips: Overall, the transition was smooth. RWTH has the friendliest professors compared to what I heard from my friends at other universities in Germany. If a student is not able to connect with their classmates, they can start connecting with PhD students or professors and learn about the culture and take advice on anything and everything they face. I was very satisfied with my course and even applied for a Master's programme after my semester exchange and got accepted.
Likes (Part time work): There are plenty of part-time jobs available. You need to have patience and the right approach when approaching someone for work. Part-time work is manageable along with 6-7 master level courses per semester. Average payout: 12-13 Euros/hr for academic assistant jobs and more for jobs involving labour, like at grocery stores.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are many Indian restaurants in the city of Aachen, along with cuisines from many countries. I prefer to eat outside twice a week, and the rest of the time, I cook by myself. You can get cheap groceries at stores like Lidl, which helps you keep expenses in control.

RWTH Masters in Software Systems Engineering - Spelled Out
Tips: I'd say I've transitioned pretty well. In India I was constantly the top of my class, but here you'll find you are around students who are equally good or maybe above you. This helped me to learn better as I collaborated with them. I'm very satisfied with the university. The course, IMO is the best under Informatik in RWTH. It offers a lot of variety. Aachen is a good student friendly city.
Likes (Public transportation): Aachen's public transportation is pretty good. You can get even to the neighboring districts without much hassle, and the buses are fairly punctual. Train connections are good too, since Aachen is a terminus for most of the trains, they aren't very crowded when starting from Aachen. On top of that, the semesterticket from RWTH also adds areas of Netherlands and Belgium and you can also travel these areas for free with the semesterticket
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The 4 rating is not specific to the university, but to the job market. I would rate 4 for any university in Germany. RWTH is one of the most prestigious branding you can get, and still the job market is bad as of 2026. Still, some companies favor applicants from RWTH or TU9 unis in general. The company I work now only accepts applicants from TU9.

A perfect Academic course for Transportation Enthusiast
Tips: About the university, course and country its sport on if you are willing to learn German language. Even for the part time and after graduation German language skill is very important. I didn't get any scholarships or something. I have managed my finance by own. Also before joining the course please review the course first as I have seen lot of people who quite the course after 2-3 semester because the don't able to complete the exams.
Likes (Value for money): RWTH Aachen is an absolute steal when it comes to what you're actually getting for your money. Because it’s a public German university, there are zero actual tuition fees. You only have to pay a relatively small semester fee twice a year, and honestly, the perks completely cover that cost on their own. The biggest highlight is that this fee includes the country-wide Deutschlandsemesterticket. Having that means you can hop on any regional train, bus, or metro across the entire country for completely free. Just using it to travel around North Rhine-Westphalia or take weekend trips out of Aachen makes the semester contribution worth it.
Dislikes (Indian Food): As an Indian vegetarian, it is hard sometimes to find vegetarian food outside, so you should have to manage cooking with studying and a part-time job. I always prefer to cook at home rather than eating out, as it saves much more cost. But yes, you can also find Indian restaurants here in Germany. There are also Indian grocery stores where you can buy Indian groceries. Apart from that, German supermarkets also have the most common groceries like fruits, vegetables, and dairy products.

A wonderful experience at a word class university
Tips: A cultural shift will always be there but has become a bit easier as there are a large number of Indian students who come there every semester. Scholarships as such are directly limited. There are a few programs that give financial support based on academic performance. I did receive a one-time payment from such a program in the first semester. The university is one of the best in the world; of course, I would say it could have been structured a bit better; didn't feel like a specialization at the end. Germany is great all around if you speak the language.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Most of the faculty are experts in their field of study. They also have a large amount of teaching experience, which allows them to convey things quite easily, which makes it easier to understand for students as well. The course layout designed makes the lectures a lot more interactive.
Dislikes (Value for money): I had to rate value for money on the lower side because, honestly, the financial train of being here keeps creeping up with every new intake. If you're doing one of the specialized or international academy courses, the actual tuition fees are incredibly steep—especially when you realize you could get a practically identical degree for free at other public German universities. Even for the standard programs, between the rising semester contribution and the ballooning cost of rent in Aachen, it starts adding up fast. Half the time, it feels like you're just paying a massive premium just to have the RWTH Aachen brand name on your resume. The university rides incredibly hard on its reputation as this elite TU9 school, but the reality on the ground is just overcrowded lectures, completely brutal exam fail rates, and useless administrative support. Honesty, it makes you question why you're burning through so much cash and sanity for a piece of paper.

RWTH Aachen presents an amazing opportunity to learn all the essential skills.
Tips: The best part about RWTH Aachen is that tuition is basically nonexistent for almost every course. You just have to shell out around €300 each semester but that’s not actually tuition—it’s a student contribution fee and it covers your Semesterticket, which gives you free public transit across the entire state.
But here’s the catch you can't ignore: you need German, period. Even if your specific master's or bachelor's degree is taught entirely in English and you can get by on campus just fine, the bubble bursts the second you try to find work. Aachen is a massive tech and engineering hub, but local companies and startups expect you to actually communicate with their teams.
If you want to land a solid student job (HiWi) on campus, a part-time corporate gig or a full-time role after you graduate having a strong grasp of German is a total game-changer. Without it, you're competing for a tiny fraction of English-only roles, which makes the job hunt way more stressful than it needs to be.

Tips: RWTH Aachen has a massive lineup of courses across different faculties, but seriously, do your homework before locking anything in. The workload here is no joke, so you really want to make sure the specific curriculum matches what you actually want to study.
On the financial side, definitely look into funding early. I actually managed to score a student networking grant before I even enrolled, which helped a ton. Once you're officially registered, there are a bunch of other post-enrolment options you can apply for through the university portal—like the Deutschlandstipendium or specific faculty grants. Since there are no heavy tuition fees here, bagging one of those scholarships basically means your everyday living costs and semester fees are completely covered, letting you just focus on surviving the exams.

RWTH Aachen: Rigorous, International and Student-centric
Tips: You absolutely have to learn the language here. It just makes life so much easier when you're trying to get around the city, chat with strangers, or ask for directions, since almost everyone naturally speaks German. Also, make sure to check the official website for scholarships. Because I took the time to learn the language beforehand, my tuition fees were basically nothing compared to the actual cost of living here.
Likes (Public transportation): It offers a lively student environment with many opportunities to meet people, join activities and stay engaged outside class. The city itself is very student-friendly, with a large population of students; there were many various activities where I could get engaged like social work.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): The professors here are mostly pretty approachable, but honestly, how easy they are to reach really depends on the department and who you're dealing with. Some instructors are super helpful, but in other areas, the amount of support you get is completely hit-or-miss depending on the specific institute or chair. Honestly, that’s just how it goes at a massive university like this.

RWTH - MBA Digitalization and Industrial Change Review
Tips: MBA is provided by RWTH Business School. It is a paid course and if you need to extend your studies, you need to pay again. This course is recommended for working professionals who have at least 4-5 years of experience. The Full-Time MBA in Digitalization & Industrial Change at RWTH Business School is a 3-semester program designed to combine core management skills with a deep understanding of technological innovation and digital transformation. It costs roughly €30,000 to €40,000 and is tailored for technology enthusiasts.
Likes (Public transportation): We have good connectivity to the campus. The travel fees are included in the semester ticket. So you don't need to pay again. There are no teams in Aachen. But there are buses in every 15 minutes. Aachen's public transit features an extensive ASEAG bus network and regional rail from Aachen Hauptbahnhof. It also includes cross-border routes like bus line 350 to Maastricht. Track schedules seamlessly on the go with the DB Navigator or the movA app.
Dislikes (Part time work): This MBA course is a full-time, tightly packed course. Therefore, one will not get enough time to go for part-time jobs. The course is very tightly packed with mainly group activities and presentations. Even though the classes are not compulsory, since most of them are presentations and group work, you are expected to attend every session.
