RWTH Aachen Admissions 2026: Requirements, Application Deadlines & Fees

To get admission, international students will be required to meet the RWTH Aachen University requirements. These requirements vary based on course and the level of study but they are largely similar. The admission requirements for international students are given below -

Bachelor’s

• In order to take admission to bachelor’s courses, the applicants first need authorization to attend the university. This is also called as an university entrance qualification certificate or HZB. As a rule, this HZB can be acquired by successfully completing secondary education, or, in other words, by graduating from a secondary school
• The overall grade of HZB should be at least equivalent to the German grade of 2.5
• The level of secondary education varies from country to country, and it may be that the applicants’ school leaving certificate does not entitle them to attend a German university. In such a case, the applicants have two options: either to first study several semesters in their home country or attend a preparatory college in Germany
• Proof of German (C1 level) and English language skills (B2 level) – As applicable

Master’s

• To study a master’s level course at RWTH Aachen University, the applicants must have a bachelor’s degree or a first-degree
• Language requirement

RWTH Aachen University is one of the best universities to continue higher education in Germany. Indian students applying for UG programs must have university entrance qualification certificate or HZB.

Indian students can obtain HZB by successfully completing secondary education. The overall grade must be equivalent to the German grade of 2.5 at least. Other than a good GPA, students also require the English or German language proficiency, a good SOP and essay.

Yes, for the German taught programs at RWTH Aachen, international students are required to prove their German language proficiency. The exams that one can take are TestDAF TDN 4, C1 Telc/Goethe or DSH-2.

Yes, for many courses offered at RWTH Aachen, there are some separate application submission deadlines for missing documents. First, the chance to upload the missing documents is just after a few weeks which is generally the admission deadline of Jul 15 every year for the Winter Intake and Jan 15 for the Summer one. Primarily, RWTCH Aachen offers most of its coursess under UG and PG in its Winter Intake mostly. This opens in the month of October each year. Some key programs offered under this intake are in Engineering, Computer Science and Data Science.

Although there is one more intake available which is the Summer (starting in April each year). In this intake, mostly specialised Engineering modules are only available. 

Yes, RWTH Aachen may issue a conditional admission letter to Indian students. This happens in the cases mentioned below - 

• Submission  of the required coursework is missing for master's programs (some require Math and Science in previous studies)
• Missing documents like LORs, transcripts or a statement of purpose

These conditional offers may be valid for 1 to 1.5 years. Applicants should make sure that they fulfill these RWTH admission requirements.
