Master of Science (MSc) in Sociology in Social Research - Batch of 2021
3.6
University of Cologne is academically oriented.
Tips: Germans are very cold and serious. I didn't have any scholarship. Overall, I was pretty satisfied with my experience. Job market in Germany is good, but not for non German speakers. Professors and the university staff are usually very friendly and polite. It is better to learn German to better fit into the society.
Likes (Value for money): As it is super cheap compared to British or Irish or USA universities. German universities cost around 1k or 2k per year only. So it is great for value for money. However, not speaking Germany is hard for finding a job and living in Germany. Therefore up to you.
Dislikes (Part time work): Unfortunately I joined during covid so we could not experience part time work or seminars, or any online activities. We did not have the opportunity to experience ordinary student life due to the pandemic. But maybe now it should be better. Most of our classes were offline.

M.Sc in Space Engineering - Batch of 2025
Offered by University of Bremen
3.8
Student friendly, affordable and outstanding
Tips: The transition to a German university went fairly smoothy due to my interest in the subject. Prior education in mechanical engineering and a basic understanding of the German language. It would have been even better if I had stronger proficiency in German. Although the university and course don't provide scholarships, there's no tuition fee. However, there are opportunities to apply for scholarships from German govt. and private organizations. In summary, I'm content with both the course and my experience in the country. The only drawback is that it is not a TU (Technical University - which is more reputed).
Likes (Public transportation): The campus boasts excellent connectivity to the city through a frequent tram and bus service, with a tram to the city centre departing every 10 mins. The university provides students with semester tickets, which serve as a semester-long pass for all public transportation within the city. This is also valid for neighbouring cities such as Hamburg and Hannover.
Dislikes (Internships): Coursework does not include internships, making it challenging to secure such opportunities. Most companies typically offer internships to students who have mandatory internship requirements as part of their curriculum, making it more challenging to find voluntary internships.

Germany is a good option only if you know German very well.
Tips: The transition to studying at the University of Bremen is difficult, but knowing the German language is key. If you want to fit in, try to make friends with other international students and communicate with them in German. This will boost your confidence. I received no scholarships from the government. As a public university, the school is good, but you have to manage your own expenses. Germany is a good option only if you know German very well. If you want to spend 10 years in Germany, go for a Bachelor’s degree there. But if you want to come back to India, go for a Master’s degree at one of the top 5 universities in English. You can definitely get a job if you study hard. There are a lot of computer science jobs available in Bremen.
Likes (Internships): It's easy to get internships after graduation. You get the option quickly. But, they are sometimes part time and don't pay. However, they're good for experience and knowledge. There are also a lot of computer science jobs available in Bremen, Hamburg, or Berlin after you graduate.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are not a lot of Indian restaurants in the Bremen area, and what’s available doesn’t serve any authentic Indian food. I did see some Indian food options at city festivals, though. Berlin, on the other hand, has a lot of Indian restaurants. However, I prefer cooking my own meals. It is a more budget-friendly option. I typically eat boiled potatoes. And be warned, some of the food you get there, like burgers, contains beef. So, be careful if you are vegan.
