Great University for Data Science, Career Opportunities and International Student Life.
Tips: 1. Be ready to study independently. 2. Course enrollment and university administration have to be done with care. 3. English is enough for most academic stuff, but German is useful for life outside university. 4. It may be hard to find accommodation, so be ready to look for one in advance. 5. There are part-time and working-student jobs, but the competition may be high. 6. The university gives great academic experience in technical fields. 7. As far as I know, I did not get any scholarships myself, so students need to investigate scholarships at DAAD and elsewhere on their own. 8. In general, I am happy with the university, my course, and Germany as a place to study in.
Likes (Public transportation): The public transportation system in Mannheim is quite good and reliable. One can move from the university campus to different locations in the city without having a personal vehicle. During daytime, the tram arrives in an interval of 10 minutes, whereas at night, it comes at around 20 minutes. Students under 27 years old use the D-Ticket JugendBW that costs 45 euros per month. Students over 27 years old use the Deutschlandticket, which costs 63 euros per month.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): There is no definite number for the "visa-sponsoring companies" in Germany. Germany does not have the same sponsorship program as other countries like the USA or Britain. For fresh graduates, an estimated salary would be in the region of 43000 - 57000 Euros per year. This figure would depend on the position, company, city, experience, and technical expertise.

Mannheim became my home and priority for 3.5 years.
Tips: The quality of the education is premium and also strict at the same time. No student should underestimate that or take the education for granted. You have to put in efforts to own the degree. You have to attend every lecture and actually listen to the professors in the class because there are many courses where you would not be provided with any recordings.
Likes (Student Life): University life is too good. Networking options are excellent. The University provides you with all kinds of sports among which badminton was our favourite. It hosts networking events every Monday. The university organizes movie nights. The university itself is huge and also organises parties every Thursday.
Dislikes (Internships): They won't provide you with any internship. You have to put in real efforts to find one. Interviews over there are no joke. You can also go for working student opportunities as there are many. Also, you will get all sorts of help from the international office. Angela, head of the international department, saved my life while I was in Germany.

Tips: Always contact the international office; they offer excellent support. While I didn't receive a scholarship, there are many available. Check daad.de and inquire with the international office about potential scholarships. I am very satisfied with my university, course, and I absolutely love Germany.
Likes (Safety): The university prioritises student safety. There's always a contact person available to assist with any issues, providing personal support. The overall culture is very helpful, and safety concerns are minimal. The city is also relatively safe.
Dislikes (Internships): I have heard great things about internships. While I haven't really completed my Master's and so I cannot share my personal experience. But at the moment my werkstudent job also plays really good. In addition to that the course really prepares you for the jobs after completing the programme.

Tips: The University of Mannheim is known for its academic rigour, especially in business, economics, and social sciences. Students should be prepared for a fast-paced curriculum, active class participation, and high expectations. It's also helpful to familiarize yourself with the German academic system, which may be quite different from other countries in terms of grading, assessment, and course registration. Knowing some basic German even if your programme is in English, can make daily life much easier. The transition was smooth overall, but there were a few cultural shifts. Germans tend to be very punctual, direct, and structured, which I found refreshing but also took some time to get used to. The academic culture is more independent; you're expected to manage your time and learning without constant guidance. That said, the university and fellow students are very supportive, and there are plenty of integration events for international students. There are a few options for students to apply for scholarships like for e. g., DAAD or university-specific scholarship. The application process involved submitting academic transcripts, a motivation letter, and reference letters. The allowance varied, but it typically covers part of the living expenses, anywhere between 400 to 850 per month, depending on the scholarship type. Lastly, I'm very satisfied with all three. The University of Mannheim offers a high-quality education with experienced faculty and strong research opportunities. My course is both intellectually stimulating and practically relevant. As for Germany, it's a great place to study, safe, culturally rich, and student-friendly in terms of cost compared to many other European countries.

The best university in Germany for every field of study.
Tips: Students should be aware of the course, study area, and professors. They should also be very well known about the course criteria and the university's location. Students who are self-funding should research available scholarships.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): My college experience has been really enjoyable and fulfilling. A typical day involves attending lectures, working on projects with friends, and spending time in the library and common areas. I enjoyed the atmosphere the most.
Dislikes (Student Life): This university is very large. The professors are nice and helpful, and the students are very helpful and friendly. I spent nearly two years there and feel very secure and professional during my academics. I spend around three to four hours in the library.

I would recommend UoM for people who are really hard-working and love studying by themselves.
Tips: Transition was quick, and I experienced no cultural shift. I did not avail any scholarship and funded myself for one year. The course requires independent study, and the country is great for introverts. Overall, I am quite satsified with the university.
Likes (Public transportation): The campus is very well connected to the city, with trams and buses available for intercity travel. While not cheap, costing around €50 per month, the public transportation is totally convenient. The university and staff are great, but be prepared to do most of your studying independently. The city is good, but life moves at a slow and patient pace.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Since the market is tight, no companies are currently hiring. Considering the general salary package for data scientists is around €40,000-€60,000 to start, I haven't received any interview calls in the past six months, despite having great grades.

If you are thinking of coming to germany, UHH is a great option. Courses are tough but worth it.
Tips: Managing a part-time job and the very disorganised course and lecture timings. Ability to read and understand the course catalog and cross-check it with our availability and career preferences. The climate in northern germany, its rainy and moody on most days, regardless of the season.
Likes (Value for money): It's very cheap, 40k INR for one sem, which includes a Deutschlandticket for 6 months and a lot of discounts. The best transport system is available in the city itself, so commuting is very easy. The university has more than 22 cafeterias and messes scattered accross hamburg, so cheap food if you are a student.
Dislikes (Internships): It's a science university, so fewer tech companies are interested in it. The university doesn't require any mandatory internships, so internships are not a priority unless the student wants to do one. Most science-based internships are in universities, most of them don't pay but give you credits. So up to you.

Why UHH should be your choice (if you're capable enough)
Tips: It's a very open environment; there's enough help given to anyone who needs it. Opportunities are ample. The infrastructure is one of the best in Europe. Research quality is beyond excellent. Student jobs are abundant. There are scholarships available ranging from 300 a month to PhD levels. Overall a solid 4.7/5.
Likes (Post study jobs): Many national and multinational companies are here. Start-ups are abundant. A lot of English-speaking options. Generally there are more than a hundred good companies, including both established ones and startups. Salaries are ample as per central European standards. Despite being a major metropolitan city, Hamburg is still comparatively affordable.
Dislikes (Student Life): Opportunities, studying, student infrastructure, and events are great; the job fair could be better. Job fair, summer activities, experiments, demonstrations, and induction activities are organized. Tons of student opportunities to choose from. Plenty of cultural, sport, academic, and other clubs of all kinds.

Academically profound university.
Tips: I would say focus on studies every day for around 4 hours, practice as much as you can. Learn German when you have time but before that I will suggest getting students jobs or internships in their relevant fields and preparing for them as early as possible. Make as many professional and friendly networks as you can, they are going to help a lot in getting a job or for any advice.
