GISMA University History
The state of Lower Sacony started GISMA in 1999, as a private non-profit foundation in Potsdam. Volkswagen AG, Continental AG, and former Federal Chancellor Gerhard Schroder were among those who helped start the university. GISMA came into a partnership with the Krannert School of Management to deliver its MBA program at the GISMA campus. After a few years, the university began offering its own MBA degrees. The university saw financial difficulties between 2010 and 2013, and was saved from bankruptcy by the Global University Systems, which acquired the university.
In 2021, it received university status and was renamed from the GISMA Business School to its present-day name.
