Steady for growth here.
Tips: I have seen both ups and downs after coming here. The competition has increased and so have its challenges but the quality of education and research work here has also been up to the mark. Professors are involved and understanding so feel free to email them in case you require extra assistance or help. Peers are also motivating and helpful so group projects can teach you a lot.

Good classes and professors.
Tips: I have experienced both ups and downs here but my experience is mostly positive as classes are interesting and the university is well connected. Something that you should know is that it is a very Catholic university and although it is respectful, you should be comfortable with getting used to the idea of their faith being a central aspect here. Professors are helpful with lessons and job prospects are limited with all the new regulations, so make sure you do your research.

Good mentorship here.
Tips: This has been a very special journey for me with innumerable twists and turns already, so I don't really know what else is to be expected. Part time jobs are limited but once you get one, it is easy to maintain it and you won't close it unless you quit. People are friendly and coursework is quite intense as assignments can feel endless at times.

Unexpected experiences but good people.
Tips: Studying here has made me realise that the university is not a typical university and it can be quite intense in more ways than simply academics which of course is emphasised here. Campus is close knit and people are warm which makes it easier to adjust and find friends. I have been learning something new almost every day since I got here.

Life on campus is fun.
Tips: The culture shock isn't massive as there are plenty of Indians and international students and the campus is quite open and accessible as well. Scholarships are awarded for meritorious or need based criteria. Accommodation is also available close enough to campus and even if it's at a distance, transportation is relatively cheap.

Great learning lessons and experiences.
Tips: The academics here are good but the class sizes are big which can limit interaction at times and the competition can get real. Even for internships, it is very neck and neck and you'll have to network hard to land one. Part time jobs get filled in the first couple of weeks itself so you'll have to become creative. All in all, it is a learning experience.

Interesting academic experiences.
Tips: I had a comfortable experience after the initial anxiety of being in a new place faded away and people are happy to help as well. Everyone is fairly easygoing and classes usually include group projects and presentations quite regularly. Tips: The tradition was smooth as there were many like me as well as plenty of Indian students, so a sense of community could be felt. Tips: The cultural shocks here weren't immense but there were differences in aspects such as body language and terminology which you can get used to after a point. A decent university for a Master's degree, but students need to put in more effort to find jobs.
Tips: Know the college environment and how it functions beforehand by connecting with seniors. Make sure you know what you are getting into, the pros and cons. Getting scholarships in an Engineering college is a bit challenging. A very few selected students get it.
Likes (Public transportation): The connectivity is good. There are buses and trains connecting to major places. You get an online schedule of all the buses and trains, which helps in planning beforehand about your planning. The transportation is free for students or offered a discounted, affordable prices.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): In the current situation, getting 1 interview is very difficult solely based on your application. Referrals from a person in a position to recruit managers, leads are very much needed. Companies are not that enthusiastic about sponsorship. In the current situation lot of companies prefer students with Bachelor's degrees who would cost less to the company.

Learned a lot about myself and the university helped me to be the best version of myself.
Tips: I have experienced a lot of transformation in myself after coming here. I found the campus slightly overwhelming at first but by joining study groups and clubs, I have felt way more comfortable than I initially was. There are lots of clubs, events, seminars and activities that are held on campus, so I would recommend students to join those events and also build some connections which will help you in your career. Also the professors are generally quite understanding as well so don't hesitate to reach out to them.

The university helped contributing in my personality development.
Tips: The University of Texas offers a great environment for learning inside and outside of the classrooms. One thing that was really helpful for me was attending several workshops and seminars hosted by the career services centre. High competition for jobs due to competition and immigration.
Tips: Coming to the University of Texas at Dallas was overwhelming at first. It took me a while to settle down but once the classes began I started seeing more people from India, my home country so I felt comfortable. The university does provide scholarships based on GRE score and it is half the fees annually.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): The number of immigrants in Texas is huge compared to other states in the US. There are so many Indians who have come and settled in Texas which makes you feel like you're at home. Also, many of the companies are moving towards Texas as it is comparatively cheaper so the job opportunities are also increasing.
Dislikes (Internships): The job market in the US is currently bad and not many companies are hiring interns. Companies used to hire 10+ interns before but now are only hiring 1 intern. So the competition has also increased and since there are a lot of international students in the US, you are competing against millions for one internship.

Great University with great quality of faculty.
Tips: The experience has certainly taught me a lot. The cultural shift was immense. While there is a big Indian student community, you have people grouping up with other students from the same region, often creating a sense of micro-groups that speak specific languages. Local people are friendly, like talking to you and are inclined to help you too. There are all kinds of people on campus, and you will be able to find something interesting for you if you try and look for it. You need to work heavily on time management and plan everything according to your coursework. It is important to have a good social circle when you need assistance on coursework, but also try to make friends outside of this. All in all, it is a new experience, so try to do new things while ensuring you keep your academic performance at its best.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Faculty on campus, especially programme directors and some professors are really approachable and knowledgeable. You can set up appointments or walk-in to their office if they are available, and they are happy to help answer any questions you have.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): I would love to move to the United States permanently, however the current conditions make it very difficult for people to find a good job opportunity. Pay in the United States is also slowly reducing for entry level roles while competition is also increasing. These factors are making it less favorable for international students. Semester fees are also increasing with a consistent increase in living expenses.

Great University experience but limited jobs
Tips: It's a great college and a good opportunity to find peers and friends who are interested in the same things as you. The only thing is that they don't provide any support in finding jobs so you are on your own when it comes to finding roles. Choose your master's program wisely.
Likes (Public transportation): Great connectivity by DART. Robust network significantly helps students in transportation from a lot of pick-up points near campus however, Dallas in general doesn't have great public transportation. It is affordable and reliable for students and everyone.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): For Marketing, very limited jobs are available as most companies don't want to sponsor especially in this economy. It is very much luck dependent, even though having a STEM degree helps but mostly it's about choosing the right subjects and having the right experience.

A friendly university to study.
Tips: UT Dallas is a friendly university where students from all the geographies are welcomed. You can achieve academic excellence with the resources provided by the college. There is a nice gym in the college which can be used as a time pass and stress buster. UT Dallas is moderately expensive compared to the other universities. It is a good choice but the best advise will be to calculate the return on investment, and compare it to other colleges.
Likes (Public transportation): Starting from nearby places till the airport that is, 25 Kms, you can travel freely with the Go Pass. You will find a bus for every route that you want to travel to. The most common one is the 883, which is used for day to day commute to the University and nearby places. Others are 232 and 241 which can be used to other routes.
Dislikes (Part time work): Some places where the current students work as part-time workers are Dining, Student Union and Career Centre. Other positions where a student can work and earn dollars are Teaching Assistant and Research Assistant. There are opportunities but the competition is also huge. You need referrals even for low wage jobs.

A supportive career focused campus with great opportunities.
Tips: Utd offers scholarships like AES, dean's excellence and department awards, some cover partial tuition or give small stipends. Apply early, keep strong academics and keep checking funds each semester.
Likes (Public transportation): It's pretty much connected and it's free transportation. You have west and east bus routes. West - Pearl, EOF, and East - EOR, Marquis, and a bit more apartments for the bus route. There are bus stops and a metro near the university to the airport.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Lennox, CBRE, Mr Cooper, and ISN are some companies that offer jobs and there are a lot of small and large companies in the Dallas uptown and downtown, where they sponsor students for better jobs and better pay. Check out companies like Spectrum, T-Mobile, and Goldman Sachs, which sponsor students.

Just average college and average quality of faculty.
Tips: Know that MSU is a very mid tier college and the quality of education is also not good. There are no good post graduation opportunities either. Whatever you do, keep this stuff in mind. While I have a job, MSU did not help me through any of that process.
Likes (Student Life): Since MSU is a party school, student life is good. You can go to parties almost every single day and if you are not the party type of person, then do not come to MSU. I am not a party type of person but most people are not like me.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): Faculty is low quality but high ego. They do not know how to teach but only to gloat, at least most of them. There are always a few exceptions but most of them are absolute dogwater. Do not come here. If I could go back in time, I would go and not come to MSU.

Tips: I decided to take this program because of its employability focus. Plus, I also thought the course looked diverse. Sure enough, after I got here, the course was super diverse, and there was a pretty diverse group of students in the program, too. Team projects are a good way to earn extra credit, and if you're craving Indian, there's a restaurant right outside campus, so you're in luck.
