A perfect blend of academic excellence, global exposure, and personal growth.
Tips: Students should know that this college focuses strongly on both academic excellence and overall personal development. It is important to be proactive, manage your time well, and take advantage of the wide range of resources and networking opportunities provided. When I first joined, I did experience a cultural shift, especially adapting to a more independent and research-oriented study approach compared to my previous education. It took some time, but the support from faculty and peer groups made the transition smooth.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): The campus environment is vibrant, inclusive, and full of opportunities to grow personally and professionally. My typical day includes attending interactive classes, group discussions, working on lab projects, and spending time at student clubs. I particularly enjoy the collaborative culture and the events organised regularly, from tech fests and cultural programs to hackathons and speaker sessions. The campus hosts various student-run clubs related to coding, robotics, arts, entrepreneurship, and more, allowing everyone to pursue their interests and connect with like-minded peers.
Dislikes (Public transportation): The professors are not only highly qualified but also very accessible and supportive. They encourage open discussions, offer regular office hours, and are always willing to mentor students beyond the classroom. The teaching methodology involves a balanced mix of theory and hands-on learning, including case studies, live projects, and interactive seminars, which helps bridge the gap between academics and industry expectations. The faculty is diverse, with members from different nationalities and professional backgrounds, bringing global perspectives into the classroom.

This is the most affordable and best university in Denton.
Tips: This college has a lot of Indian students and faculty. If you want to experience the culture of Native Americans and interact with them, you might want to go to a different university. However, if you like Indian food, this is the place for you. There is a lot of competition for a few positions. To get an internship, you need to have the right skills and knowledge. Unlike India, this country seeks to employ people who have core skills in the particular subject they are dealing with.
Likes (Indian Food): There are more than 30 Indian restaurants in Denton, as well as many Indian grocery stores and food trucks. You can even find Pakistani and other Asian cuisines in some places. It's a great place to try a variety of Indian food.

On-campus opportunities are very good but limited.
Tips: There is not much of a cultural shift. People are very friendly and always ready to help. Figuring out things around the campus is less stressful compared to other universities. I did not receive any scholarships, but you can apply at the time of the application process and you can get some assistance. I'm very happy with the course and the city and country.
Likes (Indian Food): On-campus dining provides Indian food, which is great because you can pay $8 for unlimited food all day. There are many Indian restaurants around campus, so I eat outside very often. The cost of living in Denton is low compared to other college towns.
Dislikes (Part time work): On campus opportunities are very good but still not yet sufficient. Students struggle to find jobs because of the flow of incoming students. Part-time work is very manageable with academic work. The average payout for part-time work is around 500 per month.

Tips: I have learned a lot about adaptability and how to stand out and I would recommend the same to anyone on a similar path or the university. Involve yourself in community work and volunteership programs through the university. Keep an open mind, be an extrovert and grab whatever opportunities lay ahead.

Vibrant transition to this place.
Tips: Before coming to UNT, know it's a lively place with lots to do. Adjusting here means getting used to a new culture, which can be fun but tricky. I didn't get any scholarships, but UNT offers them based on different things. Overall, I'm happy here. The classes are interesting, and there's always something going on, but getting used to American life took some time.
Likes (Student Life): I rate a student life a 4 because it's lively and diverse. A typical day involves classes, hanging out with friends, and attending club meetings or campus events. I love the sense of community and the variety of activities available. Events range from concerts to academic conferences and I try to participate when I can. UNT has a wide range of student clubs catering to various interests, making it easy to get involved.
Dislikes (Part time work): Part-time work at UNT offers opportunities but can be a bit challenging to balance with academics. On-campus jobs are available, but off-campus options like retail or restaurants also exist. Managing both requires good time management skills and pay varies depending on the job.

University of North Texas provides great exposure to students.
Tips: The campus is diverse, with a wide range of professors and students. The student body is very active in extracurricular activities, and they plan and organize events every semester that can last for days. The academic environment is very competitive, so you will need to book your slots for office hours. Try to find accommodation as soon as you land. The people are very friendly and helpful. Overall, I am quite satisfied with my experiences.

Q:   How is University of North Texas for international students?
A:

UNT, as a world class teaching and research university, is as safe a major college campus as any. The campus is well lit, with numerous Emergency Kiosks never far away. The University of North Texas has convenient and safe bus service from all over campus to the parking lots and to the most popular apartment complexes around campus and around town; and between satellite campuses now. This service runs into the night for as late as classes meet, and a bit beyond. The campus has it’s own police force, specifically trained to deal with campus crime, and specially trained to interact with college students from every walk of life and from around the world. As with all public colleges and universities in the United States of America, UNT is obligated to publicly post its’ crime statistics online. A quick search should give you the objective information you seek.

Both the Campus Police Force and the Denton Police Department are among the most progressive, community oriented police forces I have ever encountered. While you are in Texas, the City of Denton, and Denton County, are generally open minded, kind and welcoming thanks to the presence of two major universities (TWU and UNT); both of which welcome large numbers of international students, as well as significant populations of minority students and LGBTQ students. Also you will find significant diversity within the faculty of both institutions.
