Master of Engineering- Biomedical - Batch of 2022

Very safe and friendly city.
Tips: Students should know that at some point, there will be a language barrier with lecturers. Money management is crucial. Communication and networking are a must for you to thrive here. I got a scholarship. The university doesn't offer much in terms of placement. I am satisfied with the university, course and country.
Likes (Student Life): It is amazing to be around like-minded people, as WSU is full of them. Also, you get to meet people from different countries and race that's also a good thing. WSU has a lot of clubs, and it is good to be part of clubs, as they provide you with free networking options, and you can be friends with people in many ways at many points.
Dislikes (Part time work): Part-time work is definitely available, but it's quite seasonal and competitive. During speak period like holidays and trimester ends, it is a lot easier to get into them, but there are also times when hours get reduced, and roles become limited. And yes, I think that's a major problem with the job market here.

Good college but expensive
Tips: Students must enrol themselves when e-mail arrives. We can select subjects of our choice. When there is enrollment we can visit University to look and understand everything. It is important to attend enrollment day so that we can understand all things like subjects, id etc.
Likes (Value for money): Free access to Wi-Fi, library, lifts and refreshments. Every week events are organised and they email in bout the events and mention the time and place. Events like noodles movie time are organised there is canteen from where we can enjoy free coffee.
Dislikes (Student Life): Very good staff. All learning material is available online on their site too. You must have a good laptop for assignments and online classes too because teachers have busy schedules so they put classes online. Students must install outlook app on their mobile so they can easily read any urgent email.

Balanced experience with strong opportunities for self growth.
Tips: Teaching is mostly PPT- based, so self learning and staying updated with industry trends are important. Assignments follow APA7 format, so basic knowledge of it helps. The transition was manageable, but adjusting to independent learning and balancing everything took time. I did not receive a merit-based scholarship as it was not there for us at our time for our University for few countries including India. I am satisfied, but success here depends largely on personal effort.
Likes (Indian Food): There are plenty of Indian restaurants near the university and across Perth, making it easy to find authentic food from home. There are many Indian, Asian and fast-food options nearby. Most meals range between 15-25, with some affordable takeaway choices for students. I prefer cooking at home as I'm health conscious and want to save money as a student. I only eat out occasionally for a change.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): The faculty is knowledgeable but most of the teaching is done directly from PPT slides. We often need to update ourselves with the latest technologies and industry trends to stay job-ready. There is room for more practical and interactive learning. The department mainly follows a PPT- based teaching approach along with presentations and group assignments. Most assignments must be submitted in APA7 format, which was very new and challenging for me at the beginning. Over time, it helped me improve my research and writing skills.

Waste of money and resources.
Tips: I would prefer not to go to this university if one is going for any business degree. I would prefer Curtin University and UWA more than ECU because I never felt like studying for a Masters degree. The grading structure is designed in such a way that students stress about passing rather than being creative and learning new things. The scholarships were not available for Indian students here but for some rural backward countries. I would suggest one to go to Australian colleges rather than universities because the fees in college are merely 40% of the university prices and one can enrol in several online courses with the rest of the money and build up their resume Linkedin and connections.
Likes (Indian Food): The food business is booming in Western Australia. You can find different cuisines in the various parts of Perth. If one does not like hotel food, people provide tiffin services of home cooked food with good quality and a reasonable price. The food items available such as fruits and vegetables are of premium quality.
Dislikes (Internships): The quality of study services is poor and leads to less chances of scoring good internships. Moreover, companies prefer domestic students over international students. Also some people took advantage of students to get their work done on internships without compensation. For an entry level person, there is not much probability of scoring a good internship and a job easily irrespective of your scores and GPA.

A great balance of academics, culture, and opportunities.
Tips: Students should know that Edith Cowan University provides a supportive academic environment, modern facilities, and a diverse student community, which makes it easier to adapt and excel. Transitioning here was smooth, though I did experience a cultural shift in terms of more independent learning and open classroom discussions, which helped me grow personally and academically. I did not avail of any scholarships, but the university offers a range of merit- and need-based options for international students. Overall, I am very satisfied with the university, my course, and studying in Australia, as it has provided me with quality education, valuable experiences, and a welcoming multicultural environment.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): I rated 5 on the quality of faculty because the lectures are highly knowledgeable and supportive and bring strong industry experience into the classroom. Faculty members are approachable and always available for guidance through consultations, emails, and tutorials. The teaching methodology is very interactive, blending theory with practical case studies, group discussions, and real-world projects, which makes learning engaging and relevant. The faculty is also diverse, with professors from different nationalities and professional backgrounds, bringing global perspectives that enrich the learning experience.

Very few opportunities exist.
Tips: No cultural shift. I had my scholarship, university, and the course is okay, not very good. The curriculum should be changed according to the market. University doesn't help you get into the job market. Professors are not as helpful as others in guiding you to make your space in the market.
