The cost of living is high in Toronto.
Tips: Their goals must be clearly aligned towards the course. Students should dedicated time to self study as the instructor teaches the overview only. The cost of living is high in Toronto but the part time jobs are hard to get. After graduation, it is really hard to get a job. I would rather recommend students to go for a Masters degree and get their studies done in a year and get a work permit and a domain job.
Likes (Safety): It's fine but North York in itself isn't safe. Especially the intersection of Jane and Finch near the university is the most unsafe place in Toronto. The university takes care of your safety. I don't think safety is really a problem. You should try not to live in North York as the housing isn't good. I would rather suggest finding a house a little far from the main campus. Scarborough, Markham and Richmond Hill are good options.
Dislikes (Value for money): I would rather spend on pursuing Masters and get more credit for the CPA rather than this course. The structure is not designed properly at all. The fee is way too high. Rather I would suggest you to go for Masters in Rock or Smith University or Concordia. If you are planning to do CPA please be prepared for the harsh reality of the Canadian job market. CPA is worth it but the process in itself is lengthy.

The faculty is supportive and we have flexible schedule.
Tips: York University is a renowned university in Toronto. Before coming, please be ready to accept the cultural change. In Canada, people are more polite and kind. They are open-minded, helpful, and nonjudgemental. I did not get any scholarships. There was an application fee to apply for the course. Studying as an international student makes you more independent, and decisive and provides opportunities towards your career.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Faculty members at my university are really helpful and good. There are different requirements for different subjects and it is based on the faculty, so some conduct exams and some don't they prefer practical assignments and all. They are more open-minded and allow students to prioritize their tasks.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Nowadays, the job market in the healthcare sector is booming in Canada. Canada is referring to skilled workers such as welders, mechanics, and painters. They also prefer French-speaking candidates in some provinces like Montreal.

Easily approachable management and faculty. Studying in university has it's perks.
Tips: I didn't feel much of a cultural shift when I arrived at York University, perhaps because so many of the students are from India. I didn't receive a scholarship, and I don't know how to apply for one. But if you have a good academic record in your home country, you can contact the college by email and they will respond. I am generally satisfied with the university, but I am not happy with the course content. I expected a lot more than they delivered. The country is decent, but there is some racism. Immigrants from India have achieved a lot here, but a few of them are spoiling the culture by breaking certain laws.
Likes (Indian Food): I haven't eaten a lot outside, but I have been to a few Indian restaurants or cafes. The food options are great, and the taste is too. However, don't compare the prices with Indian currency, or you won't choose the dish because the prices are set according to Canadian standards, not Indian. I prefer eating homemade food.
Dislikes (Part time work): On-campus part-time jobs are quite limited and hard to get if you don't have any strong references or connections with someone already working. Off-campus opportunities also require good networking skills and strong references but off-campus is easier to apply for the role.

York University experience - Pros and cons.
Tips: If you're considering attending York University you should know that you'll get some great perks after you enroll including free LinkedIn and Microsoft subscriptions. To get the most out of your time at York try to network with other students and join events and seminars. You'll also want to interact with your professors as they can guide you in the right direction.
Likes (Safety): The campus is safe and secure and you can walk around at night without being bothered. The security system is good and there's an app that can help you in case of an emergency. The library is open until midnight so you can study safely there as well.
Dislikes (Internships): I'm finding it difficult to find an internship. The job market is down, and the college doesn't provide any guidance. If you're considering coming here, do your research first. You'll need to find your own connections and resources.

International teaching and research university.
Tips: First of all it is great university for further studies. Prepare yourself before joining the college. Do research on college and its records. Also, look at expenses from start to end. Grab scholarships and get some help from admitted students so that you won't face problems there.
Likes (Safety): The student life at York University is great. First of all the diverse campus will make you comfortable. There are many cultural events which will not let you feel homesick. There are many cultural and literary clubs. Sports are the main attraction. Games are held every month. I have been experiencing a great student life.
Dislikes (Public transportation): The faculty of York university is so good. You will see diversity. Some Indian faculty will be teaching you. Our department's faculty is great. They are so frank and helpful. You won't get doubts and the teachers are so motivated that will guide you on the right way to do things in a different country. In conclusion, the faculty is great in York University.

It's an amazing college and it focuses on each student the way it is meant to be.
Tips: There was a bit cultural shift when I moved from India to Canada. Canada is known for its multi-cultural diversity and with this different cultures bring in a different form of living style and their own festivals. The good thing is we have all kinds of food available here.
Likes (Post study jobs): Many companies offer work visas. Accountant roles have been offered to students with a salary of $70,000 CAD. Most companies give you the position of supervisor or Project manager because both of the position comes under NOC-B jobs, so it'll be helpful for the student to get his Permanent Residence.
Dislikes (Safety): The parking space is small. We have safety workshops for women on self-defence. Counselling and support services. Escort services for physically disabled students and they have their own choice of schedule which helps them to cope with studies the way they want.

Cool campus life and good support service.
Tips: Its very important for students to research the colleges programs, faculty, facilities, and campus life. Understanding the admission requirements and available resources can help make an informed decision. I don't personally avail scholarships but through academic achievements, extracurricular activities, or specific criteria set by the college. Allowances vary widely based on the scholarship and the institution. I don't have personal feelings but student satisfaction can depend on factors like the quality of education which is good here, support services which are also very good they respond very fast, and campus life which is very cool here. Searching reviews and talking to current students can provide insights into satisfaction levels.
Likes (Public transportation): We can commute easily there. TTC is a good way to commute. There is subways as well as bus service near the campus.
If we look at other cities like Brampton, the bus service there is not so good and it will take too much time to commute from there to York University.
Dislikes (Value for money): Too much fees for international students and if we look the fee structure of domestic students. It's approximately 3 times less. Like we only have to go to 2 or 3 days to the school for 3-hour classes each day and I think its too much fee for the same.

The York experience was satisfactory but in terms of academics, they could do better.
Tips: You can check credit transfers options which might save you a few dollars. You should also verify accommodation before paying the lease money. Try to utilise the facilities provided by your school, like library, etc. My cohort was not very diversified which is something I was disappointed from.
Likes (Safety): The university area is safe and secure. There is policing on subways as well. Downtown Toronto is generally a shady place, you do find homeless and intoxicated people around the subway station who do misbehave at times. I have also seen people getting robbed in front of me, so just carry pepper spray, be alert and smart.
Dislikes (Value for money): I feel that the tuition fees is expensive in terms of the quality of education provided. However, if you see the standard tuition rates of fellow colleges in Canada, Toronto, one wouldn't say that it's expensive. My classes were online for the first semester due to which I couldn't avail the facilities offered by the university.

The university is so supportive and great to start your studies
Tips: There was some cultural shift when I came to a new country. I didn't get any scholarships for my course and the university doesn't offer any scholarships too. My university is good. The teachers and staff members give proper attention and are very serious in terms of academics.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): I would like to settle in this country for having a better future. However, if I got a better opportunity in my home country I would switch. If given a chance to settle here I would do it after getting a job opportunity as it will be preferable.
Dislikes (Internships): In my course, the coop is not much available but some are there. However, there are various sites where we can search for job opportunities like Indeed, Linkedln. But the problem is there is an immense number of competition in the market.

Great university to explore
Tips: The university is great and you have to explore on your own. There are many social events for international students which you can attend and get to know more people. And the campus is so huge that you can explore there are gyms, indoor sports, a cafeteria and much more.
Likes (Public transportation): It is very convenient to travel via bus as well as subway as it has a stop right on the campus. There is a subway station inside the campus and also several bus stops on the campus itself. Also there are on-campus university shuttles which can pick up and drop you off anywhere on the campus for free.
Dislikes (Internships): My course doesn't have any internship and co-op opportunities so that's why I don't have any opinion about it. If you come here for your bachelor's degree then you'll have many opportunities to work on campus and get experience.

This is a whole new experience here. You will have your lows but just trust the process.
Tips: This is a place that has people from all around the world. And you have to be mindful of their customs because sometimes people judge the way you think about other communities. Also, it's a good opportunity for anybody who gets an offer letter from this university. They should go for it to have an easy and balanced academic as well as professional life.
Likes (Quality of faculty): York university is one the best universities of Canada. I was told in India that university is difficult to deal with but in reality, it's the opposite. It has flexible hours and schedules. Not to forget about assignments that are not burden here.
Dislikes (Safety): Sometimes people hit and stab you and being an international student, you can't even keep spray pepper or any kind of weapon with you for your safety. That's kind of absurd. And, TTC I. e. Toronto transit is not safe anymore. Strange people also travel from TTC specially subways.

Smart effort changes your approach towards personal and professional life.
Tips: The student must know the study pattern difference and lifestyle differences. The students here not only study and prepare for exams but also work in part time areas for earning their livelihood, pay their college fees and learn skills of financial management which are not generally learnt at college level in Asian countries. Moreover, legal implications are very serious in Canada, the Canadian government really considers visa violations seriously so any wrongful act or indecent behaviour would directly amount to deportation and cancellation of visa. So the whole country gives you an amazing learning experience and matures your mind set for further hurdles you face while entering the job market.
Likes (Student Life): The student life is different from India, as the study pattern is more on conceptual clarity than learning the information. The university Keele campus is surrounded by various residential complexes with different types of residential spaces (York Appartments), coffee shops, food courts (York Lanes) having diversity in cuisines with that the campus provides outdoor and indoor co-curriculum activities and also wellness center (York Lions). The university itself provides not only strong community based support but also support related to ways of life in Canada and psychological consultations. So for education purpose, the University is best for experiencing graduate studies.
Dislikes (Internships): The university faculty has its career department which guides you with various internships opportunity available across a year. And the ways to prepare your application documents. The most important is the student needs to be proactive in understanding the methodology of application preparation and advocating about their areas of interest or past experience in certain parts of applications. Moreover, the application process has timelines so before your start, with course, you can communicate to seek information with the department or your instructor. So the Osgoode Hall Law School of York University is active in guiding you in your career considering you are willing to make efforts for the same.

In my opinion it is very nice college. If you want to study here in whatever field you want.
Tips: In york university, every student has to submit a transcript from their previous University. So whoever is coming to college please bring transcripts with you. And also students must have a laptop with them as all courses require it.
Likes (Student Life): Walmart is one of the biggest super market in Canada and I always do grocery shopping from that store. I got all the Indian foods which I want from Walmart. Also, panchavati named Indian grocery shops are here in GTA area where anyone can buy all Indian foods.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): I came here in December 2022 and since then I have searched for part time job. But still, I have not received any job as in this winter time it is tough to find a job. Also, reference is required here at most places in order to get a particular job.

Fun, regional, and culturally diverse.
Tips: Will be really helpful with respect to PR as it contributes to regional points and good pricing with respect to the other universities while offering the same curriculum and good university life with lots of fun activities taking place. But I won't recommend it if it's a business or IT Degree.
Likes (Safety): The university has a good number of guards around 24/7 and also provides safety escorts anytime required by students, if they aren't feeling safe. Also there is a safety app provided by the university which can be used by the students any time if they feel uneasy.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Based on my course outcome and degree, I feel not on par with the industry requirements and the job market with respect to business and IT has been overwhelmingly competitive and reference plays an important role in finding or obtaining jobs. It's a really competitive market out there.

My uni was really good in terms of studies, faculty, courses, activities and campus engagements.
Tips: Take your studies seriously and don't change your mind for the course you've opted as it gives a false impression to the immigration department. It's very easy to get a scholarship here if you've scored well in the previous examinations.
I'm fully satisfied with the country, course and uni.
Likes (Public transportation): Transportation is really convenient as the university has two shuttle buses. One goes clockwise and the other goes anticlockwise. These two buses cover almost all the major parts of the city including the railway station, bus stops, shopping centres, hospitals and schools. These buses are used by all the students for daily commute to Uni which allows them to live and work on the outskirts without impacting their pocket.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): It is really hard to get permanent residency in Australia because of strict immigration policies which are getting even more strict and competitive every year. Factors are based on skilled occupation list, point system eligibility, language proficiency, work experience etc. This country is really beautiful to migrate to, but the chances are less to get residency.

A different reality- culture, fun and academics.
Tips: Nothing in particular, the people are quite friendly. I just recommend reviewing your course's curriculum properly before progressing.
Check if the course leads to a skill in the pr list, if that's a factor you consider. In general, you might have the nerves initially but life in uni isn't that challenging if you have your priorities set irrespective of what others say/do.
Likes (Quality of faculty): I found the faculty for Master of Marketing to be very friendly, approachable and I looked forward to their classes. I can say, they did push me to be creative, think out of the box and made it an enjoyable experience to interact with students from other nationalities, countries, neighbouring and others.

A very cozy university situated in a beautiful small regional city.
Tips: Try to connect with people who are already here and have an idea about what you plan to do. By only pursuing a master’s you are not going anywhere in life. It is essential to recognise this fact and act accordingly. Always try researching about scholarships academic guidance and a lot of other things that international students don’t make use of.
Likes (Public transportation): Wollongong is a small regional city. If you live within a 5 km radius, it is easy for you to travel since you have free buses to almost all necessary places like the university, the grocery or your part time job. Houses can be a little expensive, please have atleast 800 to 900 in your budget for accommodation.
Dislikes (Value for money): The tuition fees are similar to every other university in Australia, maybe 15% less or 15% more. The tuition fees would be worth only if you have a skill set of 80% and you want to add value to the skillset by doing a master's, it is important have this in mind.

Beautiful campus and campus life.
Tips: This university I choose because it was in a suburban location and I had a scholarship for it as well for 30% Always look for scholarships most students get. The location is super beautiful University has a very huge campus. You can find new places to look around even after 2 years on campus university provides 100 of clubs and groups to join like minded people and volunteering work for different events On campus you have lots of job opportunities while studying as well like working in a village grocery store, university shop, university bar, fitness and more Uow have lots of other opportunities like running your own society and help you with career opportunities by helping you with your CV and career fair.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Faculty members are really helpful in classrooms and beyond that. All our professors were available to meet offline or online. All you have to do is book an appointment online for your consultation. You can discuss about your subject queries or anything related to projects. We were having both online and offline classes. Usually, they provide you with some learning materials before the lecture and you are required to study to discuss about the same and practice questions or problems on it in the classroom. Or sometimes you have just tutorials once a week in class and lecture videos are provided online to study at your own pace. We usually had 2 assignments and a 50% final exam in the end. I was in the trimester system. Finance is more exam based.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): I have just completed my degree and started applying for job positions in my field and I have recently started working in university finance department as a casual only also as per my study on visa processing I have understood that there is very limited scope for my field finance but its not that there is no option because I haven't really taken any consultation from anybody. I might not have complete information.

Wonderful university and with beautiful campus.
Tips: You can apply for scholarships and go for multiple subject options and can change them later as well. They have some dual degree options as well. This university is located at a beautiful place called Wollongong which is a suburb and gives you extra points and a year for visa also it's a wonderful campus. They have multiple societies, clubs and groups to join and volunteer activities. You can stay the whole day on campus and still find something new and interesting every day. It's very huge and beautiful. Loved the space and vibe. Wollongong is beautiful even more than Melbourne and Sydney.
Likes (Post study jobs): Job market is really good. It's just you need to look at the right place and have the right kind of skill set and be keen to apply for it. The university provides you with a career hub and lots of companies come and chat and help you explore options. Then you can get your CV reviewed and help in applying for jobs which was really of great help.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): I have recently completed my degree in finance and started receiving some opportunities in this field as I had some previous experience and I also did some courses other than university here in Australia. This helped me a bit to get some opportunities. However I have realised there are very few finance related options for PR in Australia. I dont think so it's anyway a good idea to depend on a sponsorship visa because very few people do that and also I dont want to change to other jobs to just get a PR otherwise people move to other fields for PR pathways. I haven't really got my things assessed for PR pathways so I might not be the right person to state that.

Wollongong is a beautiful regional city with beaches, nature, and great lifestyle benefits.
Tips: Living in a regional area has its advantages, especially when it comes to immigration benefits, but for students and professionals in Computer Science or IT, it can also present certain challenges. One of the main issues is the limited number of job opportunities compared to metropolitan cities like Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane. These larger cities are home to major tech companies, startups, and innovation hubs, providing a more dynamic environment for CS/IT professionals to grow and network. In contrast, regional areas typically have fewer IT firms, and the available roles may be more generalist or focused on support rather than development, data Science, or AI-related work. The job market in these areas is smaller, and competition can be high for a limited number of positions. This can make it difficult for fresh graduates to find suitable jobs that align with their specialisation and career goals. Furthermore, networking events, teach meetups, and workshops are not as frequent in regional areas, which can hinder professional development. Many students and professionals in IT rely on such events to stay updated with industry trends and connect with potential employers. However, it's also worth noting that remote work opportunities are growing, and some companies are open to hiring skilled professionals regardless of location. Building a strong portfolio, gaining remote internships, and upskilling online can help bridge the gap. While regional areas offer great lifestyle and immigration perks, CS/IT students need to be proactive in seeking out career-building opportunities.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): Living and studying in a regional area definitely provides significant benefits for immigration to Australia. The Australian government actively encourages migrants to move to regional areas by offering various incentives. One of the major advantages is that applicants who live, work, or study in a designated regional area can earn additional points towards their points-tested visa applications, such as the Skilled Independent or Skilled Nominated visas. These extra points can make a huge difference in securing an invitation to apply for permanent residence. Furthermore, regional areas often have access to specific visa pathways, like the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) and the Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) visa (subclass 191). These visa options are designed to attract skilled workers to regional communities, helping to balance population growth across Australia. Studying in a regional area also makes international students eligible for an additional one or two years of post-study work rights compared to those studying in major cities like Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane. This extended time can be crucial for gaining valuable work experience in Australia, which further strengthens future visa applications. Regional living also tends to offer a more affordable and relaxed lifestyle, which many find appealing. Smaller communities often have a strong support network, making it easier to settle and integrate.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): One of the biggest challenges many people face when entering the workforce is the requirement of prior experience to get a job. This situation creates a difficult cycle: you need experience to get hired, but you need a job to gain experience. For many fresh graduates and those looking to switch careers, this can be extremely frustrating. Employers often prefer candidates who already have practical knowledge and a proven track record, making it harder for newcomers to even get their foot in the door. Internships, volunteering, and part-time work have become essential ways to gain initial experience. Many people invest time in unpaid or low-paid roles just to build their resumes and demonstrate their skills to future employers. However, not everyone has the luxury to work for free, and this can create inequality in the job market. Another approach is to work on personal projects, take relevant certifications, or complete online courses to show initiative and competencies. Building a strong portfolio, especially in fields like IT, design, or writing, can sometimes substitute for formal work experience. Ultimately, the requirement for prior experience can delay people's career starts and make the job market more competitive. Companies that offer entry-level positions with proper training programs tend to attract more loyal employees and benefit from fresh perspectives. Industries need to recognise potential, not just past job history, and create opportunities for new talent to enter the workforce confidently and fair.

Traditional job searches are not going to work here.
Tips: Before coming to study abroad in Australia, I didn’t realise that Australian universities don’t have placements or job fairs. I was shocked. Come here to study genuinely, and not to make money, since money will come later. All universities here are the same, but the Group of Eight (G8) universities are tied to companies, so students might have an easier time finding jobs; even then, it is usually a very small percentage of students. In Australia, it’s not about what you know, but who you know, so networking is very important, starting from day one. Lecturers don’t care if you understand; they just read slides and leave. It’s basically self-learning, and it’s the same anywhere in Australia. The job market here is really not great at all. It is very hard to get a job without some sort of work experience. I would highly recommend coming here with some work experience in India. But if you do come here with no experience, it is imperative to be outgoing and take every opportunity. Traditional job searches are not going to work here.
Likes (Public transportation): Wollongong has free public transportation to all the major areas. It also has trains that go to the city at a fairly good frequency. Free buses leave from the university every 10 minutes to all the main stops in the city, including the beaches, grocery stores, the shopping mall, and food stores.
Dislikes (Internships): Wollongong is a regional city, and you won’t be able to get internships here. The computer science and IT fields here are lacking; most companies will hire only citizens or permanent residents. But you'll have a better chance if you are applying for healthcare or mining.

Peaceful and comfortable learning environment.
Tips: The transition was easy for me since I’m comfortable speaking English. The people here are welcoming, and the student body is friendly. I received a post-graduate scholarship that covered about 30% of my tuition. It seemed to depend on the course I was applying for and my profile. I am mostly happy with the university, given the fact that Australia is facing a large number of migration issues, and the UOW has been affected by that. Some things are different from what they used to be two years ago. University of Wollongong is a peaceful, laid-back place to live and learn, especially if you're coming from a big city like Sydney. Wollongong is a regional area about an hour's drive from Sydney. This means that the student life there is much quieter than what you'd find at a city university. However, that doesn't mean that the student body doesn't have lots to do. The area has several restaurants, including Indian food, and other conveniences that make for a pleasant campus life. There are also many beaches nearby. If that's not enough, the UOW campus is full of friendly people to help keep you entertained.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): There are no on-campus placements in Australia. However, there are job events where potential employers come and present their companies. They also talk about opportunities and careers in different fields. There are internships, too. The only thing is that the competition is very high, and one might have to network just to get their foot in the door.

One of the best college in Australia
Tips: The students should know first few months can be difficult. There is a cultural shift but you get used to the change and love to be here. Also, the students get scholarships of about 30% that reduce their fees and they will be able to pay your fees while studying by working hard.

A remarkable college experience: Strong infra, faculty and campus.
Tips: Students should research and understand the available academic, and faculty expertise. Also, the overall reputation of the college in their chosen field of study. Permanent settlement options are good so take that into consideration. Your course and college should align with your educational and career goals. Familiar yourself with campus facilities.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): I rated 5 out of 5 on permanent immigration/settlement options. Because the country and specifically the university campus in Wollongong offers attractive pathways and incentives for International students to pursue permanent settlement. One significant advantage would be one year of extra post-study work visa.
Dislikes (Internships): In terms of internship, I rated 4 out of 5 because the university provides a good amount of guidance and support to students seeking internships. The university recognizes the importance of practical experience and hands-on learning opportunities for students to enhance their skills and employability.

It's affordable and has a good name.
Tips: You should be ready. First few months can be difficult. There is a cultural shift but you get used to the change and love to be here. You get scholarships of about 30% which will reduce your fees and you can afford to pay your fees while studying if you work hard. I am very satisfied with the university as it has a very good name and it is affordable. I paid my fees myself and managed to ace it.

It's good to study and enjoy the college atmosphere
Tips: My university provided a scholarship. They are very helpful and supportive in all ways. And many more opportunities such as job, internships and so on are provided to students. For students coming here, it is important to know what the college is providing and what is beneficial to you or else it would be difficult to understand.
Likes (Public transportation): It is very easy and convenient to reach the university. You have buses and trains to reach the university. Plan before you start as the timings are on time. And there isn't much to understand with the system, although, I am new and still exploring the country I would say public transport is easy to use.
Dislikes (Internships): There are many ways to apply for an internship. The college provides input for where you can do stuff for the jobs and all. You can find relevant internships based on your studies like business analytics, digital marketing, business development management and so on.

You can meet people from different cultures, and learn about them.
Tips: Since I'm here only for 10 months I can say that there are many opportunities for medical, teaching and finance as well so students coming here can try doing these specific courses to land them the best job. However, make sure you are aligned with the course offered and know what your courses can provide you.
Likes (Indian Food): The minimum of food expenses if you want to eat out would be around 10 to 15 aud dollars. To save up money I would recommend cooking home food. The less you spend on outside food, the more you can buy groceries and necessities for a whole week. So this way you can save a maximum upto 50% of your money if you keep track of your finance on food.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The chance of immigration is pretty moderate if you're here to study only business courses. But if you are doing medicine then you are in a safe place to work in and be happy with your income. If I had a chance to permanently shift here then I would because of the cultural diversity. It's like no matter how much you dig down you'll still find more to explore.

Amazing time spent in UOW!
Tips: My time at UOW was amazing! Made a ton of friends from different backgrounds and ethnicities. There are plenty of interactive events here that one can be a part of. The library is very spacious and commuting to the university is quite easy because there is a free shuttle bus service provided. There is a transition but it is swift if you are open to it, embracing diversity.

Not so good experience at UOW.
Tips: To be a finance student in UOW is not easy, I studied finance here and as an International student from India, it's hard to get accustomed to the Australian English accent. You'll find yourself in situations where you hardly understand anything that is delivered. The course is not very easy, even if you prepare well you will not score good. If you are someone who is academically oriented and is always striving to get good grades then it will surely give you a hard time and might demotivate you too. You're required to submit too many assignments in a short time that it becomes difficult to keep track of yourself and what you are doing apart from your studies. Don't fall for the campus trap, the campus no doubt is beautiful but the campus life is so stressful. Administration here is also a problem, they hardly listen to your grievances. So, look out before coming here. If this is your shot at this country, then only take it and go for the admission process.

University of Wollongong is good.
Tips: For me, finding a room to rent in the early 2021 was very stressful, there were literally no empty rooms to rent at that time and I was traveling to university from Sydney which was very hectic. So if you don't have any contacts or relatives here at Wollongong, just book University accommodation if you can afford it.
Likes (Safety): People here are very welcoming and friendly. Although very rare, coming across drunks while waiting for the public transportation in the evenings was not a pleasant experience for me. I need to point it out that in my stay of over five months here, this happened only once.
Dislikes (Part time work): Landing the first part-time job is a bit difficult, even more so if you don't have any experience in the given industry (hospitality or any other). But being persistent and applying for jobs and not missing any opportunities will eventually help in getting one. On a different note, if you haven't already had your driving license, get it done before moving here, it will come in handy at times.

Supportive and globally enriching experience.
Tips:
Before joining the University of Wollongong students should know about its academic excellence, cultural diversity, and strong support services. Cultural adaptation can be challenging, but UOW provides resources to ease the transition. Many students experience culture shock initially but adjust over time. UOW offers scholarships like the Postgraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship, covering up to 30% of tuition fees. The university helps students balance academics, part-time work and social life.
Likes (Part time work):
The University of Wollongong offers on campus part-time jobs like administrative assistants, mentors and hospitality roles. Off-campus students find jobs in retail, tutoring and hospitality through platforms like Seek and Indeed. Balancing part-time work with academics is manageable, especially with flexible on-campus roles. The average pay for part-time jobs ranges from $25 to $35 per hour. Many students rate part-time work highly due to good availability and fair wages. UOW's career services help students find suitable jobs ensuring visa compliance.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Many companies in Wollongong offer visa sponsorship, including those in education, hospitality, healthcare and IT. Common roles include lecturers, chefs, nurses and data engineers. Salaries range from $63,000 to $112,000+, depending on the job and experience. Employers like the University of Wollongong, IRT Group, and The Shellharbour Club frequently offer sponsorship. Check Seek, Indeed and LinkedIn for the latest job openings.
