Washington State University (WSU) has launched a 1-year MBA program with a focus on data analytics and how to use it to make informed, strategic decisions. The program will be taught at the university’s College of Business in Pullman, Washington.

The 1-Year Pullman MBA is a cohort-based system starting each fall. The course re-commenced in August this year. The program was closed for two-years to revise the curriculum.

Eligibility & Application

  • GMAT & GPA: The school uses the following formula to calculate index
    (GPA x 200) + GMAT =1150 (however, if a student earns a GPA 4.00, GMAT score of 350 will not be accepted. Higher GMAT is required for competitive application)
  • A list of foundation courses (pre-requisite) need to be completed before enrolling for the Pullman MBA. Candidate having undergraduate degree in business administration from an AACSB or EQUIS accredited business school, may be exempted. 
  • Three letters of recommendation (from current supervisor or manager or professor in case of fresh pass outs)
  • TOEFL (min 580) or IELTS (min 7.5) for international students
  • Statement of purpose covering ‘why you want to get an MBA, what strengths you have to offer the program, and why WSU.’
  • Resume
  • Application fee of $75

Some of the program details are:

  • Approximately 30 students in the first cohort in 2013-2014. Capacity is 60 students.
  • The curriculum includes MBA studies as well as analytics courses.
  • Final graduation project includes working with business client on developing solution to analytical challenge.
  • Students work with IBM software tools, including Cognos and InfoSphere BigInsights, as well as the R programming language.
  • Three-week trip for international study.
  • Tuition Fee: $23,000 for in-state residents; approximately $41,000 for out-of-state residents, as mentioned in DataInformed.com.
