dMAT 2026 Exam Analysis: Difficulty Level & Paper Pattern

The first dMAT (Digital Master Test) exam was conducted on September 26, 2026. The dMAT 2026 question paper had two broad modules: the Core Module and the General/Subject Module. dMAT Exam Analysis 2026: Difficulty Level

The dMAT 2026 exam analysis is based on feedback shared by candidates who appeared for the first dMAT exam. Students found the Core Module difficult and time-consuming, especially Mathematical Equations and complex Pattern Recognition questions. The General Module was comparatively easier, but its topics were difficult to predict.

dMAT 2026 Core Module Analysis

The dMAT Core Module included three sections: Pattern Recognition, Mathematical Equations and Latin Squares. Candidates reported 20 questions in each section, with around 25 minutes provided for each part. The overall pattern was considered predictable, but the difficulty increased during the sections.

One candidate said that the Core Module followed the expected areas but was more difficult than the official sample material. Another candidate said that the core pattern was predictable and that candidates preparing for the next dMAT should focus more on these sections.

dMAT Pattern Recognition Analysis 2026

Pattern Recognition started with relatively easier questions, according to candidates. However, the difficulty increased after the initial questions. Some questions included four or five different shapes, with each figure moving or changing in a different way.

Students said that such questions were difficult to solve within the available time. One candidate explained that the actual exam had more complex figure combinations than the sample paper, making the questions harder to analyse mentally.

dMAT Mathematical Equations Analysis 2026

Mathematical Equations was reported as one of the most difficult sections of the dMAT exam. Candidates said that the initial questions were manageable, but later questions involved more complex equations, including square and quadratic-type calculations.

The absence of paper and pen for rough work was also mentioned as a challenge. Students said that basic calculations could be done mentally, but longer calculations and equations were difficult to manage within the time limit.

Another candidate from a non-mathematics background said that longer calculations and derivations were particularly difficult without rough paper. Some students said that while solving mathematical equations, there were questions about quadratics too, and there were even four variables in many of the problems. 

dMAT Latin Squares Analysis 2026

Latin Squares was considered comparatively manageable by some candidates. The section followed the expected pattern and was familiar to students who had practised the sample questions. However, time remained a major concern. The time for Latin squares in the dMAT exam was about 25 minutes for 20 questions.

Some candidates were able to solve most of the Latin Squares questions but had to guess the remaining questions because the section time was running out. Students also reported that the Latin Square questions did not always provide conventional answer options and required candidates to identify the correct solution.

dMAT 2026 General Module Analysis

The General Module was considerably different from the Core Module. Candidates reported passages followed by multiple questions. One student reported that there were 10 passages and 90 minutes for the module, with questions based on each passage.

Students found this section comparatively easier because many questions could be solved through basic reasoning. Candidates also said that reading the complete passage was not always necessary. However, some questions required knowledge that was not directly provided in the passage. The General Academic Module was okay but not too easy. It was confusing, but some passages were about the periodic table, rotational motion, systems of linear equations, etc. 

Topics Asked in dMAT General Module 2026

According to candidate feedback, the General Module included questions related to several different areas. These included Finite Automata, Chemistry, Economics, Stocks, Options and Futures. Other candidates also mentioned psychology and socio-economic topics.

One candidate said that some questions were based on knowledge outside the passage. For example, a chemistry question required knowledge about isotopes that was not directly given in the passage.

This made the General Module difficult to predict through conventional subject-wise preparation. Students who had prepared the official PDFs said that several topics in the actual exam did not match the topics they had expected.

dMAT 2026 Student Reviews

Candidates who appeared for the first dMAT exam described the Core Module as challenging but relatively predictable. The General Module was described as less predictable because questions were asked from different academic and general knowledge areas.

A candidate used this statement while explaining why future aspirants should focus strongly on the Core Module. Students said that the core pattern was predictable even though the complexity of the questions could increase.

Another candidate explained that the Core Module could be prepared more systematically because the same broad question types were expected. However, the difficulty level could be higher than the sample questions.

On the General Module, candidates had a different experience. One student said that several topics were seen for the first time in the actual examination, despite preparing the material available on the official website.

dMAT 2026 Exam Pattern and Time Management

Time management was one of the biggest challenges reported by candidates in the first dMAT exam. The Core Module had separate time limits for its sections, which meant candidates could not carry unused time from one section to another.

Students said that the time was particularly difficult to manage in Mathematical Equations and complex Pattern Recognition questions. Candidates who spent too much time on difficult questions had to guess some of the questions towards the end.

The lack of rough paper was another concern. Candidates said that having a rough sheet could have helped them organise calculations and complex figures more easily.

Student feedback suggests that candidates preparing for the next dMAT should focus strongly on the Core Module. Pattern Recognition, Mathematical Equations and Latin Squares are the areas where the question format appears to be more predictable.

However, candidates should not prepare only basic-level questions. The feedback indicates that the actual exam can include more complicated versions of the same question types. Students should therefore practise questions that combine multiple patterns and require quick mental calculation.

The General Module requires a different approach. Since candidates reported questions from unexpected areas, preparation based only on the official sample topics may not cover everything asked in the examination.

One candidate also said that the official mock material was not very useful for predicting the actual Subject Module, although it was useful for understanding the Core Module structure.
