History
FAU Erlangen-Nurnberg was established on 1743 by Margrave Friedrich von Brandenburg-Bayreuth. It was expanded from 1769 by Margrave Alexander von Brandenburg-Ansbach and Brandenburg. In 1810, Friedrich-Alexander-Universitat was moved to the Bavarian state. By 1818, this university acquired a vast number of buildings such as the Schloss and the Schlossgarten. The name of this university has been borrowed from this university's first founder Friedrich, who was Margrave of Brandenburg-Bayreuth and its benefactor Christian Frederick Charles Alexander, who was Margrave of Brandenburg-Ansbach.
