The application process for this research Master consists of a written and an oral part.

For the written part, applicants hand in a certification about an internship or practical work in the computer industry that lasted at least 18 weeks as well as a scientific work that they produced on their own (e.g. Bachelor‘s thesis or a seminar paper).

Applicants further have to choose a topic from our research groups and do a two-page literature review covering important scientific publications in the chosen topic.
- If the written part is passed with a grade of at least 2.3, you are admitted to the oral part, which can be done in a video chat. To prepare for the oral part, you get a case study concerning a challenge in the chosen topic from the written part. You present your solutions for the case study and answer additional questions in a 30 minutes oral exam in English language. If you pass the oral exam with a grade of at least 2.3, you will be admitted to the Master‘s program.

My Master's Journey in Germany
Tips: For me, the transition was special because I had lived with my family for 22 years, and for the first time, I was living away from them and that too in another country. So, the early days were challenging to adapt to a new culture, a new country and sometimes even food which I never had in my home country. But you have to stay strong and positive in order to get used to the things and become comfortable. If you want to grow in life, you always need to step out of your comfort zone.
Likes (Internships): The professors and student office guide you through the application process. You can also find some internship advertisements on the university career portal, but the options are limited, and they may not always be in your preferred field. So, you have to search by yourself and apply for the same. The student centre also guides you regarding CV and cover letter format and other details.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Hof is a small town in Bavaria, Germany, so there are fewer Indian restaurants compared to big cities. If I remember correctly, there were two Indian restaurants available during my master's. In general, I love cooking, so I always preferred to cook at home during my master's.

Finding the balance in HOF.
Tips: Learn the German language so that you can find jobs here, although the college is highly English speaking too. The staff and faculty members are really very cooperative and the college has a beautiful campus with modern technologies available to students. There's not a single thing to dislike about the college.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Almost every professor has good industry experience and thus, the practical knowledge that they share is very much relevant and valuable. Two-way communication is very much appreciated and practised, which improves the quality of lectures. One thing that should be highly noted is that you don't come late. Professors put the same effort with the same intention irrespective of the number of attendees which reflects their honesty and professionalism towards their role. Really something to learn from them even in everyday life.
Dislikes (Part time work): HOF is a small but peaceful town with a majority of its population who seem to be aged and speak only German and thus it becomes hard to find English speaking jobs here. If you can keep up the conversation in German, you will find it easy to find jobs. And if you do get one, HOF is not expensive anyway, and you will start enjoying and appreciating this beautiful town here.

Life and learnings at Hof University.
Tips: Initially, adjusting to the culture was challenging as it was my first time being so far from home. However, things became smoother over time. Securing a part-time job and making new friends made the experience worthwhile. There are scholarship opportunities available for students with good academic performance. I am fully satisfied with my course and the university.
Likes (Safety): Mostly, residential areas in Germany are very quiet and calm, and it's very safe to walk around, even at night. I once even forgot my phone on public transport, but I was able to get it back due to the good security. Additionally, Germany offers student discounts on public transportation, which is very beneficial.
Dislikes (Indian Food): As an Indian finding Indian food isn't an issue in Germany with numerous Indian and Asian restaurants available everywhere. The prices are also reasonable. I eat Indian food about once a month, and it's easy to find all the necessary products to cook Indian dishes.

A close-knit campus with global and creative opportunities.
Tips: The transition to Germany was both exciting and challenging. I experienced a cultural shift mainly in independent and punctual life here, and also in the direct way people communicate, which I've grown to appreciate. I haven't applied for any scholarships yet, but Hof University offers various scholarships like DAAD, Deutschland Stipendium, and other scholarships. Overall, I am very much satisfied with my university as the professors are approachable, the course is well-structured, and the country offers a safe and international environment that allows me to grow both academically and professionally.
Likes (Student Life): There will be regular lectures, seminars, and presentations. The university campus is very calm and serene, offering a good atmosphere for students to study. The library is well-equipped, and the university campus offers various facilities. Regular career-related and community-based events take place at the university. Hof University has clubs for sports, international networking, entrepreneurship, cultural exchange, and student representation.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are few Indian restaurants but they lack authenticity and are expensive. I would rather prefer trying local cuisines and cooking Indian food at home. There are few supermarket which have a large selection of Indian groceries and frozen items. Also one can go to a nearby larger city like Nuremberg to buy Indian groceries.

Practical and industry-oriented.
Tips: This is a very good course. The internship opportunities are excellent and significantly enhance your CV for future full-time positions. The only consideration is the semester fee of 3500 euros. Apart from that, it's fantastic. Before coming to Germany, it's crucial to learn German to at least a B1 level, and having at least two years of experience in India will make life much easier.
Likes (Indian Food):
There are various options available both on and off campus. The canteen occasionally offers Indian food, and they also have vegan options. However since you've come so far I encourage you to embrace the local cuisine it's quite good as well.
Dislikes (Part time work): There are some student assistant jobs, require you to contact different professors. There are off campus jobs but those usually require good German skills. There are also some helping jobs in production facilities that don't require much German.
