MSc in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology - Batch of 2021

I recommend Karlsruhe Institute of Technology
Tips: There used to be a minimal tuition fee at KIT when I was enrolled. Since then, a considerably higher tuition fee has been introduced. There are cultural differences, but it is also easy to find friends in the Indian community. I’m very satisfied with the quality of education at KIT.
Likes (Public transportation): The campus of the university is located in the heart of Karlsruhe. It is almost within walking distance of the center of Karlsruhe. Otherwise, it is also very well connected by trams and metros. Students at the university get free access to public transport with the semester ticket.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Having a degree from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology opens doors to several job opportunities. Roles in engineering, consultancy, or IT are common. I would guess the average annual salary for a fresh graduate is around 50k euros. I just think that the current job market in Germany is facing some challenges.

One of the best colleges that Germany can offer, especially research oriented.
Tips: Definitely the language barrier; it is really difficult without knowledge of German. The exam period is super stressful, so starting your preparation right from the classes start is quite important. If I'm not wrong, only the Deutschland Merit Scholarship is available, but it's quite competitive to get. I set up a blocked account for the first year, but you will be able to get student assistant jobs (HiWi), which will be sufficient to manage your expenses.
Likes (Safety): The city is super student-friendly and pretty safe, the student dorms are pretty safe too, overall. Recently, I came across an issue of robbery in one of the student dorms, but that's super, super rare. I have been living here for over a year now, and compared to other cities in Germany, Karlsruhe is one of the safest.
Dislikes (Internships): Finding internships is pretty hard, especially if you are not comfortable with German. Nothing is spoon-fed, so you will have to put in all the effort to find one, guidance such as cover letter and CV prep is provided, though. There are plenty of internships available, but most of them require German or prefer students who must do an internship.

MSc in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2025
3.5
Good experience with cutting edge research facilities
Tips: I was there for my exchange programme to do my thesis, so I didn't take any courses, but I had friends who were doing a Bachelor's. With the current situation, it's not very easy to find internships, and it can get stressful if you have taken out a loan. I was getting a DAAD scholarship of around 1000 euros per month, so that is enough, but it depends on your lifestyle and the apartment rent, which can be high. It's a very good city to live in. The tuition fee for international students is high for a Master's, but I was on exchange, so I didn't have to pay any.

KIT as university is awesome, if you are interested in research then it is best
Tips: In case you want to immigrate to Germany in order to build your career there, my advice to you is to learn the language first. Good skills in the German language will be very useful for both personal and professional life in that country. There are some occupations in Germany for which it is enough just to know English. However, the number of such jobs may be relatively small, especially for those people who plan to work in Germany for a long period of time. Moreover, it is much preferable by employers to hire people who know German well. Especially when their occupation requires contact with local people, their colleagues, etc. If you will learn the language before moving to Germany, it will help you to feel yourself more confident and comfortable after immigration. You will easily communicate with people and get information about the culture and society in this country. So it will be better for you to spend some time learning the language instead of moving to Germany without knowing it. Try to reach at least an intermediate level of German – B1 or B2 depending on your profession.
Likes (Quality of faculty): While evaluating the quality of professors whom I met during my education in the university, I would rate them 5. All of the professors had extensive knowledge and experience which made them very useful in my educational process. The professors were skilled and understandable in their way of teaching. One of the things that amazed me about professors was that they helped the students not only in class but outside class as well. They were very easy-going and asked the students to ask questions in case of discussion of some issue and provide useful comments on their assignments. Apart from that, the other thing that made them very useful was that they always linked the theoretical knowledge to the practical knowledge. Apart from that, all of the professors asked the students to think critically.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): It's mainly field of research but you can get a job if you know German. Without knowing German you won't get anything.Visa sponsorship is there if you know German. German language > technical skills. Technical knowledge is secondary when you know language.

Beyond the lectures. Life at KIT
Tips: No prerequisites, but you should be familiar with German culture. At our time, there was no entrance exam for the college, but now they have mandated the GRE and an entrance examination. I am very much satisfied with the course offered here at kit that too in English.
Likes (Student Life): It's a very good city for the student to live in. KIT offers learning from experienced professors, exploring different domains. Life here is a little demanding academically, lectures, assignments, part time. KIT also offers dynamic opportunities to build communication to get involved in student activities and cultural activities.
Dislikes (Internships): There is a good chance of getting internship if you search properly. And sometimes you will get internships not related to your field but you can always build connections that will help you in future. You can always go through the platform like linkedin and some other Germany specific to find Internships and part time.

A World-Class Engineering Powerhouse with Intense and Rewarding Academics.
Tips: One should know about the course before joining the university and taking the appropriate courses. One should have a sense of respect towards one's peers. One can try to learn the German language. While writing the test, one should use the key terms.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Faculty members are really approachable. World-class professors at KIT offer incredible accessibility through open-door office hours and fast forum replies. Their unique, research-driven methodology blends theory with global industry projects, delivered by a highly diverse, international faculty.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Authentic food from home is rare and altered in Karlsruhe, earning a 2. Local student pubs like Oxford and wok spots cost u20ac10u2013u20ac20, while sit-down places hit u20ac20u2013u20ac30. I prefer cooking to save money and control my diet. You can find the ingredients in Asian stores, but don't expect Indian prices.
