For Indian students aiming to ease the financial burden of an international degree, Google Scholarships provide some of the world's most prestigious corporate funding options. However, navigating these awards requires clearing up a common misconception: Google does not offer generic "study abroad travel grants," nor does it fund non-technical fields like the arts. Instead, Google Scholarships are highly selective, merit-based corporate funds reserved strictly for full-time students pursuing degrees in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or closely related technical STEM fields.

Your eligibility for an international Google award is determined entirely by the physical location of the university you attend rather than your passport or country of origin. To use a Google scholarship abroad, an Indian student must first successfully apply to, gain acceptance from and enrol in an accredited foreign university independently. Once enrolled as an international student at a destination campus - they become eligible to apply for Google’s regional flagship programs.

List of Google Scholarships for students

Here is a list of scholarships provided by Google for students pursuing technical courses.

1. Generation Google Scholarship (APAC)

Amount: 2,500 USD

This particular Google scholarship is designed to strongly encourage female students to pursue computer science courses. So, female undergraduate students enrolled full-time at universities within the Asia-Pacific region can apply. Open to aspiring computer scientists who excel in technology, the Generation Google Scholarship is designed to help students become world leaders in their field. Undergraduate students at any accredited Indian university can apply. Applications for the Generation Google Scholarships 2027 are expected to open between March and April 2027 for universities in the USA & Canada. For Europe, the UK, the Middle East and Africa, the applications are expected to open between February and March 2027.

Note: For a degree in the US, Canada or Europe in 2027, you will need to apply for the North America ($10,000 USD) or EMEA (€7,000) versions of the Generation Google Scholarship once you land there.

2. Google Conference and Travel Scholarship

Planning to attend a conference in computer science, but don’t have the means? The Google Conference and Travel Scholarship is designed to help underrepresented groups studying computer science or related engineering fields to participate in leading technological conferences. The Google Conference and Travel Scholarship is a short-term travel stipend. For Indian students, Google's policy strictly mandates that you must be the primary author of a research paper accepted at a top-tier computer science conference (e.g., NeurIPS, CVPR, ACL) to qualify for travel funding.

Note on application deadlines: There is no single fixed deadline. Instead, applications open in batches depending on when the specific tech conference takes place. You must submit your application at least 2 to 3 months prior to the conference start date, along with proof of an accepted research paper.

3. Google Scholarships for International Students with Disabilities

If you are an Indian student with a disability looking to study overseas, Google offers specialised tracks managed by external regional partners:

• Google Lime Scholarship (North America): Run in partnership with Lime Connect. It provides $10,000 USD/$5,000 CAD for undergraduate or graduate computer science students with visible or invisible disabilities studying at a US or Canadian university.
• Google Europe Scholarship for Students with Disabilities: Run in partnership with EmployAbility. It provides €7,000 for tech students enrolled at an accredited university anywhere in Europe.

Expected 2027 Deadlines: Applications generally mirror the regional mainstream windows, opening around February to April 2027

Google Scholarship Application Timeline for 2027

Because Google scholarships require you to have your university details finalised first, you must align your scholarship timeline with your university intake. According to standard study abroad timelines for Indian Students, applications for the Fall 2027 intake close between November 2026 and February 2027, which is exactly when you should be solidifying your college acceptance before the Google scholarship applications open in mid-2027.

Below is a realistic timeline that Indians must follow in order to apply for Google Scholarships in 2027.

1. October 2026 - February 2027: Submit your applications to foreign universities.
2. March - April 2027: Secure your university acceptance letter.
3. April - May 2027: Instantly submit your application to the Google Scholarships Portal the moment the international windows open

Note:- Since we are currently in October 2026, the university application window for the Fall 2027 intake is actively open right now across the US, UK and Canada. You should be preparing your college applications immediately. Once you have secured your primary university seat in early 2027, you can lock down your matching regional Google application
