An Indian student in the UK is arrested after reportedly asking a girl for directions to an address. The 23-year-old student is from Bahadurpura, Hyderabad and is pursuing a Master’s in International Marketing from Glasgow University, UK.
As per the report of Siasat.com, while in the UK for a few months, he approached the girl at a bus stop in Sudbury, Suffolk asking about an address. After the girl found his approach objectionable, she took him to Suffolk Constabulary Police Station where he got arrested.

Arrested student presented before court
After he was arrested in the UK, he was presented before the court, and then only his family in India learned about his arrest. The worried family then approached the Ministry of External Affairs, urging the Indian High Commission in London to provide legal assistance to his son. As per the family, he was just asking for direction as he was new to the place and possibly was misunderstood.
As per the father, the police said to the student's friend that he would be released after verification but later he was produced in court.

Indian student alleges hate campaign against him in London
An Indian student, Satyam Surana, came to the limelight after he bravely retrieved the Tricolour when extremists attacked the Indin High Commission in the United Kingdom last year.
As per the Economic Times report, the student has this year spoken out about the alleged hate and smear campaigns targeted at him during this year's student union elections at the London School of Economics.
In the past, the student has also practised at the Bombay High Court for some months and now pursuing LLM at the London School of Economics.
The student said that on March 17, there were messages in all groups of LSE, that claimed that he was a BJP supporter, a fascist person, an Islamophobe and a transphobe. As per him, the messages were seditious and contentious of the Indian government and current establishment.
