Global Conflicts not similar to J&K situation, says Indian Student Association at Columbia

The Association has said that it is a glaring and misleading trend to compare the global conflicts with the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

Indian Student Association at Columbia declines to equate global conflicts with Jammu and Kashmir situation

Indian Student Association at Columbia has released an official statement that says it is not right to compare the situation in Jammu and Kashmir with the global conflict.

The statement said that there has been a glaring and misleading trend that certain organisations, groups and colleagues at Columbia are drawing parallels between the current conflicts around the world and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. As per the Association, it is a misleading trend and we cannot draw similarities between the two situations. ISAC has condemned this comparison.

World in One Family

Indian Student Association at Columbia's official statement said that the Association firmly believes in the principles of justice, peace and the sanctity of human life and echoes our culture's value 'Vasudhev Kutumbkum' i.e. The World is One Family, and hence we stand in solidarity with all the people facing conflict and injustice around the world. They termed such a comparison with the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir inaccurate and out of context.

J&K integral part of India, says ISAC

The statement says, UT of J&K has always been an integral part of the Union of India and any attempts to equate it with any conflict around the world in unhelpful, and misguided and it would neither be advisable nor desirable.

The Association has urged all groups and organisations to refrain from such inappropriate comparisons as it will not help the conflict to be understood and addressed in the right way.

Columbia India Summit on April 13

Columbia SIPA has invited all concerned to register at the upcoming 4th annual conference on the Indian economy "India Rises." The program includes a networking reception and panel discussions and conversations with distinguished academics, policymakers and industry figures. ISAC has urged everyone to register for this interesting summit.
