MSc in Marketing and Retail Innovation - Batch of 2025
Offered by University College Dublin
4.1
Try to gain relevant industrial skills.
Tips: It was a bit uneasy to transition at first, but in some time I got blended perfectly. There was a bit of cultural shift as well, but everybody is friendly. I did not get any scholarships. The job market is saturated, be skilled to surpass the competition or at least have a prior work experience. Overall, I am mostly satisfied with the college and the country.
Likes (Student Life): Student life is good as it is culturally diverse and very welcoming. Many events of socializing are organized to make it welcoming and giving a feeling of inclusivity. Student communities are also cultural diverse and focus on majorly every important aspect of student's life.
Dislikes (Internships): The college provides ample guidance for the internships that are relevant to the courses we are pursuing. There is a separate faculty of coaches who take care of the internships of the students. However, there is a lot of competition as the job market is saturated. Sometimes, you might face frustration after a lot of rejections.

Faculty here focus more on self study.
Tips: Well, it's a Master's degree and our bachelor's education is not good enough to understand the concepts. Work experience really gives you an idea about the topics. That's why people don't study for a Master's immediately after earning a Bachelor's degree like we do in India. Be prepared to gather the knowledge from stacks of books and theories, and to devote a full year to this course of study. Compared to the rest of Europe, transportation costs in Ireland are average for students. The transportation system here is well connected. I've encountered problems like delayed buses and switching transportation modes, but nothing too serious. Transportation is safe in Ireland. It may not always be secure, but the people are nice. It's your job as a traveler to remain aware of your surroundings and follow any safety instructions. Overall, I am satisfied with my experiences.
Dislikes (Internships): Internships depend on the course. If your course allows you to take summer internships, it depends on your caliber. If you manage to secure an internship, well and good. The university won't provide you with leads; they can only guide you. Otherwise, you can choose modules to study or do projects.

Excellent college but average course.
Tips: Personally, I did not suffer culture shock since I had already studied in the UK before joining UCD. The University is good and the professors are friendly. I do think that the MSc program in Supply Chain Management leans too heavily on the theoretical and that it would have been much better if UCD had offered summer internships instead of the project that we got in the third trimester. There are various events and seminars on-campus so try to participate in it and build connections. Overall, I am highly satisfied with my experiences.

College is fun but stressful at the same time.
Tips: You’re going to have a great time at college. You should be prepared for your classes in advance because it makes it much easier to keep up. You'll also be happy to join different communities here. The teachers are friendly and are very effective with their use of technology. They use PPTS and live demos, which are very helpful when understanding concepts. The teaching staff is also really great and they are very helpful. Overall, it's great, but you should always be up-to-date with your academics and be sincere in your studies.
Likes (Safety): You will get a great exposure to all the activities and meet lots of different people – it's amazing. UCD has some great societies and it will make you confident in yourself. After this, you have very good scope in your extracurricular and internship as well.

UCD is very reputed in Ireland, and I value the place it holds here.
Tips: Only if you are ready to face challenges please take up this option. The first semester would be tough since you are going through many changes. Lectures are pretty long, I advise everyone to participate in class discussions. You tend to learn a lot then. Overall, I am quite satisfied with the course and the country.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): Ireland is a country that is not as well-known as others, but it is becoming more popular. Ireland is part of the EU, which makes the immigration process easier. I haven't done a lot of research, but people say that it is relatively easy to immigrate to Ireland.
Dislikes (Part time work): I didn't find many on-campus part-time jobs, but there are more off-campus opportunities in Dublin. Balancing academics and part-time work can be tiring, so I suggest you take a less tiring job so you have enough energy to focus on your studies. The maximum hourly wage is 14 euros.
