About University of Pavia
Established in 1361, the University of Pavia is a public university based in Pavia, Italy. Known for its programs in the fields of Humanities, Medicine, and Engineering, it sits alongside the oldest universities in Italy. University of Pavia History
Though it opened officially in 1361, the university's history can be traced back to the year 825, when the Lothair capitulary's emperor set up a school of rhetoric for officials of the kingdom. Fast forward to 1931, and Charles IV started a school which offered literary and legal education to students. It continued to expand its network over the following years, also setting up a campus in Cremona, and educated several popular medical professionals like Caro Forlanini and Camillo Golgi. Today, it operates 2 faculties, 18 departments, and offers more than 80 degree courses to its students.
