MOE-Listed Universities Admission Requirements for International Students

In order to study in one of the MOE-listed universities in China, an Indian student must have an overall 75% Score and excellent grades in English and PCB (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology). Apart from this, you may have to submit your English proficiency exam scores. Also, a few universities may request you to appear for an interview as a part of their admission process.

How to Confirm If a Chinese Medical University is MOE-Approved

Before applying to any university in China for MBBS, it is very important to check whether the institution is listed by the Chinese Ministry of Education (MOE). Only 44 universities are officially allowed to offer MBBS courses in English medium to foreign students, including those from India.

Here are a few easy steps you can follow to confirm the MOE approval:

  • Check the Official MOE List: The Ministry of Education (China) releases a list of approved universities every year. This list is also shared by the Indian Embassy in China on its official website.
  • Contact the Indian Embassy: You can visit or call the nearest Indian Embassy or check their official advisory notices. They often publish updated circulars to warn students about unapproved or bilingual courses.
  • Cross-check with NMC: The National Medical Commission (NMC) in India sometimes issues alerts regarding approved foreign medical universities. It’s good to check if your shortlisted Chinese university is mentioned in their public advisory.
  • Avoid Agents Promoting Bilingual Courses: If any agent or consultancy offers MBBS in a university not included in the MOE list — or talks about bilingual (English + Chinese) courses, it is best to avoid them. According to the MOE, bilingual MBBS teaching is strictly prohibited for international students.

Taking these steps before admission will help you stay safe from fraud, avoid legal complications later, and ensure that your degree remains valid for future licensing exams like FMGE or NEXT in India.

Benefits of Studying at MOE-Approved Universities

  1. High Educational Standards: These universities maintain high standards for academic quality, faculty qualifications, and research opportunities.
  2. International Environment: Many students from different countries study at these institutions, providing a diverse learning environment.
  3. Affordable Tuition Fees: Compared to many Western countries, studying MBBS in China is often more affordable.
  4. Comprehensive Clinical Training: Students receive extensive hands-on training in hospitals and clinics.
