Once again, another student of Indian origin has died in the US state of Ohio. This was the 10th such case of Indian student death reported in the year 2024. It raised concern about the safety of Indian students in the USA.

The Indian Consulate in New York has confirmed the death of another Indian student in the US state of Ohio. The investigation is going on in the case.

"Deeply saddened by the unfortunate demise of Mr. Uma Satya Sai Gadde, an Indian student in Cleveland, Ohio. A police investigation is underway. @IndiainNewYork continues to remain in touch with the family in India. All possible assistance is being extended including transporting Mr. Uma Gadde’s mortal remains to India at the earliest," reads the message of Indian Consulate in New York on the X platform.

 

10th case so far

The deceased student was identified as Uma Satya Sai Gadde, who was pursuing his education in Ohio's Cleveland. This has been the 10th such case of death of Indian students so far. Last month one more Indian student named Mohammed Abdul Arafat, went missing from the Cleveland area under mysterious circumstances. Before this, Paruchuri Abhijit was found dead in his car at Boston University.

Indian Students Deaths in USA Raises Safety Concerns

The Indian American community is in great fear and anxiety due to these mysterious deaths that are being reported in the USA. It also creates worry among the students and their parents who are aspiring to pursue their studies in the United States. 

The USA is home to many renowned universities including Stanford, Harvard, California Institute of Technology and others. But the tragic incidents are adding to the fear of aspirants. The underlying causes of these fatalities included accidents, violence, medical emergencies and mental health struggles.

The untimely demises of these young students in such a short span of time ignited huge concerns about security for Indians in the USA. As per reports, the Indian students community in the USA are scared to go out alone and those who are seeking new admissions are enquiring about safe universities to take admission in the USA.

Other students that died mysterious deaths this year include Sameeth Kamath who was found dead on February 5, 2024, Janhavi Kandula killed in a harsh driving by a police officer in Seattle, Amarnath Ghosh who was attacked while he was out for an evening walk Shreyas Reddy, a student at the Linder School of Business, 18-year-old Indian student Akul Dhawan was found dead, and Vivek Saini and Neel Acharya.

The University of South Dakota expects a GPA score of 2.5 from undergraduates and 3 from postgraduates on the 4-pointer scale.
