Q. Tell us your name, which city you are based out of and what are you currently doing?
Tanmay: My name is Tanmay and I am from Goa. I have completed my Bachelors in Business Administration in 2020 and currently, I am starting my MSc in International Marketing from the University of Strathclyde in the UK.
Q. Why did you pick studying abroad over studying in India?
Tanmay: One of the major reasons for opting to study abroad rather than in India would be the international exposure I would acquire once abroad. Studying abroad would allow me to come in close contact with different cultures and also learn about the functioning of businesses outside of India. Studying abroad would allow me to understand the difference between business functions in India and abroad and above all gain more in-depth knowledge about the working of a business in its entirety.
Q. Why did you choose the UK?
Tanmay: The main reason for me to opt for the UK over other countries is the use of the English language. While countries in Europe like Germany and France require students to have a basic understanding of German and French, respectively. In the UK, English is the main language of communication and is spoken across universities and in the country. We also speak English in our home country. Moreover, the UK is home to the top universities in the world and with my globally recognized degree from a UK university, I will be eligible to apply for a job, worldwide.
Q. Once you were sure of going abroad to study, how did you research the application process?
Tanmay: Since I am from Goa, I have to travel all the way to Mumbai to attend education fairs and study seminars. Hence when I decided to study abroad I straightway started to look for agents who would assist me with the admission/application processes. When I spoke to a few of the agents I did not find them as inclined towards my goal as I would have liked them to be. Since I was not really satisfied with their efforts, I continued my search for a more receptive agent when I stumbled upon Shiksha Study Abroad Counselling Service. Here I got in touch with Deepika Mittal. And as they say, the rest is history.
Q. What is your profile (academics, test scores, work experience etc.) and which all universities did you apply to?
Tanmay: As informed earlier, I completed my undergraduate studies in Bachelors in Business Administration with a 6.5 CGPA. I went on to apply for my IELTS exam as part of my study abroad admission process where I got an IELTS band score of 6.5. Sadly, I was not able to bag any scholarships. I applied to multiple universities including The University of Liverpool, the University of York and several others.
Q. How was your experience with the Shiksha Counselling Team?
Tanmay: Services provided by the Shiksha Counselling team is one of the best I got. I applied to 14 universities and my assigned counsellor had no problems assisting me with the application process to all of them. She helped me with the application process for all universities not losing any patience. The counsellor was responsive to my preferences and I think they have done justice to my overall study abroad experience. Personally, it was a great experience at my end for choosing the services of the Shiksha Study Abroad Counsellors.
They also guided me through the UK Study Visa process through mock interviews and preparing my documents checklist for the day. The visa process went smooth and everything worked out and currently, I am pursuing my MSc in International Marketing from the University of Strathclyde in the UK.
Q. Please share your journey while applying abroad?
Tanmay: Overall my study abroad journey has been great. The UK Study Visa filing process was made effortless to a great extent with the help of my assigned counsellor, Deepika Mittal. I would highly recommend students looking to study abroad opt for Shiksha Study Abroad services. I am glad to have met them, as I am here in the UK, studying in one of the top universities in the country, and pursuing a course that is best for me.
We at Shiksha would like to wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
