University of Houston Admissions 2026: Application Deadline, Requirements & Costs

International students, including Indians, are generally eligible for an application fee waiver at the University of Houston. The UH application fee is USD 90 (INR 7,726) which can be waived off. The process starts by applicants filling out the National Association for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC) Fee Waiver Form and uploading it through their myUH account. 

Eligibility might be determined by one of the following criteria: 

• Eligible for ACT or SAT testing fee waiver

• Eligible for the Federal Free or Reduced Price Lunch program

• Family income within USDA guidelines for financial need

• The family receives public assistance

• Lives in federally subsidized public housing, a foster home, or is homeless

• Is a ward of the state or an orphan

• Other extenuating circumstances as certified by a school official

Please note that the university does not guarantee the waiver; however, there are chances if the applicant can show genuine need. 

As per the official website of the University of Houston, international students are required to have an equivalent GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. These students are also expected to demonstrate a level of English language proficiency, for which the minimum score requirements are mentioned below: 

• IELTS: 6.5 overall

• TOEFL iBT: 79

• Duolingo: 105

International students need to submit certain admission documents to apply to the University of Houston! With the minimum eligibility criteria already prescribed for GPA academic records and official transcripts English language proficiency proof is required with the help of tests like IELTS or TOEFL or PTE or Duolingo along with some other educational documents.

• He/ she must be eligible to participate in the Federal Free or Reduced Price Lunch programme (FRPL)
• Applicant's annual family income falls within the income Eligibility Guidelines* set by the USDA Food and Nutrition Service
• The student’s family receives public assistance
• The student lives in federally subsidized public housing, a foster home, or is homeless
• The student is a ward of the state or an orphan
• Other requests from the high school principal, high school counselor, financial aid officer, community advisor/leader or
• other official who can attest to the student's circumstances

Note: If no item is checked from the above list, the request will be denied.
