History
In 1896, the university was opened by the Duke and Dutchess of York and started its journey as the Royal Technical Institute, Salford. Then, in 1921, the Royal Technical Institute, Salford was named Royal Technical College, Salford. Then, in 1958, it split into two organizations, the Royal College of Advanced Technology and Peel Park Technical College. After divisions, the University of Salford became a single institution in 1996.
