History
The University of New Mexico was established in 1889 by the New Mexico Territorial Legislature and is located In Albuquerque, New Mexico. The university is regarded as the state’s second-oldest university. Multiple programs for the students and faculty at the university were introduced in 1901 under William G. Tight, the third president of the university. The University of New Mexico was among the 131 U.S. Colleges and Universities that took part in the V-12 Navy College Training Program during World War II. Over the years, the new presidents of the university focused on improving the university’s faculty, program, and services offered. The university also witnessed an increase in the enrollment of students from 5,000 to more than 14,000 students along with the launch of new programs such as Dental, Nursing, Medicine, Law, and others.
The 1980s witnessed a dramatic expansion of the University’s Medical Center, Business School, and Engineering School. In 2016, the university became the first country to launch a Signature School Program which enabled the students to interact with analysts. Over the years, the university has continued to expand and implement new initiatives.
