Q:   What are the English language requirements for MIT Australia?
A: 

To meet eligibility requirements, Indian students must provide proof of English language. Indian students who have learned English as their first language or completed their previous degrees in English are leave language requirements.

English Requirements for International Students

Students coming from non English speaking countries such as India, need to prove language proficiency through standardized English exams such as IELTS, TOEFL or PTE. Students may provide either of following exam scores as mentioned below-

Yes, Melbourne Institute of Technoloyg offers a number of scholarships to international students. Most of the scholarships offered by MIT Australia are merit-based. Some of the scholarships given to international students are given below:

Q:   Is there any scholarship available for international students at Melbourne Institute of Technology?
A: 

Yes, MIT offers 2 types of scholarships to Indian students-

1. MIT International Excellence Scholarship-

It is available to both PG and UG students who start their program in any trimester excluding Nov trimester. The scholarship is awarded based on a candidate's academic merit before joining MIT. Students can avail themselves of a 20% reduction in their tuition fee for a trimester if they are awarded this scholarship. 

Eligibility Criteria for International Undergraduates 

  •     Must be a full-time international student commencing the programme in any but the November trimester 

  •     Must have secured a minimum aggregate of 70% in high school (12th standard) with no fail grades and not a single individual subject score of below 65% 

  •     The minimum IELTS (Academic) score required: 7 (with no band less than 6.5) 

  •     Must submit an essay (500-800 words) citing the need for the scholarship 

  •     Must not have received governmental or organizational sponsorship 

Eligibility Criteria for International Graduates 

The criteria for PG students is the same as that applicable to UG students except for one thing: 

  • Must have secured a minimum aggregate of 70% in graduation 

  • Must have no fail grades 

  • Must not have a single subject score of below 65% 

Process of Awarding Scholarship 

Eligible students must give interview to show communication skills and verify data provided in application forms. The scholarship can be retained in next trimester provided the student gets min 70% marks in last trimester with no score below 65%. 

Eligible Programs 

Scholarship is available for 5 programs- Bachelor of Business, Master of Professional Accounting, Bachelor of Networking, Master of Networking and Master of Engineering (Telecommunications). 

2. MIT Academic Achievement Scholarship — 

It is awarded every trimester based on merit. Both UG and PG students can get a 30% reduction in the tuition fee of their current trimester if they receive the scholarship. 

Eligibility Criteria for All International Students 

  • Must be full-time international students enrolled at the university 

  • Must have secured a minimum aggregate of 75% in the previous trimester with no fail grades and not a single individual subject score below 70% 

  • Must have a minimum IELTS Academic score of 7.0 bands (with no band less than 6.5) 

  • Must have finished min 2 trimesters full time with 80% attendance record 

  • Must submit essay mentioning need for scholarship 

  • Must have paid fee for next trimester 

  • Must not have received governmental or organizational sponsorship 

  • Must have maintained enrolment in the commenced course 

Process of Awarding Scholarship 

Eligible candidates must appear for an interview to showcase their communication skills and verify the data provided in their application forms. MIT uses a scoring method to rate applicants to award these scholarships.

Q:   Can students apply for part-time jobs while studying at Melbourne Institute of Technology?
A: 

Yes, Melbourne Institute of Technology allow international students to have jobs while they're studying. You can work up to 40 hours every two weeks when your courses are in session, and full-time during breaks.

Rules for Your Work Visa:

  • Finish your course within the time specified in your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).
  • Keep your grades up according to MIT's Academic Progress Policy.
  • Stay at MIT for at least six months unless they say you can go to another school.
  • Make sure you have Overseas Student Health Cover for your whole stay in Australia.
